Too bad this idea didn't get tossed around back when I drove the SS down the Key West!
That'd turned into a very $$$ trip from WI. I'd totally do it if someone paid for the gas lol
-
wow I didn't realize those mustangs were 415hp and still getting 27+ highway
I still like the camaro but can't let myself pull the trigger because of the mpg...
Tough call going Ford but hey... when it breaks you can always try and sell it.

stock bose radio faceplate? bose front door speakers? driver side door panel?
-
Back when I ordered mine I had selected the 05 fans as well. I'm guessing this was a recent find by pcmforless...
-
yeah PCMforLess says 30amp with the LS1 camaro fans should be fine but they recommend 40amp if using the 34" truck fans
-
Only had to upgrade the fuses to 40amp.
alternater is working fine. I just notice a voltage drop every now and then so I'm keeping an eye on it.
-
Got it working again! Heard back from PCM4Less and the 30amp fuses were for the ls1 camaro fans. My truck uses the bigger 34" truck fans that require 40amp fuses..which they are including with their new harnesses to avoid this issue.
I also noticed an occasional voltage drop at idle. So I may upgrade to a larger alternater sooner than later... Mine is only a year old if anyone is looking. Sell my standard oem to help fund the upgrade!

where did you find the stereo faceplate? i'm not a fan of the carbon fiber look but my buttons are all jacked up
-
i'm at a low LOW 220,000miles haha oh how i would love to have it back when it had only 50

I had simular problems with my HPM E-Fans not working and blowing fuses. The problem turned out to be a bad connection in the quick disconnection between the fans and the fuse blocks, relays. I replaced the quick disconection with new one and there back to working again. I hope this will help you out.
So you replaced all connections? fuse holders, connectors at the fans, and at the relays? sounds like an entire new harness?
Still haven't had time to check for voltage drop before the fuses blow. I've got an email out to PCMforLess too.
-
Pcmforless did the tune and I don't have a copy or way to read it off the truck.
I'll have to put a meter on it and check the voltage drop. Maybe I've had the problem all along but am just now noticing it in hot packed traffic.
Ground connection looks clean. I'll look into it more when I check fuses again tonight after work.
-
Replaced the blown fuses last night and they were blown again when I got to work this morning.
I found a few new relays here at work. I'm trying new fuses (again), one new relay, and the other original. Hoping maybe it's a relay problem.
My alternator was replaced a few months before efans came into mind so I've got the standard amperage... you think the higher amperage alt made the difference?
What settings are there for the patch? I had the fan patch added at my last tune but that was before I had the efans installed...
-
I'm hoping it is just fuses. I've had the fans on now for a couple years and just this last month I've noticed it heating up but never enough to look into it.
Thanks for the tip

Ive upgraded to efans a while ago and now I'm sitting on the side of the road waiting for the truck to cool down.
Using the harness from pcmforless and fans from an 05 silverado, I've popped both 30amp fuses.
Having only a paper clip, I McGyver'd the new "fuses" and both fans worked...until the paperclips smoked and melted the plugs. Back to overheating.
Normally been running near 210... Doesn't take more than a couple minutes at a long light and its up near the red.
I was going to sleep at home tonight but now am looking into hotels.
Any ideas what could be causing the fuses to blow? I wouldn't expect oem fans to draw 30amp so could both relays be bad?? If so, does anyone know where to get replacement relays for the pcmforless efan harnesses?

I've tossed around the idea of selling my black 20" reps... but just tossed them on the truck for the summer.
you looking for rims+tires?
-
That would be nice to see. They have been hinting at more "halo" trucks all the time but nothing has yet happened.
Chevy Had the ZR2 concept, and GMC had the All Terrain HD concept, both would be great off roading beasts to match the Raptor. Of course a SS version would be nice to see as well but it better thave a 500+ 7.0 or a Supercharged 6.2L
I would LOVE to see a 7.0 or supercharged 6.2L option... i've dreamed about romping my truck with a 7.0 swap
-
My truck just had same problem but misfires on 1, 3, 4, and 7. I think I only had about 50k or so on them but turned out to still be plugs and wires.
I've also heard rotten egg smell could be bad cats... you say you're 100% stock... my truck ran like crap when my cats rotted loose inside.
Goodluck!

94,000. I blew the motor awhile back in my beater cavalier so the SS has been my DD ever since
lol my SS became my DD the day my sunbird blew the motor

.....hint......hint Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
WI meet would be cool - I'd go.

I have fiberglass socks from NAPA and replaced the rear four because they'd been melted or worn thru.
Picked up a couple extra too so maybe double-socking it ain't a bad idea
lol
-
Yep looked into it more lastnight and found a few spark plug wires arcing to my longtubes. Looked into it it even further and found misfires on 1, 3, 4, AND 7. Luckily we run 8 under the hood eh
New plugs and wires on this morning and the truck is back running great.
Next is brakes front/rear and hopefully the right wheel bearing holds together a bit longer... the month of May has been a moneypit so far.
Thanks to all for the help

216,xxx miles now after I bought it Feb'09 with 79k.
I've replaced both front wheel bearings twice, misc suspension parts, oil cooler lines, and had the top of motor torn down to get at the broken exhaust manifold bolts when I put on my longtubes. Only other big expense was transfer case at 200k. Now the speakers are getting old and buttons are falling off the Bose radio.
The rest was maintenance/fluids/belts.
...might be throwing new wires/plugs at it again soon now it's running like crap
-
I drove through the automated carwash. Done it a million times. Buddy of mine mentioned hood seal could be leaking onto the coil pack? He's had that happen and went through 4 coil packs in 6 months before figuring it out..but he's a Ford guy...
Not sure when I last put new plugs and wires but I know its been done before. Might have been 60k+ miles ago
