  1. Holy sh*t! I can't believe someone still had the pic of my good 'ol buddy, Rich! Wasn't it one of the Dodge Dak guys that originally posted that? I have to say that I really do miss some of the conversations we had - honestly. They were the highlights of my times on here.

If I had to say that I missed one person it would have to be Lee.

Although as much as I have been on in the last year, I could say that I miss all you guys.

  2. Living arrangements onboard a NAVY ship are far from "plush". Also, there are currently approximately 13,000 Sailors with boots on the ground between IRAQ/AFGHANISTAN in harms way alongside Soldiers/Marines.

If he answers NO to alot of those questions, then he should consider the air force or navy...not that they arent put into harms way, but definetly the more plush accomodations and cleaner assignments.
  3. I did the cam swap, and its just an occasional chirp. I did the swap about 1200 miles ago, considering it took 1000 this weekend driving to palmer and back and traveling around anchorage. I have lil over 28k on the truck now. I did notice that if i sping the alternator pulley it chirps you think that might be the problem?? Its just a chirp like half to full second.

If you can spin your alt pulley without the belt on it and it is making noise, then that is what I would diagnose it as. It is not uncommon for the bearing to go out in them. Maybe not the usual cause for noises, but it is one of them at least.

  4. I can't see metal boot covers being the cause unless in some way it is keeping your wires from being seated all the way down on the plug.

Take your wires off one at a time and re-seat them. Feel for one click on the plug end and you should hear two clicks on the coil end. I would do that and go from there - unless it has been quite a while since plug/plug wires have been replaced.

  5. Plug wire, plug, coil, fuel injector.

Flashing SES always will mean misfire. Check your plug wire on cylinder 7 (driver's side all the way back). Check and make sure both ends are seated good. You should feel one click on your plug end and hear two clicks on the coil end. A good check of all of them won't hurt.

I like taking a pair of slip-joint pliars and move to the wider setting, put the plug end connector in and squeeze slightly. It will apply pressure all the way around and should evenly mash it in sligtly. The object is just to get it to sit on the plug more snug. Most come with wires that the plug end is a little on the big side. I have seen this fix mis-fire just from doing this.

  6. just want you guys to see what i think the bed should look like this is my bed after 4 years and 63000 miles

Do you actually wax the bed? The bed is something I couldn't care less about. It is a truck, IMO. I don't feel that way about everything, but the bed worries me not.

  7. Beautiful boat...72 is pushing it.....must be a strong 454....youd be surprised at how much its gonna take to get to 80.....i'll be lucky to hit 60 in mine id say..and its 500 horse....its a deeper V than a southwind tho........it'll be in the water by next weekend...cant wait...have fun....be safe

I know guys with bass boats that hit 82-84 on GPS. My next boat will have at least a 250.

  8. That doesn't really sound all that bad. Back when I got mine I was cruising around in Jacksonville, FL and saw one that had chrome running boards (not bars), chrome fender flares, two-tone black/gold, dark limo tint, stick-on hood scoops, stick-on pieces for the back side window, curb feelers, billet fuel door, etc...I forget all it had. Although some of them individually wouldn't have looked that bad, putting them all together like it was looked really stupid.

  9. Nice pics. Makes me miss the beach. Love the gulf coast beaches. I was stationed in Pensacola last duty station and I really loved the beaches. I was about 6-7 minutes from Johnson's Beach (State Park) and water/white sand like you have there. We went to Destin a couple of times. It was definitely more of a beach party town. The one thing it will do to you is ruin you for any other beach. I live here in Hampton Roads (VA) and the beaches absolutely suck. No parking and just an overall hassle. It's called a vacation spot for some reason. I guess people just don't know what they are missing. I never had to park more than 50ft from the beach at Johnson's Beach. Even going to Pensacola Beach was not any kind of hassle. No better way to relax than closing your eyes while hearing waves crash and seagulls and a nice breeze blowing on you.

  10. Don't try to do alot at once. That leads to problems.

    Good advice.

I remember a while back when I still had the Radix. Did heads/cam/oil pump/double timing chain. It made sense to do it all at once, but I only had a small window (1.5 days) to complete it (while wife was out of town) and that made me rush. As a result I had a small engine fire that scared the living crap out of me. Luckily all my wiring was saved by all the taping they do. It could have been worse.

Whatever you end up doing, give yourself plenty of time as well.

  11. I did just that and that was the problem. Oil was flowing back into the pan. I changed the o-ring but after talking to Rex there were a few diffrent colors so I tried one last time and it solved the problem. The oil pressure is better than before, and no engin tear down.

Your problem sounds all too familiar.

One thing to remember when pulling off and replacing the oil pump is to insert the pick-up tube into the pump first and tighten it down. The last thing you should do is bolt it to the block. Reason is, when you already have it bolted to the block, the pick-up tube is cut to a length that already has that tube up in the pump. Doing the tube first alleviates fighting to get it up in there and potentially pinching or damaging your o-ring. I realize it is a moot point now. It took me a couple of times before I realized how much easier it was doing it that way and I didn't have that little worry in the back of my mind that I may have damaged my o-ring - after reading of so many issues people have had before on PT.net.

  12. I saw this thread and thought someone in my area had seen me driving the truck today - actually drove it to work. :D

Supersport - no track time yet. As much as I want to go, I know I would be mad at myself if I broke anything and then ended up stuck at home on weekends and not able to fish. I guess the risks just don't outweigh anything else. Being on the water is the only way I am able to just forget about everything going on in my life.
