  1. I remember those pics like your avatar and that screen. I'm putting together a build thread!!! Haha. Finally got a real SS so gotta change up some profile stuff here but I'll never leave this site. I get hooked over and over every few weeks and can't stay off it. Glad to see your back around. I keep dreaming and hoping we see a t shirt and hat thread or a pic summision and voting for the next years calendar and stuff like that. Unfortunately like Aldo said, a lot moved on to diff vehicle since these trucks getting older and harder to find every day. Sad. Loved the SS like no other vehicle for 15 years and I just can't have faith hat GM will ever build a truck that looks as good as they do. (Deff not after seeing that 2019 Chevy tundra-150 there gonna make) but maybe they will surprise me and the RST version will be cool again. Lol
  2. John at Kelley performance also made some of those in the same text and size that said "supercharged" and "turbocharged". They were pretty damn cool!! Hopefully he's still around. Not related but interesting.... I seen the current owner had Kelley performances old Gibbs shop truck on eBay just recently and John wrote part of the description for it explaining the upgrades and brought back memories of the old days lol.
  3. That's a huge change for sure. Looking good. No matter what... a project/build truck will never truly be complete. But that's the fun part is always finding small things (or major), to change up and have new and diff look after a few years. When it's "done" it can get boring with nothing to do lol. Can always keep a eye out for cheap stock wheels on Craigslist to run till you get the ones you really want again. I seen tony (NorCal SS) has some killer deals on some wheels not long ago so may find a deal on a nice setup and can sell down the road if you want when find some billets again. Tony has the site TBSSowners.com and a store to buy all kinda goodies like rep wheels and suspension parts. I like the way you mounted the billet inserts in the 03-05 grille. Did you remove the stock mesh? I had a 02 I built and I cut out the stock grill mesh and shortened and removed a bar on my billet insert pieces then custom made brackets to mount them in but a little recessed. I always loved the look like that with no stock mesh behind the billet so have been thinking a lot about doing something similar to my 03-05 grille. I had a clone before my SS and tried it and it did work out, but was super flimsy even with the outline part still in there. Was a good test experiment so I'd love to hear what you did. It looks like you had to do that cause one pic looks like the billet is recessed into the grille? May be wrong but intrested to hear either way lol. Also I haven't seen many cowl hoods for the 06 style. Assume they are super hard to find but intrested to see if you have a certain hood picked out already that you plan on finding. But keep the updates coming. Love seeing them come together. Nice work.
  4. I'm in for one. Polished with victory red inlay if possible. Email me anytime and we can discuss payment and get it handled. Thanks. [email protected]
  5. Welcome from Columbus Ohio! Not too far away! Hopefully we'll meet this summer at a show or something!
  6. Think I know what plate Ima try for. Sketchy in exact lettering. Is this a dumb idea.... (7 characters in Ohio? Obsessed has 1 letter too many so maybe OBSESSD OBSSSED thoughts? Still get to have the SS on there.
  7. I've had some weird issues similar to this in previous silverados like dying then coming right back to life during turning corners. Went to tighten negative cable and the whole negative terminal just kinda broke/fell off the battery well it was still bolted to the negative cable/terminal. Crazy at the time but guess it was common for a bit back then. Was a AC delco stock battery but I've seen it happen to other batterys now too. I would bank on a new battery or swap a diff one in to see if that solves it then swap back and see if problem is back. Keep us posted
  8. Man I am deff not a fan of these 2019s. I seen a few pics of diff configurations and the work truck don't have a center bow tie. Says Chevrolet across the black plastic front with a tiny bow tie in corner. Not interested. Only hope is I see is they list a RST package. With the Tahoe RST being pretty cool with body color parts, big brakes, RST wheels, the 6.2L (still think it should have a stock blower on it), etc..... hopefully they make a SS-like street truck out of the Silverado RST (if it's ever even produced) and it has more to it that will make it rare and unique than some badges and wheels. Who knows anymore. Fingers crossed the GMC will look killer even tho the prices are approaching home price territory now.
  9. DetJoe!!! Welcome back. Glad to see ya! Great to have a experienced vet back around here. Look forward to having your knowledge and history with these trucks back to help out the new builds. Excited cause I deff learned a lot from your past posts even if it was long ago.
