  1. these things are notorious for eating cycling switches. located on the side of the accumulator, pass side rear of engine compartment. hard so say for sure as we cant check the charge amount. but the switch is short money if you wanna just throw one in it.

  2. This is Bella. She loves hanging out at the lake, riding with her dad on his new Polaris RZR, posing for pictures, swimming, whining, taking up half of the bed...and eating! LOL...she will be 1 next month.

she's beautifull man! here's my 14 month old male ,"Tank"

  3. I was told that all automatic LS, LT, and SS trucks have the harness to the trans temp already installed, I'm not sure, I was wondering if the truck does have this harness and everything ready for install, could I tap a AutoMeter Trans temp gauge to the harness??

the trans temp sensor is part of the manual fluid pressure switch located on the bottom of the valve body. all 4l60-65e trans have em, but not all are wired for it,or have the guage in the cluster. as for installing an after market temp guage, i'm sure it can be done, i'm just not sure how those autometer guages are set up....

  4. I have noticed lately that when I make a sharp turn at low speeds in a parking lot, the rear end seems to make one wheel hop/chatter. It doesn't matter whether i'm in drive or reverse, and it happens sometimes when I make a slow, sharp right turn.....but not all the time. The right rear wheel seems to hop/chatter, chirping the tire. It feels like the truck is bucking when it happens.

It feels like the G80 is locking up on the turn even though I am going very slow. I have never had this happen before until recently, and quite frankly it has me concerned that my rear end is gonna break. The SSS has 34,500 miles on her now. What do you guys think?

    Dan :chevy:

you guys that are having trouble with your diffs stay locked or not locking when they're supposed to, pop the cover off and blow a few cans of brake cleaner into the clutches and the governer. let it air dry for 20 min, put the cover back on and refill it with gm's 75-90 synth and a bottle of limited slip additive.i've fixed upwards of 40 tucks with this same problem by doing that. fyi

  5. Looks like I am spewing diff fluid somewhere near the driver front tire. Everything seems pretty clean by transfer case though. I haven't had a chance to really get in there and see exactly where it is leaking, but what are the likely suspects? I am sure it is diff fluid by the odor.

    Thanks

the big plastic vent or an axle seal. more likely the vent, i've seen em loosten up and leak

  6. Hey Guys. I have along with my 03 SS a 03 Impala LS with the 3.8 engine. The Impala is about to roll over 55,000 miles and I want to know what everyone thinks about using the dealership to do a filer change and new fluid on the transmission. I am having NO problems with the car at this time and want to keep it that way. I just don't know if I will be getting into trouble with having the service done. Some say let it go, others say do it now.

What about it Zippy and Mr. P ?

I want your thoughts on the service as I can't get under there and do it myself.

    CD

i'm a tech at a GM dealership and can't remember the last tranny filter i changed as part of scheduled main. we just flush 14qts of fresh fluid into the trans via a machine that hooks into a cooler line. however do not let them run any flush chemicals through it, just new clean fluid, and you'll be fine.

  7. is the transfer case easy to repair. i wouldnt touch a tranny but transfer case seems like it would be easier to handle.

here is a breakdown or your NVG149-NP3 transfercase. the viscous coupler you're replacing is #45. its a fairly simple job, no special tools required other than a pair of snap ring plies. there is a snap ring hidden behind a rubber plug in the tailshaft, other than that, she comes right apart. just remember to keep all components clean and dont use to much sealer on the case halves when u reassemble.

  8. my trans seems to be slipping when it first shifts into second gear and right befor shifting into third so twice in second, but no slipping in anyother gear.

could it just be the converter starting to die?

oh btw the truck is procharged since 2 weeksago :chevy:

try selecting manual 2nd and see if it feels any better/different. the overrun clutch is applied in manual 2nd range, and if the 2-4 band is slipping, it may feel better. this isn't a fix obviously, just helps narrow down the prob. a common prob with these trannys is the the manual fluid pressure switch on the bottom of the valve body gets full of sediment. the result is delayed/late shifts that can be confused with slipping. def check fluid level, color, smell. that will tell ya if its actually slipping or not.

  9. I have the same problem!!! My truck started with this 'squeak squeak' crap about 5k miles ago...only happens after the truck warms up...not the brakes cause the noise stays there with them applied...not the parking brake since I applied that also and the noise stayed the same...not tire noise, i rotated them and they are fairly new...i can hear it louder on the drivers side ( i can hear the sound bouncing off of curbs louder from the drivers side, even from the passenger seat)..I am at a loss now...LOL

I thought it was me being o.c.d. about my truck kicking in again..LMAO

My gut feeling is that one of the dealer techs on this site might know what it is...I would be so pi$%ed if I pulled my trans, bolted it back up and the noise was still there...

my noise sounds similar to a rubber to rubber type of squeak..only when I am going about 3-20 mph...

the pitch stays the same at all speeds, but the rate increases with speed...only while the truck is moving, it stops when the truck stops...I tried shifting to nuetral and shutting off the engine while coasting, the noise was still there (and by the way, our trucks stop even shittier without power brakes! LOL)

    It is EXTREMELY annoying...

I dont hear it as bad if my truck is wet though..like after I powerwash the under carridge, the noise disappears until it drys off...i am at a loss now! LOL

I also thought it was dry c.v. boots...I lubed them up, noise did not change either...I am about ready to support her on wheel stands and let someone 'drive' my truck while I crawl around underneath to look/hear the noise...

sounds like a dry u-joint to me man

  10. the amount of work and re wiring involved would make this conversion pointless. transfercase control module would have to be added and wired into the ecm and encoder motor. encoder motor itself would have to be wired, and we're not talking about a few pwr and ground wires either, 6-8 at the encoder motor, and between 20-30 at the control module. plus the selector switch, witch is 7 or 8. possible? absolutely. practicle? i hope you've got a close friend who's a gm tech!

  11. a higher ethanol content will not affect performance, but it will affect fuel economy. ethanol is roughly 8% less effecient than petroleum based fuels. more and more we see fuel with higher than 10% ethanol content in it. while a vehicles ecm can adjust injector pulse width and spark so u don't have any driveability problems, a side effect will be slightly lower gas mileage.
