[I Need Some Help Deciding On A Tire]

I just got my truck, but it has a set of Kumho's (275-55-20) on it. I have minor mods and haven't been able to spin the tires on dry roads, and tried at 20MPH on wet roads to no avail. I haven't had the opportunity to try wet roads from a dead stop.

[Got Gas Today.]

I hear alot of guys complaining about fuel mileage on their SS. It really isn't that much different then any other truck. I just traded in my POS 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat crew cab 5.4ltr. for my 2003 SS with some minor mods and the fuel mileage is only .5MPG off. I've only driven it 4 days so it might be a little off, but not enough to complain about considering I now have a REAL truck.

[Where To Begin For Better Power.]

I was about to order the KN this afternoon then saw the first couple of volant references here so now I'm scrathin my head. Plus the guy who built my Turbo T saw the truck today and mentioned making one out of polished tube they have around for intercooler piping. Trouble is then he's got to fab up a barrier to keep heat away and yada yada next thing it turns into a half day job. I'm going to order somethign tomorrow

 

Yes I know the dynatech is right around $1500 in Summit - plus exhaust.... BUT I went for a spin in an 06 vette that had Dynatec with a cam as well and it sounded so so nasty at WOT and leaving stoplights. This may be further down the road.

 

I like the borla sound - their site did not list a system for this truck though.

 

Now I need to get first in line for a used ECM that I can have tuned!

[Any Opinions On Programmer Brands?]

I get that the custom tune is better for all out power, but I want to ride at 13MPG around town like I am now, and be able to flip a switch and get the power only when needed. I know Bully Dog and a few others are starting to give you 3 different power options, plus letting you go online and input your mods and giving you a "custom" tune to download to the programmer.

I want to get a programmer for my 2003 SS and need some help with the 10 different brands. I use my truck for work and need gas mileage, but want to be able to juice it up when needed(FRIGGIN' MUSTANGS). Does anybody have any comments, good or bad, about their programmer?

The only idea I have is to get some black elastic band from the fabric store and affix some velcro to it, and stick velcro to the dash.

[New Guy With A Couple Questions.]

Just bought my 2003 SS yesterday. It has 46k on it, but is in great shape.

 

I've noticed a couple things and have some questions. I bought it from a dealer so Idon't know what the previous owner did to it. First of all, do all SS's shift hard into 2nd gear even when you are gentle? I'm not sure if it has a shift kit in it.

Second, it has a K&N filter, is the intake routing pipe stock or part of a cold air intake?(I've included photos)

Third, I notice a "whistle or whine" at cruising speed. Is this normal or do you think it's a result of the air filter having less restriction?