  10. A lot of factors will go into that choice. A little info would help us out in that. Did you lift or plan to lift it? Stock wheels or you going with a diff wheel package? What are your ideas of what you expect or want out of the truck? Do you want a street truck or do you want it to be a mild off road looking 4wd kinda truck then? (Assuming so from the tire idea so far). I personally wouldt choose a set of off road tires at all ever, no matter which ones, but the SS was made for, and is a sport/street truck and that's what, in my case, I intend to use it for its whole life so wouldt make sense in my case.
  11. Body wise and wheels makes it look more like what a new SS could look like if made. Simple body color with just the correct emblems. And put on the right way, surprisingly lol
  12. Hello. Quick back story.... (actually kinda long post but felt it nessasry for some reason to type this much so I apologize before hand for length of text). I have a 05 red SS 2wd with chromes and sunroof that I lucked into a once in a lifetime deal and got a few months ago. Mid 50k for miles. I decided to return everything back to as perfect as I could, just like the day it rolled off the line, and anything I disassembled would be upgraded hopefully well I build the truck or at least put back together as good as it was new. I'm third owner and the second owner, the one I got it from, was family of original buyer. So it went from not being drove really ever to a unknowing person just trashing and beating it and using it like a everyday work truck for the year or so they had it. Was disgusting how the idiot treated this truck but I saved it big time. The original owner had a sound system of some sorts at some point and apparently someone had stole it. So it was missing a driver door speaker, and few others and they cut the plugs for those and everything. It had a stock radio I think from a late 90s truck in it somehow. It powered up but no sound cause speakers were all gone or a million other reason since wrong head unit. It was just kinda sitting in the radio hole in the dash. So gonna search down a stock 6disc indash unit eventually cause that was factory in it when new from reading the globe box codes, until I eventually get a nice touch screen one day. I spent a few weeks just removing everything that wasent on the truck stock that someone had added to it. It had some red underbody neons that looked like micky mouse installed 10 years ago. Actually got them working and one one was burned out haha, but those were gone quick along with all the terrible wiring they did. For some reason they had 3-4 toggle switches mounted throughout the cab that I discover slowly and traced and removed. They must of had a old school "first gen" DVD head unit cause I found the "brain" box still laying under the console along with iPod interface and a big old Bluetooth connection type box. So eliminated all that and all the crazy nest of wires they had everywhere that were half pulled out and some cut. So all that is out now and gone. Everything that shouldt be there stock is gone from under hood and interior so clean slate to start over. Plan to run all new stereo system, and all new wiring for all the speakers and components, all done proper and correct as can be. I haven't even got into all the weird stickers on every window and all the skull and bones emblems and walmart type stick on chrome plastic all gone too but I'll save those story's for my build thread that's in the works and "coming soon". The paint and the outside is a whole other story lol. So I started pulling apart my interior roof so I can remove and recover the headliner. Likely gonna go with a dark grey suede that matches the SS "very dark pewter" color. Black suede is tempting but I don't yet. If i do black suede, I'll. E inclined to want to start doing every interior piece in black suede and not sure I wanna do that yet. Anyways.... the headliner had peeled on both sides and the previous owner used thumb tacks to stick it back up. Not cool. So I've only pulled out the headliners in trucks with a stock sunroof a few times. Was fun seeing all the stuff in there not touched since they built it but anyway I'll proceed with some interesting things I discovered just to get the info out there. After I got headliner completely out, which was a pain cause you have to either cut the glue holding all the wire harnesses to it and leave the harnesses in truck or trace back and disconnect them all. I cut the glue and just taped the harnesses back to the roof for now. Will glue them back to underside of liner when it goes back in. Have to research best way to dye the rubber strip that goes around the sunroof on the inside since it don't look fun to remove but that's later down the road. So I'm messing around with it and get headliner out and set it aside for now. I had a podcast started in headphones and a lot of coffee so what the hell, it was time to pull out the seats, console and maybe carpet to start a real and thorough full deep clean detail. Passages seat removed, no issues, get to driver seat and I noticed (remembered) that I always had a issue with driver seat and it would only move forward and back a few inches each way and would stop. Maybe 6 inches total of front/rear movement. Both seat heaters work perfect and all the other functions including the lumber worked good too. Just that one function. That one function also is needed to move seat forward enough to get to the rear seat bolt on driver side. Truck has had a service airbag light since I got it but I haven't had a chance to get my hands on a tech2 or solus or anything capable or reading