  1. Also, do I have to upgrade spark plugs if I go to a bigger injector?
  2. First of all, I recently installed a cam with the following specs: Intake Duration: 225 @.050" Exhaust Duration: 229 @.050" Intake Lift: .580" Exhaust Lift: .590" LSA: 114+4 In addition to the cam, I also installed ported and polished 317s. I have a CAI, true duals, and shorty headers. That said, is it possible that I need to upgrade my fuel injectors? I am currently running stockers. If so, does it look like I will realize any real performance gains from the swap? Any ideas on size, part numbers, etc? Thanks a lot. Shaun
  3. Okay, the heads are sold. I still have the SSS cam, if anyone is interested. If you are, make a reasonable offer. I just want to get it out of the way. Thanks.
  4. Hey, name a price on this stuff. I'll take any reasonable offer. I just need to get rid of it... Thanks.
  5. I recently did a head/cam swap on my 2003 SSS, which has 85,000 miles on it. These are the parts that came off. Everything is in great shape. The heads would be perfect for someone who wants to have them ported and polished. Heads are fully assembled and ready to bolt on. Pushrods also included. $200 shipped for the heads, cam, and pushrods. I can get pictures if wanted.
  6. I'm not exactly sure how much lift the 1.8 rockers will give over the 1.7, but I can tell you that I recently installed a .580/.590 cam in my 2003 SSS, with P/P 317 heads, and there were no PTV clearance issues whatsoever. Have you done any researce on lift increase between the different rockers? Shaun
  7. In an interesting twist, I just replaced my tuned pcm with my stock pcm and it is no longer throwing a code, but it is still idling low. I'm going to try sending my tuned pcm back to Charlie Wheatley to have him work his magic. Thanks for the response brobradh77! Shaun
  8. Hey guys. I installed my new cam and ported/polished 317 heads yesterday. When I cranked it up, it would only idle at about 450 rpms, which causes it to shut down alot, when it is in drive. Also, the check engine light came one because of a "random cylinder misfire" code. Every time we clear the code out, it pops back up after a period of time. Is this common, if your pcm is not tuned properly? It seems like the pcm is trying to adapt, but that the change is too much for it to compensate. I have a custom tune that is programmed for my old cam. Maybe I just need to have it updated? Thanks a lot.
  9. Anybody else? I'm installing on Saturday. Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the quick reply. I have Precision Racing double valve springs that are good up to .650. Shaun
  11. I am going to put a new cam in my 2003 SSS this weekend. Does anyone know if it is going to be necessary to check the ptv clearance on a cam that is 225/229, .580/.590? The heads are factory height. Should be fine without checking, but I just wanted to ask someone who has installed a similar or larger cam. Thanks for your help. Shaun
  12. Does anyone have any unopened gaskets for an '03 SSS? I need intake, head, and header gaskets for the swap. Thanks.
  13. Will the timing cover on the LQ9 house a double roller timing set? Is it worth the money? Thanks.
  14. Okay, that's a good idea. Someone actually suggested I try the local library also.
  15. Thanks a lot for the responses, guys. I called Chilton and they actually referred me to Haynes. I am going to call them to see exactly which book is the right one, before I order. Thanks again for the help.
  16. Do any of you have a Chilton Manual for a 2003 SSS? They obviously don't make one specifically for the 6.0, but I was wondering if the engine info (for a head and cam swap, specifically) would be included in the 99-06 Full Size Trucks Manaul (#28625). Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!!
  17. Hey, Mo! Welcome to the site. I am a new member also, but as can see, the folks on here make you feel at home, right away. There is a wealth of information available on this site and you couldn't ask for better people to discuss this stuff with. Good luck with your truck! Shaun
  18. Krambo, Thanks for the input. I have really been searching hard for the right cam lately. I want the best gains possible, but at the same time, I want to keep my driveability. In all honesty, I probably won't go with forced induction. Any suggestions? I'll try to get some pics posted ASAP. Thanks again! Shaun
  19. Hey guys. I own a 2003 Silverado SS, that I purchased about 6-7 months ago. I have been a member of this forum since then, but just now got around to doing an introduction post. So far, after reading many posts, as well as asking several questions, I have installed a Volant CAI, and had a Wheatley-tuned PCM installed. The truck runs great, but I have decided to go a little further. Within the next few months I am going to be installing ported and polished 317 heads, as well as a GT2-3 cam, by Lingenfelter. After that, I'll probably throw some headers on and call it quits (for a while). Anyway, this is a great site and we obviously have some extremely knowledgeable people on board. Thanks for everything! Shaun
  20. Zippy, Do you know if the stock lifters can be used or if they need to be replaced when installing the xtreme cam?
  21. Thanks a lot, Krambo. I recently bought some ported and polished 317 heads and was trying to add a few mods, since I'm going to be tearing part of the engine down. I am hesitant on installing a cam, because of all the work and new parts required. I will probably go with the heads, new intake manifold, and headers. Thanks again.
  22. Also, will I have to update my custom tune before I can install the MAF? Thanks again!
  23. I am interested in purchasing an 85mm, aftermarket MAF sensor for my 2003 SSS. Does anyone have any brand suggestions? Also, will any LS1 model fit the LQ9? I am still a little confused about where the LQ9 sits in the GM engine family. Thanks a lot for your help!
