  1. Anyone in AK still? I was driving around the other day and saw about 10 different SS around town (Anchorage) but wasn't sure if any are even on this site or even know about it. Guess they just drive them and don't know what their driving. Also I've seen a Silver Birch SS at UAA a lot too. I also saw a Black SS get rear ended got the rear and front bumper because it was pushed into the car in front of it . I just replaced my tires at AK Tire Service, with some bridgestone dueler hl alenza tires and they are awesome made it like a new truck (after an alignment though, the Alaska highway screwed it up driving up here)! Anyway just checking in with you guys to see if anything is new!
  2. Cool glad I don't have the only high mileage 2000! My 2000 GMC Sierra has 158,900 miles on it and is still running good, besides replacing the transmission and various engine parts over time... It's for sale though since I bought the SS.
  3. Thanks! Thanks, ya the engine covers were a good idea really dresses it up like the ss cover does...They are from AAT Cars http://www.aatcars.com/engine_covers.html Thanks, sure took a long time and a lot of work... That one might need to have a build thread started as theres a story behind it sort of...But I did post some pictures of it in another thread About half way though I thought it would never come to an end and I felt the same way but I managed to get back on it because I really wanted to drive it to my graduation!
  4. Ya your right it was much better when stacey was on it... Thanks! I've never seen his new show although I did go to his website to get the PPG paint code. Thanks, I was thinking about making it a fleetside too but it was a stepside originally and I had all the parts already. I really did consider doing that but didn't have the extra $$$ to go that route. I did lower it 2/3 though...
  5. Thanks, Your right it was a lot of work, I had to push hard to get it done in this amount of time. Hahahaha, the all terrains, sold them on craigslist and made quite the profit....LOL! By the way the colors called Copperhead Metallic from the tv show "Trucks" which I don't think is even around any more.
  6. Here's some of it at a car show I went to....
  7. Thought I'd show you guys my other truck that I completly built up from the ground up. Started off as a free project truck of craigslist (short bed frame, cab, vin and title). I then completely restored it over the last 2 years basiclly and drove it to my graduation last May! Started off with a Straight six and granny gear 4 speed with a 3.73 posi trac. I decided to get rid of the six and the 4 speed and go with a 5.3L out of a 2002 chevy truck with a 4l60e. Redid the wiring harness and wired it all up. Did all the body work myself and my dad painted it in the carport homemade paint booth . Anyway here's the pics!
  8. Here's some I got (not cell but almost) I thought there were no tires for a second...
  9. I was wondering if there were holes in the metal bumper, thanks! I may use this method when I do decide to install it, for now it's just in the front window... Hahaha, ya I hate to drill holes in a perfect bumper anyways, I'll just wait and see what happens...
  10. Just got a new arrival blue front license plate bracket off ebay since your required to have a front license plate here in Alaska. My truck has never had one since it was from California so there are no holes in the front bumper(I hate to drill them but...its a must). How do I go about attaching it and what would I use to attach it? Things I was thinking of were plastic rivets or self tapping screws? How was it attached from the factory? Thanks
  11. Funny that you replied to this forum, just a bit ago I found your username on LS1tech (XLR8N) and found your posts about the truck! We've been doing a lot of work to the truck mostly bodywork, but we finished the exhaust out the back and fixed all the exaust leaks. We also installed all new glass, got new tires, and fixed all the interior stuff that got broken. Your definetly right about it needing a tune, how should I go about getting the software to tune it? Is HPTuners what you used? Its difenetly got a problem because when your driving it just randomly stalls when slowing down and says "reduced engine power"! Then to top things off it won't restart for a couple minutes...while driving in it wendsday it crapped out 4 times in the middle of traffic so I've got to figure out how to tune, or have someone do it?? It's great to find out what exactly is in it because it was a sort of a mystery...Thanks!
  12. I'm new to the forum and need a bit of help figuring something out. We (my dad) picked up a 2003 Chevy Standard Cab Short bed at an auction. It's been lowered, has stock 20" SS wheels, and it has a completely custom LS1 in it from what appears to be a corvette. It also has a TCI Turbo 400 transmission with a 3600 stall converter. Anyway the engine has a cam in it, doesn't idle below 1100 rpm and shakes the hole truck. The computer has been tuned by the last owner because when I connect a scan tool to it and check the Emission monitors it says the rear oxygen sensors have been deleted it also says there are no codes. The problem I'm having with it is that it seems to be running fine and you will be coming to a stop or slowing down a bit off the throttle and the engine will just start to die out! On the message center it says "reduced engine power" then the truck just turns off and won't restart no matter how much gas you give it. When it does this it has about 55-60 psi + fuel pressure according to the gauge on the pressure regulator mounted to the firewall. Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Engine's covered in bondo dust because I've been pulling dents, also replaced both bedsides, and going to replace front clip with new sheet metal.
  13. The Alcan highway treated it pretty good although some rocks didn't...The windshield which was the original is now cracked right in the line of sight which sucks so I'll have to get a new one. Other than being completely dirty and plastered in bugs it did awesome. Lots of deserted open long stretches of road too so I thoroughly tested it out...if you know what I mean . Here's some pictures of it in Canada, completely dirty and covered in bugs....
  14. Got some pictures downloaded of the SS when I was in Seattle. Left Seattle Sunday, about 3 PM and drove to Anchorage in 3 days. Got in today at 4PM. It was a long trip but fun, especially with the SS! Here's some pictures of it when I was in Seattle with it.
  15. Just got back into Anchorage with the SS this afternoon at 4PM so I'm downloading pictures as we speak..... Thanks for the welcome everyone!
  16. Hey everyone I'm Matthew and I'm 19 and have been reading this forum for a while now and been wanting an SSS for a long time. I've always wanted one and yesterday just picked one up in Fresno(Wasn't really Fresno but on a farm in the middle of nowhere, a Winery), California but I live in Anchorage, Alaska! Crazy! Anyway it's an 2003, Arrival Blue, One Owner, Completely Stock, great shape has some scratches nothing that can't be buffed out though.I'm driving it up as we speak. It runs and drives great, just got up to Oregon in it and I'm headed to Seattle tomorrow. Can't post pics but I will soon enough because I'm on the road and don't have a way to connected the camera to the laptop. -Matthew