airbag systems yet. Kinda figured it was the module under seat because it has sensors and plugs so figured it could be related but still unsure as of today. I started researching and realized it's kinda difficult to find the info for the full breakdown on everything under the seat. Modules, plugs, wiring, switches and all the motors under there to move the seat. Just not easy to find all that info and in depth write ups. So I figured something is binding up somewhere and telling that motor to stop moving. I got it traced to the front most motor under seat towards the front of the truck. Could see that it has some bars incased in plastic running from either side of that motor to the rails. The ends where they meet the silver metal blocks that sit in the tracks looked a little stripped or rough when pulled back the plastic. So checked all plugs and connections and did some trouble shooting a while. Looking at the position of the passager setup for reference, I used a long screw driver as a small pry bar and pryed up on motor and back down and kept wiggling it around well hitting button back and forth to move seat. Here's the weird part. If I get that motor and bars in just the right position,it reverses something, somewhere and the seat can then move from the position that it previously was in when all the way forward as far as it would go and that spot now became the farthest back spot and it would move real far forward. But the odd part is, when I get it to that sweet spot (which is very hard to find, the button starts to work opposite. The seat will move forward by pressing the button backwards and then back by pressing the slide button forward. So it's odd cause it just goes from nothing when seats all the way forward to all the sudden working again but with reversed polarity I'd assume. So that's what I'm working on right now with it. I wanted to share this link I found though cause I feel it's a must have for the site. I've never seen a well wrote explanation of the full power seats breakdown and this link is that. Explains how everything seat related all communicate from the motors to the seat heaters to the switchs and wiring and what is happening in what ways so you can break it all down and trouble shoot it to figure out what solution you need. http://www.gmtruckclub.com/forum/threads/repairing-heated-seats-and-the-memory-power-adjustment-system-1999-2006.108685/ I know this post is ridiculous long and that's prob annoying to some people but with how long I've been on this site, I felt that it was something very useful and technical and should be brought up and shared here so it's in the archives. From what I can tell it's a fairly common problem and can get very expensive with dealers throwing new parts at it and some that need programmed or flashed to the vehicle. I'm not sure the exact fix for my seat just yet but it helped me narrow it down and at least I could move the seat to unbolt it but it deff put me in the right direction that's for sure so have to share that info lol. Pretty sure I'll replace the front motor and find some worn out parts where those thin rods meet that front seat motor. Likely will replace the switches also just to be sure that's not a issue cause I know the switchs have there history of going bad. Apologize for post length and no pics but gotta figure out this stupid photobucket stuff or a new image host or something to get them posted from my phone. I really hope this helps others out one day in the future and it was helpful. I love how technical this site is compared to some other similar ones and this could fit in here. Also it can be a place for others to post there experience, questions and results from issues with these type of seat issues. I no longer am with GM at a dealership where I was for over a decade so a lot different tackling issues wiith our being at a GM service shop all day and access to the scan tools and AllData systems. If anyone is in that position or has that access it would be really cool to get the full broke down illustrations of the power seat setups just to have here for reference in future. Hell maybe I'm totally wrong and I got a diff issue all together, who knows. We'll see. Thanks for reading and suffering through my terrible grammar and on and on and on rambling about a simple thing. Mods can feel free to edit anything if title could be better or change location of thread or whatever they find helpful or necessary. Hell I could be all wrong about all of it, and how everything works in conjunction. Who knows!? But I'll update with pics when I can figure that out and any new info that I learn on the setup. Hope we get some responses and feedback from everyone here! Thanks SSS community!
  13. Congrats on the deal and welcome! There is info on this site to keep you reading for ages. Hide your wallet ASAP!!! Lol. Sounds like your pretty familiar with the LQ9 already tho, with the parts you have already collected. Gonna be a fun truck and you'll love it no doubt. You ever have a SS before or this your first one? There was a pretty common issue (was a big recall also) on the steering shaft clunk. There is some great write ups with all info you'll need on here if you look around a bit. Should be at top of one section I think. I'd start there since it does it so common and no matter the condition. Can move on after that to bigger things if need too. Hopefully you won't have to trace anything to a front diff issue. I have a 2wd and all the clones or other Chevy performance trucks I had were 2wd so I can't speak on the diff issues that we'll so if you get there (hopefully you don't) I'm sure another awd owner will chime in.
