  4. A guy in calgary quoted me $2800 to fully build my trans, seems cheap to me! Id like to keep the converter close to stock too. how much boost have you guys been running on stock pistons, I stepped down to a 3.4'' pulley for now and I wanna make sure it would be safe to go any smaller. How fast are the black bear guys for turn around?
  5. Yes, stock transmission, i know i will have to do it sooner or later. Does a guys band-ade it or just go in and do it all up front? I got my kit from davenport, steve quoted me for the tune. How/ where do i get this black bear tune?
  6. Well last weekend was the install, everything went really well! I cant say enough good things about magnacharger, the parts instructions and blower were top notch! In total it was seven hours from start to finish, thats with three of us and an overhead crane. (lots of miller time though lol) No knock or extra engine noise so far. With the 1 7/8'' american racing headers, 3'' cat less mid pipes and B&B exhaust i am very happy with the sound and response. The 90mm throttle body and X link has worked flawlessly thus far so i guess im a happy guy. The TVS seems to be very quiet but it pulls hard. I have stepped down to a 3.4'' pulley, what kind of boost am i looking at? How far can i go downsizing pulleys with stock internals before im in danger of wrecking something? I have had to crank the truck over longer or twice to get it started, am i loosing fuel pressure? The shift points seem to be a little off as well, I a good tune is needed. Im in calgary and the shop that sold me the system says that a minimum of $500 worth of tuning should be done, does this seem pricy to anyone? where else can I look for a custom tune? or is the magnacharger program good enough? Where does a guy start with the transmission?

  8. Thanks! well the deal i got only included the headers so i guess I cant complain, and to be honest i enjoy making the mid pipes that way i know the quality is good and they are exactly what i want.
  9. I just got my headers today for $780 canadian! american racing 1 7/8'' LS6 P&P throttle body with oversize motor and DR. X link. Some high rise aluminum valve covers for some shine. and the truck is going in for paint monday. My TVS 1900 is on order and should be here this week so i have almost everything lined up. Other engine mods so far are the corsa sport system, volant power core intake, 1.8 crane cam rockers, billet push rods, oversize studs and LS6 valve springs, E cooling fans and 2 1/2'' cat-less mid pipes. I do have a few questions, With these headers hooked up to my corsa system what size mid pipes are best? Im a welder and i have a pipe bender so im going to make my own with no cats, are there any power gains with dual 3'' system or is 2 1/2'' plenty? I heard the 3'' can be very annoying. Also, what size pulley can I go with before I get into serious work to stay "safe" with the tranny and engine? The truck is going to be a daily driver for 8 mouths out of the year so i wanna keep that in mid.
  10. Well i pulled the culprit off and its all okay. I changed the oil and checked the plug and it was all clean. Yesterday I replaced the spark plugs and put some new MSD wires on plus a new air filter and took the truck for a drive and again at low RPM and everything seems tight with lots of torque but as soon as i get into the power band at 75 to 100% throttle same problem, no power and uneven power with fluctuating RPM. No codes were thrown and the A/F raitio was all over the place, mostly rich.
  11. I just removed the passengers valve cover and the most forward rocker seemed to make the most ticking when i tapped it. how much side to side play is preferable? some seemed quite sloppy.
  12. Thanks for the advice! They are upgraded springs. Yesterday was warm so I started it up and there was a noticeable ticking under the passengers side (sounds like a ford) when I get a chance ill pull the cover off, all the work was done less then a year ago at a performance shop would this be something they would cover if it was improperly seated to begin with?
  13. I have a 2004 Lq4 in by truck and I have 170 000 kms on it. Since I have owned the truck it has had no issues up until a few mouths ago and has been a lot of fun. Last summer the truck started lacking power top end and I ended up doing an intake system cleaning and replaced the fuel pump, sender unit and fuel filter, while I had the truck in i picked up new push rods, LS6 springs and new 1.82 rockers. I drove the rest of the summer like this and had no issues, about one week before I parked the truck for the winter (I live in calgary) I noticed it felt really soft on the top end at WOT or close too it and would fluctuate and pulse on highway hill climbs and at WOT. The air fuel ratio would be all over the place. MY mods to this point: Volant CAI B&B exhaust Long tube headers with custom mid pipes and no cats. comp cam valve springs crane cams 1.82 alu rockers crane cams push rods E fans wide band air fuel installed diablo sport tuner and cats tuned out at the shop. I have been planning on fabricating a twin turbo set up, LS6 heads and a possible re build but I really need to make sure the engine and tranny are ready for more power and running strong first and since its parked i figured now would be as good of a time as any. Info as to where my diagnosis should start and common problems would be great. cheers

  15. I recently installed long tube headers, cut out the cats, rear O2 sensors and fabricated new mid pipes. A custom tune was installed the day before so the truck would run with out cats. I drove the truck for the rest of the summer, i noticed there was some flucuation with the rpm at WOT between five and six thousand, at first i thought it was the torque coverter. A few days ago i was on my way back from work when the check engine light came on, my wideband air fuel guage went crazy and I had no throttle response, I pulled over and got a tow home. Tonight i used my programmer to trouble shoot the codes and I found P0101, P0131, and P0151. The system is reading low voltage in bank one and two. Do I have a bad tune, sensors, a short or lack of back pressure? How do I fix this and make sure it doesnt happen again? I reset the codes, am i okay to start the truck or is the problem more indepth? thanks, josh

  17. So im looking to do some top end work to my 04 SS, i have the basics, headers, exhaust, intake, tune, TBS, electric fans, and high flow cats. The truck is a daily drive. Im looking for more jump these days, i was thinking about a blower but i thought it would be nice to stay away from forced induction. I was thinking of doing atleast an intake manifold and 90mm throtle body but im not sure if its worth the money and which one to get. Also i realise its an involved job but what are heads, cam and the rest of the parts worth? Also what are the options for doing an entire swap for like an LS7 or somthing else that would do the trick? Any info would be great, thanks guys!
  18. I have a 2004 silverado SS. WIth the stock 6 disk changer. yesterday I went into the car wash with the CD player on and working. When I started my truck back up it was not working. when i press the cd/aux button the display goes blank and the cd symbol in the corner flashes. when i press eject it says there are no cds and when I press load it says its full. dealership wants to send it out, any help would be great!
