  1. Update, so after replacing the transmission filter and pan gasket, the transfer case adapter, swapping transfer cases and buying new spicer ujoints and ujoint straps it runs fine. Only issue I'm having now is aound 80 to 90 it starts making a pulsing vibration but not so bad that I had to let off just didn't want to blow it up again tonight lol. Alignment was done when I had the new tires put on and balanced, so I don't think it's that, what I'm wondering is how the weights should be on the driveshafts. Should it be the front is opposite of the rear? Thanks guys for the input
  2. Don't do it! Lmao don't listen to me I'm just goin through some things
  3. Yea it's the right one fer sure, I was swapping out the chains just not and noticed a crack leading to a nice size hole int the top but pretty sure that was from when the two hundred dollar adapter broke. Btw paid $96 for each u-joint at the stealership but the quality and peace of mind is def worth it.
  4. Yea the chain ended up being the only thing wrong with it so I'm gonna swap them out and go with the original, she just didn't take well to a transplant lol naw this site gives me so much info I couldn't ask for a better bunch of guys. Thanks for all the opinions and information everyone. So close to giving up on this truck cause its always something I'm fixing and not being able to spend my extra cash to make it better. But whatever I can't bring myself to sell her lol. Y'all have a good one
  5. I replaced the u-joints when I replaced the transfer and it drove fine until I pulled onto the highway and got up to around 75. I'm on a military base so the truck hardly ever sees anything over thirty until last week. Last week when it broke the first time It made a sound like I had an engine brake and I lost power and when I came to a stop the driveshaft was out and one of the caps was missing and the other was in the c- clamp still.
  6. I'm thinkin it's the u-joints I bought off orilleys are just the wrong ones, they fit perfectly and snug though but I'm gonna get new factory ones from the dealership as well as a new adapter cause it broke the adapter around every bolt so my theory is when the back ujoint gave way it twisted the transfer case and broke the adapter. I dunno just trying to make sense of it all. Does anyone have the p/n for the spicer ujoints on hand. Thanks in advance
  7. Well just got home and got under it and found that it cracked the adapter as well, will post up part numbers as soon and I get everything else ordered.
  8. Ok so I just picked up the gasket from gm and it looks to be the one the guy even told me its the only one they carry for this truck so wish me luck. Thanks for the help fellas and hope y'all's weekend goes well.
  9. I bought cork gasket paper at autozone the first time and the second time I replaced it with water pump rubber type gasket paper, also sold at autozone. I used the rubberized gasket paper over a year ago when I did a rebuild on the transfer the first time and it held up until the chain got loose and I swapped out the transfer. Do you recall where you ended up getting the right gasket? Bc the original is long gone. Thanks for your time.
  10. It's blowing the gasket out like building pressure and popping, I know the breather vent is on the driver side which is a hose and a fitting that pops in it but that's clear of debris. Both times it did it it actually pops the caps off the ujoint like that mates the the rear axle. The two clamps that hold the ujoint to the rear diff are fine no damage and are not loose but it still pulls the caps out of it and throws them. I'm moving tonight since my truck is down so I won't be able to dig into it till Sunday but it def seems like its building pressure cause only has happened at around 70ish. Thanks for the help and opinions cause I could use all I can get.
  11. I just haven't changed my location on here, I'm stationed at fort Stewart ga near savannah and am gonna be movin up to Atlanta next week once I get out but thanks much for the reply brother cause I'm loosin my mind trying to figure out why it would do that.
  12. And it popped the driveshaft off the rearend again.
  13. Vicious coupler maybe? I still have my old transfer case btw just has a loose chain
  14. This is the second time this week that its done this. It drives around town just fine power feels distributed evenly and everything. Thing is when I get on a highway going about 70 it blows all the fluid out of the gap between the transfer and transmission. It makes a bad grinding noise when doing so, the first time it broke the u-joint off the rear axle but this time it looks to be in tact. I'm wondering if anyone has any input, I'm moving in five days and have to drive it five hours to my new house. The transfer was bought about two months ago with 78k on it. Thanks for the input
  15. I'm movin to Atlanta in a lil over a week, need help with ya truck ill be in Buford.
  16. Does anyone know what site to find the elements on?
  17. Yea I bought new metal clamps and the tool but ended up using the original clamp. Now I gotta pull it all out again cause I got a nasty popping coming from my transfer but thank god I got a used one on the way now. Thanks for all the help fellas, it's def nice to have a few different opinions on doin these projects. Y'all have a good one
  18. That's what I was lookin to hear, I just didn't want to cut that band and it not be where I needed to start and have to pick up a new band from somewhere for no reason. Thanks for the help fellas, now I just hope the poppin noise is the u-joints and not the transfer itself. Y'all have a good weekend.
  19. I'm trying to change out the u-joints in the front drive shaft but can't seem to figure out how to pull it off the transfer case. Any help would be appreciated.
  20. I have one ill sell for 60 plus shipping. Shoot me ur number and ill send u some pics after I clean it up a bit.
  21. Thanks for the axles brother, didn't fix the damn popping noise though. Thinking my transfer case is starting to go out. Anyways good seller everyone and ships parts out quick.