  14. Updated list Akslowroller-1 Luism111-2 Callahan24-1 Andrew- 2 (Facebook post) Lilez02- 1 SavingPvtEric- 1 Ab1M@3L- 1 Only 1 more to go! Almost there guys!
  15. I would deff recommend to dye them also. It's super easy to use and way easier/more forgiving than paint. I had to replace a bunch of plastic parts on door panels that were the victim of a shitty high school custom job from previous owner and I think most if not all SS trucks are "very dark pewter" with the "shale" up top. I wouldt hesitate to use that SEM dye that Tranz Zam mentioned. I could only find it in person at summit racing but it was around $20 a can. Expensive but the quality makes up for it. I was shocked after third trip to "pick and pull" junkyards and was still having a hard time finding the correct "very dark pewter" pieces so had look into a diff route. Any other grey, dark grey, charcoal, or dark charcoal paint or dye will stand out terrible against the very dark pewter color and will stand out as much as the shale parts do so I would recommend against doing anything that's just "similar" in my opinion. But here's what I noticed with the plastics like the inside mirror covers and fuse box panel etc.... If you pull one of the parts off and look around on back it should have all the diff part numbers and color names that that perticular piece came manufactured in. That's how I was able to tell roughly what year truck the part was from since diff years had diff color options available. Example: Pieces from my 02 Silverado (also very dark pewter color code) looked same as the 05 part but I could tell the older or newer "set" of available colors on the back to tell which was older and which was newer. Weird they mold every color code into each piece. But I would guess that if you pulled down that center plastic part or another stock headliner colored plastic part, you could find out if they did, in fact, ever mold that part in a diff color and that would answer the question if that piece exist in the color your seeking. Even have a number to start searching for if so. I would assume with almost 100% certainty that they only made it in 1-3 colors and none were made in the color your looking for. Sorry if that's hard to explain. Got a little excited cause I been playing the plastic tracking game for over a month now and found that info very interesting Haha. They always wanted a real light colored headliner/roof liner to trick your mind into thinking there was more space inside. how do you like the suede liner in your truck? Holding up well so far? Would love to see some more pics posted here eventually and keep us updated on what route you go.
  16. Damn good info right there. Thanks for that @chevyss05tx. Even if that was copy and paste from somewhere, (looks like you wrote it), that's the kinda post and info that keeps me addicted to this site!
  17. When put leds in the lower inside door panels and the puddle lights they look like they have a tiny bit of power going to them and are faintly lit up. Just barley tho. Same brand bulbs and same that are in this thread. I don't drive my SS much so I took them back out for now. Anyone have this issue. No issue with these bulbs in the dome lights, markers or plate lights. Not to well versed in the LEDs enough so figured I'd ask.
  18. Cool glad we could all help out. Throw up some pics sometime and what ya think about them once installed
  19. That is cool!! Really like that color combo on the plates now. I always thought why couldt you just make plate any color as long as it was readable in same font with appropriate info or stickers still present. Like my Ohio plate in victory red with white or black letters.
  20. Front and rear? Can you be more specific on your "drop". If it's a stock intimidator, it should be same as any other stock Silverado SS 2wd 05-07c suspension. Belltech street performance shocks are great set for these sss trucks. I've had them on 4 diff GM truck/SUV and love them. They sell them for stock height or for lowered setups. Need to know the overall drop you have and what you expect from the new shocks to help out with best options tho. There is member on here, NorCal SS who is a dealer and can help you with ordering also.
  21. Very cool! I love the custom tag threads. I gotta figure out a cool one for a 05 red 2wd next summer.
  22. I'm in for one of these! Polished with red inlay, if that's possible? Email is [email protected] if I miss a update on here or any one needs to contact direct. Ok so the list so far. Akslowroller-1 Luism111-2 Callahan24-1 Andrew- 2 (Facebook post) Lilez02- 1 Only 3 more to go!
  23. Maybe letting it sit in the sun or little heat gun action could make them easier? Couldt hurt being warm I guess. Mine were rough as hell too but got it done nervously. I swapped all the 194 style bulbs and it's great. Good recommendation there for sure.
