  1. I was lucky enough to be safely off the interstate and waiting in 70's and sun with help on the way - "it is what it is" and it coulda been a lot worse. Free towing and fixed near where I was going to stay for the night anyways. averaged 17mpg for the week/trip with a decent period of 80+mph on the interstates
  2. Took the SS down to the Florida Keys for some fun in the sun this past week - all went well until we were heading back and started to hear some nasty grinding and growl coming from the front driverside... sounded almost like a flat so pulled into a gas station and checked tires/brakes but all was good - headed back down the on ramp and it was the worst sound i'd ever heard when 900 miles from home 4pm on a Friday. Made it to the next exit and hopped on the phone and gps - AAA had a flatbed onsite in 45 minutes and I was hauled to a chevy dealer in Hendersonville. 88 miles from my buddies place in Asheville, NC and my AAA gets me up to 100 miles tow FREE, that dealership was on the way. Tossed back a few that night while the truck sat at the shop and 9:30am that next day (Saturday) I had a phone call confirming my front hub assembly was shot and they could have it ready by noon. All-in-all this was a great trip and as far as the truck breaking down it couldn't have worked out better... We have a few silverados in the family and the wheel bearings/hub assemblys seem to go... they went at 70k and 80k on my uncles and cousins - got'em beat with 118k on the SS
  3. Got home from work today and thought the truck was looking pretty good for how wet it's been... Let me know what ya think
  4. Ha yup, been zapped a few times... i used a stungun as an ignitor for a potato-gun and got myself in the building process; once also for curiousity and the second by mistake when the electrodes were shorting to the metal handle 100,000 volts of fun
  5. Ahh... the one time my SS played in mud
  6. all show, no go, what a nice looking waste tho... and that suzuki is holy f****** hilarious
  7. ha yeah i got pretty close to quite a bit of stuff... including the cameraman during one of the whips. as for the pole... not exactly the best day for the car but that ebrake sure is fun when i'm looking to get reckless can't wait to get back to my rides; until then i get to beat on an 09 altima while i'm working up in Canada... gotta love rentals
  8. Only took two snow storms and the month of December sitting at home because lack of work... Back in the swing of things now, thankfully, but here's the video I've made over the past few weeks while I was off. Let me know what you think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7HatIBXoo0 Some video shenanigans
  9. I'm thinking a 4wheeler and fishing trip down to Florida for some Tarpon this spring... Might have to drive the truck down there now that I've seen pix of the "Red Led Instrumention On 2006 Crew Cab *pics* " posted by black00chev
  10. Was too busy playing to stop for pix during the last snow but it's coming down once again... let the fun begin
  11. Welcome from Kenosha Here's a pic of my 04 AWD victory red SS - go for it and enjoy the snow!
  12. AEM Brute Force intake and a PCMforLess street tune I got some rattling going on so will be looking into exhaust once the weather clears up a bit... remote start might come next tho:)
  13. My buddy and I were out in the SS during the first big snow storm of the year in Wisconsin whipping around looking for people to pull out of the ditch. He put together the vid for some project - check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9g3Zh00Hk0
  14. Got any pix? I've been thinking about going dual exhaust out in front of the rear wheels...
  15. Know of any cat-back exhaust setups out there that are dual side exit in front of the rear wheels? The idea of dual exhaust came to mind the other night... thought something like dual tips coming out each side in front of the rear would look nice. Any thoughts?
  16. I'm from Whitewater, currently living in Kenosha, but work is based up in Phillips, WI. Will be sure to hit up one of these forums to put the word out when i'm ready for racing. Just put on my intake, love the sound and it increased my mileage to ~17mpg during my drive down to Asheville, NC. Getting a street tune in Mooresville Monday morning before the drive back to Wisconsin. Ran into a fellow red SS with a red hard cover while driving thru Kentucky, him and another silverado were out and came along side me on the interstate for a little go-at-it. Made for a good time - even got a Ferrari to jump on it!
  17. Hey fellow SS owners Been a member for a little while now and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a Field Service Engineer and work on paper converting/sheeting/corrugating machinery throughout the world. Picked up my 04 SS earlier this year and it's been a lot of fun - just ordered an AEM Brute Force intake and will be driving to North Carolina to visit some friends this weekend and get a tune from PCM4Less while I'm in the area! This is the second trip to NC with the truck - should be interesting to see the difference with intake on the way down and then after the tune on the way back...
  18. My 04 SS just rolled over 95k... put on 16k w/o issue since I bought it mid Feb. Just recently started to notice the steering clunk but I hear it's not too hard of a fix... unbolt the steering shaft, slide back and forth a bit and bolt back together. I'm gonna give it a try this weekend if I get around to it.
