  1. Mike, Ive been running one for almost a yr now. Love the intake an for the price you cant beat it. The reason K&N is so expensive ur paying for the name. So flow better than others but for the money Spectre is a good call.

thanks for the info man! im gonna ask for a spectre cold air intake for christmas:yellow_loser:

  2. :dbanana: a CAI is a CAI in my opinion, the differences between any is so minimal. where ur gonna feel is in the pocket so why not save? if u want real noticeable differences get blown

edit: btw, nice truck, almost got those 330's in black and chrome myself

thats what i was thinking lol. and thanks bro im repainting it in autobody this year the new silverado black, and a whole list of things!

  3. i know this has proly been posted a thousand times, but i need to know asap please.

what are your thoughts on a spectre cold air intake for a 5.3 vortec with custom tune, long tubes, no cats and shift kit with servos?

is other high priced intakes that much better?

    Thanks, Mike

  4. hey guys im stuck between 3 different cold air intakes.

and this one came across at jegs.com

Its called a vararam king cobra ram air intake?

it brings air in from the grille and if u take ur headlight out it gets more airflow.

i need help deciding if this is worth the money or not or if it actually works.

the other two intakes are the K&N 57 series, and the volant with ram air tube.

    any help is appreciated!

  5. so my dad went to the lake with his truck... well some crazy dogs scratched up his front bumper pretty bad.. so my friend takes his truck friday mornin to school so he can start taking off the front bumper to fix it for my dad. so we decided to do a 30 roll. 3 honks boom we took off and i pulled 1.5 trucks on him... we did that 2 more times and the same result.. so afterschool i wanted to see what my truck did against it off the line. i knew i would get killed cuz im rear wheel drive and i spin like crazy off the line. we both take off and i spin for atleast a good 40-60 ft. then hook and my friend in the ss is about 2-3 trucks ahead. at about 75 i started catching him and at 95 i blew past him and keep pulling. end result was about 2 trucks when he shut off at 102 and i was still going. we did another from a dig. i didnt spin as bad and passed him really quick and just kept on pulling.. so all in all im pretty satisfied with my truck its just a reg cab 5.3 with black bear tune exaust, and hole in stock airbox. what u think i would run if i could hook at the track?

    Thanks, Mike

  6. I bought my DRs and rims from another member here, they were only used once, so I scooped them up. I know that Summit Racing sells them, and they do have them in the 6 x 5.5 bolt pattern.......just not sure of the offset.....

how do u run a different rim and tire size with ur tune? does it not mess it up? or what do u have to do?

  7. NOT TRUE, your shiftpoints will be off, and if his current tire and drag tire have a big difference in size he could bounce off of the rev limiter/fuel cutoff at the shift point.

Idealy you will want to correct the trans shift parameters to avoid this.

so ur saying that everytime i wanna run it at the dragstrip i have to get it retuned for those wheel sizes?

i got another question i might add... how will this not mess up my tune? if i run any other wheels and tires at the drag strip will it mess up the tune? or just make my spedo off?

    Thanks. Mike

  9. one thing to consider . depending on gearing and future mods . youl want a tie that will put you near 3rd gear redline .

also take note that depending on the width of the tire . you may want to have the stock rims widened up a bit (they can do this for a decent price . usually only adds width to the inside they appear to be stock.

well i have the stock 3.42 posi's and going to upgrade to 3.73's. and what u mean by ill want a tie?

  10. You are RWD, you will need at least a 17" rim. I have a set of steel Cragars that I use, they are pretty cheap, like $70 each. An inexpensive rim is fine, spend the money on a decent DR or slick....

thats what i was gonna do was get the stock 17in chevy wheels. the 5 star ones. and get mickey thompson et streets. and on those cragars were did u find em at man? i can only find the 5lug ones.

  11. cheap and drag wheels are two things that you shouldnt use in the same sentence. especially when pushing around 6,000lbs of truck.

bogart will make you anything you want, they are not ridiculously expensive, and they are LIGHT. if youre serious about dragracing, bogart is where its at. plus they hold their value very very well, and should you go with a different vehicle/axle, they can put in new bolt sections for you.

didnt litterally mean "cheap" drag wheels. im just tight on money right now. lol can u tell me how to contact bogart or get ahold of him bro?

  12. hey guys. im looking on any suggestions for some cheap 6 lug drag wheels that are light so i can use them at the dragstrip..

Went last night and couldnt hook up for noting with my 20's with nexen 275/45/20. spun all the way to the 60 foot before i could hookbanghead.gif .

any help on were to find some will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks, Mike

  13. What was the weather like? You are already tuned to shift at the sweet spot for your truck, manual shifting will gain you nothing.

it was pretty hot. id say around 90 degress. i ran it at mokan-dragway in asbury missouri. without the blackbear tune my 60ft was a 2.3061. but i start losing speed at top end. cuz my 1000ft was a 13.1472 and my 1/4 was a 15.7132

  14. A little late now but you should have had Justin tune your Tow/Haul as a race shift mode so you could have TQ management for daily driving and hit the T/H button at the track and go all out. Don't hand shift...I'm sure Justin did some tuning to your WOT shift table to give you the best times.

i did have justin tune my tow/haul for the strip. 100% TM gone.

  15. nice truck man. ive always loved that truck ever since i saw it... i live in joplin. ur truck use to set on 7th street at that shop. its not tint effex. how often u go to mo-kan? we definitly need to meet up sometime at mo-kan

  16. hey guys im mike, 17 and in autobody class at my highshool. im a senior and this will be my second year in autobody.

I am repainting my truck white. not sure on what color white yet. im also shaving my tailgate, 3rd brake light, and welding in my roll-pan. my truck is pewter now.

ill have pics up when i start on it.

    Thanks, Mike

  17. okay guys i have a 99 chevy silverado SBRC 5.3. my best time was a 15.7132 at 87.67mph, i just left it in 3rd i didnt manually shift it.

    do those numbers add up?

i now have a a pcm tune by black bear, what do u guys think it would run now? and should i leave it in 3rd or manually shift it?

    Thanks, Mike
