hmmm...thats interesting about the sealed vs unsealed argument. well let me ask this; i've been thinking for a while about grabbing some things from lowes and making a ram air tube. i looked around and it wouldnt be hard to make at all, especially if i ran it through one of the slots in my bumper. would it be worth the trouble to make it though since mine is open rather than sealed? have you tested anything like this before? the two slots in the middle of the bumper would be where i would run it from if it would be worth the trouble...

hahaha no worries man...didnt take it that way at all...maybe i should be awarded some ass points for the way i have it rigged up now. i took a little piece of wrap off the pipe running from the hot water heater to the house in my garage and scotched it between the intake tube and hose. definately didnt work...and looks super redneck

maybe i am over-analyzing it...i dont have exact temps...i was basing this on feeling how hot the tube was...i drove from my house to walmart...roughly a 4-5 minute drive....on a cold start this evening. i popped the hood to feel the intake tube and it was hot. after cruising down the interstate at 70 mph though it seems to be slightly cooler than around town, but not signifigantly cooler. engine temps while driving are around 180 and jump to 210 when sitting in traffic until the fans click on. should i be looking into sealing this one up someway? ...or looking for a whole new sealed intake alltogether?

i bought a cheap spectre cai off of jegs for $105 a few months back. i thought i was getting a great deal until i figured out my iat is way too high. the intake tube conveniently sits on the radiator hose, thus heating it up and making it hot to the touch . i've taken it off several times to try to situate it to where it would be off of the hose, but i could never get it completely off the hose. the hot late summer air combined with tennessee's wonderful humidity are adding up and making matters worse. i know that i should have went with a good intake and i know you get what you pay for, but is there any way to salvage this one and make it into a respectable cai? college is starting back up here in a few weeks and cash is on the low. sorry for the iphone pictures...
