that was gonna be one of my next questions.. if i did unhook it somehow i didnt know if an almost stock ss would blow the tires off or what. because it doesnt really think about spinnin in awd so i didnt know if itd just chirp off the line or if id spin through 60ft or what. i did race a duramax and he destroyed me. ran like 9.0 and i had seen him run earlier in 2wd and it did spin off the line...but then again i talked to him about it and his truck makes 770 ft lbs.

wish i could afford it. only a senior in high school. applied for a job at about a million places so i could do some stuff to it. got CAI and an after market muffler. that 9.76 was on that so basically stock. now ive got the hypertech to bump up shift points and keep engine a little cooler, also shift firmness. while on that topic anyone know the power curve on these trucks. where should i be shiftin to get peak pull and not fall on its face in 2nd gear. but im trying to sell my mud truck so i can do long tubes, and not real sure what else ... thought about cammin it but im not gonna tear into it until im ready to build it and pull some real power out of it.

i need to be edumacated on this i suppose. i ran the SSS at the strip the other night. ran 9.76 @ 73 mph. always lookin to hit somethin a little quicker. so i was curious if AWD robbed any HP to the ground. If so whats the easiest way to unhook it w/o pullin driveshaft or is that the way to go? lookin for 9.6's next time out.

I ran it at the strip the other night and was just goin through the tune and bumped the limiter from stock to like 124 i think. nah i know ill never hit 6000rpm in 4th i was jokin around. but your sayin it wont stay in OD while WOT.? Its not like i ever go that fast and by no means did i need to bump it up at the strip cuz im goin through the traps at like 73 haha but it was for kicks and giggles.

Yeah i ran into the same thing givin my buddy a ride. he asked hey man you ever seen what itll do and i was like nah so i nailed it and stalled at 110 ish and let out and it shifted into OD. so i was like what the heck?? looked at some specs and it says it has top speed limiter at 109 mph and looked at the shift points, because of the 109 mph limiter 3rd gear ends around 4200 rpm and fourth is like 3500 thanks to hypertech i get to change top speed limiter to whatever i want.. so now i can turn 6000 in fourth!! haha i havent done it and dont know what stretch of road i can get rollin on but that was my experience

ok thanks guys. yeah ive got an after market muffler on it and didnt wanna go to duals yet. but was lookin into gettin rid of the 2 cats and factory manifolds to free up some power and quality sound

Sorry yes its a SBC . older carb motor. on a k5 mud toy of mine. imma say mid 80's motor

awesome. if it works out ill just put the stock exhaust manifolds off the 6.0 on the 5.7. not sure if i follow you on the 2 muffler thing. can i not do some type of y pipe and keep the single muffler on it? i know things will need to be re routed but just curious. thanks

hey guys, just curious if 5.7 Long tubes will bolt up and fit on the 6.0 I have a set of long tubes on a truck of mine that i could pull off to put on the ss if they match. i guess im too lazy to look into it all and would like the easy way out if someone knew thanks

Truck is throwing these two codes. engine lean on both banks.. just would like to have someones opinion, im thinkin fuel filter or pump....???

youll fall in love with the truck. i did imediately. mine sat identical to that the day i got it , i matched the front windows with the rear which is 18%, put a muffler and a k&n filter on it and lowered it 1 3/4'' and i love it. now im on the hunt for some wheels, actually workin a deal right now but sharp truck man.

dont have time to pull the wheels today but just wonderin if anyone know about how much the silver stock ss wheels with a 275/60 on it weigh. thanks

I wanna put a chrome/polished/titanium whatever yall wanna call it bowtie on the front of my ss . Just going all chrome and black on the truck so i wanna shiny one. I can get a cover for it for $23 on ebay so if you could beat that price that would be great.

Man I JUST sold my '82 k5 on 39s. Wish i would have read this two weeks ago i'm sure we could have worked something out. I'll keep looking with my 4wd buddies and update you if i find anything.
