  1. Hey Welcome to the site. Wish I had saw your post earlier. There was a 2003 SS being parted out on Craigslist and he had a transfer case for about 400. truck only had about 10000 miles on it. I got the A/C compressor myself. Just to let you know there is a get together that we are trying to get started in phoenix. I don't want to be the only Ol blue there. Here's the link.

  2. it really all depends on when and where for me. Labor day is no go, will be in Vegas, beginning of Aug, maybe. My schedule has been so crappy lately I don't even get out for myself. Depending when everyone can even meet and the weather I would have no problem even having it at my place and we can cook out and hit the pool all day, just a warning though, the dog will prob bite ya but then she will become your best friend. Try to see when it works best for everyone and I can try to plan around it.

I don't think labor day would be good because most people have other plans for Labor Day.

  3. post-17446-127977147071_thumb.jpgI'm sure we would have plenty of time to plan. Is Watson off the I-10 ok? And to anyone interested please note if this location is good or suggest a new one. I'm looking at a empty parking lot in front of AutoZone where I've seen small hot rod get togethers before. Might be able to do a short cruise to somewhere to eat. And I'm sure a good time would be around 5:30 pm to beat some of the heat.

  4. As I said before I'm in.... I have no idea where to meet..

I sent some emails to other phoenix members hoping to get something started. I know of a cool place but it's in Watson on my side of town and that's probally too far for everyone. I was hoping some other members would get in and make some sugestions that would be more of a central location for everyone. Or if eveyone is fine with Watson that would be fine by me.

  5. I agree with eveything eveyone is saying. With the pride and the SS heritage. Same goes for the 80's monte carlo SS, 90's Impala SS and 90's SSS . They were limited production and had all the goodies we are accustomed to seeing in an SS. But what is up with the seemingly unlimited number of late model Impala's Colbolt's and monte carlo SS's you see now. I try to overlook it but I can't help but think that Chevy is taking some pride away from the SS name by producing so many of these and it's usually only a V-8 or small supercharger and badges.

  6. I have seen quite a few SS Silverados around and I have always been interested in the way they sound. To be honest, the best sounding one I have heard is the one I drive. I have Hooker headers and a full Magnaflow catback that exits straight out the back. It sounds amazing I assure you. I have even had another SS owner comment on the fact that it sounds better than his. If you are interested in me sending you a video so you can hear it I will be happy to. My email is [email protected]. Good luck!

Welcome to the site Jose!!! If your'e like me you're truck will go in your will!

I would like to hear that sound to compare. [email protected] I have flowmasters one in and one out on true duals with rectangular tips behind rear tires and the only thing I haven't been happy with is the way the tips are tuned. Doesn't sound as good in park but sounds awsome running WOT down the track. I'm thinking I just need a better tuned set of tips and headers.

  7. You missed a good time and fun races. There were only a few of us. I would say 6 or 7. The car show would be cool too. Try to make that. Are you here in AZ for school or something?

No I just moved here. Got a job at Palo Verde. I'll keep watch even though this coming Sat would be the worst because my wife's due date for a new baby is Sat. She might get upset if I miss that. But we'll see how it goes.

  8. So basically your truck is winding out in 1st gear, then banging into the next? If so, it sounds like a cracked accumulator, the transmission will need to be opened up in order to change it.....

That's an idea but it also is acting the same for all gear shifts. I don't know much about the internals of the tranny so if anything needs changed i will have to pay someone. Thanks for the help!

  9. 2003 SS Silverado

Was reading threw the forums and didn't see this particular problem. Was hoping someone would have an idea before i went and spent the money on repairs. The problem only happens at WOT. The truck is not wanting to shift till late around 5 -6000 rpm and when it does it shifts hard. It just started about a week ago. It also seems to stop gathering speed as good as it used too right before it does finally decide to shift. And again it shifts fine in normal driving. I also noticed that once i reach 90MPH it will not go into overdrive. Almost seems like it is not getting enough pressure to shift at WOT. I checked the fluid level and it is way above the full mark no matter if the engine is cold or hot. The fluid does still look nice and red even though the truck has 90,000 miles. Maybe a fluid and filter change? Or does it have a fluid pressure manifold somewhere that is stopped up and needs cleaning? I did lower the settings on my hand held programmer on shift points but that had no effect. It also seems to be having difficulty shifting in the same manner in every gear shift as long as i have it at WOT. Any help would be appreciated.

  10. I think i'm getting out of the mail order game and going see Futral Motorsports in Walker after my next round of mods.

I went and talked to them a while back and I'm not sure but it seems like it was about 800 and I don't think they were too interested in talking to me once they saw I didn't have the money to do it right then. I pass by them everyday on my way home from work. That was about a year ago.

  11. welcome to the site! what does it mean? something against lightning f150's?
Yep. Thanks for the welcome. I've spent more time reading than posting though. There's a lot of stuff about my truck on here. Help me know the production for 03' and that blue is the rarest. And that I definitly want a mail order tune when i have the money.
  12. There is no doubt in my mind they will be collectable. The SSS is not overdone like some of the other SS's IE Monte Carlo and Impala. 20-30 years ago everyone was wondering if the Camaro's, Firebirds and other GM cars would be collectable and look at them now and they come in many colors. I myself was a sceptic back in 91 when the 454SS came out and look at how the value has been rising on it. Especialy the Cyclone, Typhoon and grandnational even though their value has been up from the start because their rare and really fast at the same time. Give our beloved SSS 15 to 20 more years and lets see. I just wish GM would have offered more than 1 engine combination just like they did for the 60's SS's. (Maybe a Supercharged 6.0 or GM Performance BB Crate?)

  13. From that picture on the left they look alrite, but I dont plan on spending money on them (and I need a driver side mirror). I like the stock ones.

It seems to me that anything you change on a SS just changes the look. I had aftermarket rims on it for a year and had a lot of people ask me if it was a real SS. So I put the SS rims back on. The mirrors were on my old SS lookalike that was wrecked so I didn't pay for them directly.
