  1. I did end up selling the truck. I made a pass on the truck and had an injector fail on me which resulted in melting a piston. I was really pissed off about it and tired of putting money into it so I ended up selling it to a guy I knew. Truck is back up and running now. I've been helping him with the truck from time to time. It currently has a Thompson Motorsports 370 in it. He ended up selling the short block to another guy I know. Heads went to another guy I knows SS. It was fun will it lasted but I'm going to start something new (probably another SS lol). Took me awhile to be able to get back on the site, but I ll be around to answer any questions on how I did things.

  2. Nice! What kinda of power are you making?

I just guess and tell everyone 800+. Its a fair assumption I think, because the only thing I have to base it on was what the truck trapped last time I raced it at the track. That trap number isn't really fair to use anymore because the truck is different now (stock 853 heads vs PRC 225 as cast heads). What no one really knows about this race is the truck went into rep (p1516) as I was passing him so I kinda coasted to the end. I think that has something to do with my tps only reading 98.6% when my truck is commanding 100%. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet.

Haven't posted anything in awhile about the truck so here is the current status. Picked up a set of PRC 225 as cast heads for the truck. I wanted a set of trick flows, but I got these brand new with the lighter valves for 1600$ shipped from a guy over on ls1 tech. Hopefully these do better then the 853's I got off of eBay for 100$ that are currently on the truck. I'm doing a lot of rewiring right now to get everything away from the down pipe on the drivers side of the motor. It's a pretty big pain in the ass. I'm probably going to be switching over to a set of BW S366's when tax season comes around. I found them for 575$ over at theboostlab.com which is the best price I've found that was from a creditable site. Hopefully by spring she'll be ready to rock and roll.

That's what the motor looked today when I cracked it open. This was before I cleaned anything.

  4. If your going to take your time and build this motor then why not go with a 408. Its all about how much money you want to spend. I would decided on the motor first then choose the induction system afterwards like 1bad2k said. You'll be happy with either one. I would call Michael King (zippy) and talk to him about your goals, budget and let him help you set something up.

  5. I have been harassing him constantly! He is burned out on this thing. I am going to take him for a ride in mine this week and re-motivate him!

Its easy to get burnt out trying to make these bricks go fast. Its happened to me a couple of times.

  6. Holy smokes, looks like a tank going full blast!

How many pounds of boost you on?

This was 18-19 lbs. I want to turn it up to around 23lbs.....ish and see if I can sneak into the 10's. I could probably sneak into the 10's with a set of drag radials, because right now I just have a set of normal all weather tires and I'm not currently using limiting straps. Maybe 1 day,

  7. Okay cool so all I would have to do is buy a smaller pulley or have one made? I thought something was wrong with the supercharger itself. That's a relief.

Yep. I don't think whipple sells them anymore for that style of supercharger. Do you have the single belt or 2 belt system?

  8. Interesting. I hope I don't have to go to 18psi to get low 11's. I have had mine running for about 3 weeks. I really haven't had crap for time to get it tuned. Zippy has been helping me with the tuning. I made it down to the track with NO real tuning done and ran the truck at 3-4psi. It wouldn't build boost off the line, and it was shutting down in 3rd gear. LOL! ran a 13.5. After getting the bugs worked out, and I have to boost up to about 6-7psi it now feels about like my old setup did at 14 psi. I am hoping to see low 11's at 14-15psi. The 408 definitely pulls hard!

How are you running 18psi? E-85? Race gas? Pump and Meth? Just curious. I only have access to 90octane and I have a good supply of Meth. So that is my venue. I am hoping I can run 90 and meth up to 15 psi. Then use Race gas for anything higher than that at the track.

I run E-85. I like E-85 but the only problem now days is that the nearest E-85 station to me stop selling it, so now I have to drive 30 mins to get it which kinda sucks. I bet you can hit low 11's with 14-15 psi. If i had a set of drag radials I bet I could sneak into the 10's as my truck is. I used Zippy at the beginning to get everything set up for me, but after the first few retunes from him and watching everything he changed and then researching why he changed what he did I figured out that I could tune my truck on my own. Do you have Hydroboost on your truck? Before I put hydroboost on my truck I could never really build boost off the line. I can launch now on 8 psi but i just spin out if do that lol.

  9. Any updates on this?

I made 2 passes about a month or so ago and the Truck went 11.1 at 122. This was on about 18 psi. I think I'm going to turn it up to around 23 psi and see what happens. The motor/stock tranny and drive train run flawlessly. I've had no issues with anything really other then an oil pan leak which was my fault. I don't get to play with it much since I'm having to work so much now days. I only get to drive it maybe 1 or 2 times a month and that's just for date night with the wife. I went almost a year without it so I'm in no hurry to push it to the max and risk blowing it up. I just want to enjoy it for a bit lol. I do want to run in the 10's just once because so few of us have done it. This winter I'm going to upgrade the turbos to something nicer, but I Haven't decided which ones I'm going to go with yet.

  10. I've never had any issues with the stock ones and personally I would not spend money on aftermarket ones. If anything I would do the trunion upgrade. On the issue with you stock pushrods you really need to buy a pushrod checker. It will tell you the correct length you need. There cheap and they are easy to use.
