  1. Thanks guys. The new ones are definitely growing on me. I refuse to pay what they are bringing, but I'm planning on waiting 2 or 3 years and buy one then. My family has outgrown the extended cab, so it just sits stored most of the time. My next one will definitely be a crew cab. My old Avalanche spoiled me on interior room. I drive it occasionally on the weekends. That's about it. I'll definitely still hang around the forum. I'm not going anywhere. Honestly, I've been a member here longer than any forum I've been a part of. It's still nice to check in and see what's going on. I've learned a lot here and I'm appreciative of all the members that helped me along the way. Honestly, down the road some day, I may buy another SSS. Until then, I'll just admire everyone else's builds. I wanted to put it up for sale here first before it goes to craigslist. I hope someone here buys it.

  2. Hello all. I've made the difficult decision to sell my SSS. It is a 2003 AWD. 111K miles. Super clean and meticulously maintained.

Very clean original interior. Escalade instrument cluster bezel, with blue LED cluster upgrade. SS custom airbag in steering wheel. Pioneer AVH-8400BH in dash DVD receiver. GM Performance Division badge on dash. The rest is standard SSS interior. No issues, tears, stains, etc. Non-smoker. Dark tint.

Exterior, the paint is shiny and well maintained. I used Adams products exclusively. ARE fiberglass lockable tonneau cover. Smoked tail lights and 3rd brake light. Goodmark steel cowl induction hood. Shopman SS bowtie. Front calipers painted red. Many exterior accessories will come with it. Package will be listed below.

All synthetic fluids. Front differential was rebuilt by an expert GM Certified technician. Filled with Amsoil 75w-90. Transfer case was serviced with the blue stuff from GM. Mobil 1 75-90 in the rear. Mobil 1 motor oil was used exclusively with either Mobil 1 or K&N filters. Mobil 1 emblem and oil fill cap under the hood. K&N cold air intake. Stock exhaust with Flowmaster muffler. New water pump, thermostat, and belts. New antifreeze with RP additive. Only 93 octane fuel. Tires are decent. Super clean original wheels and center caps.

    Okay, now the extras:
3/5 DJM lowering kit new in box with Drop A arms and Belltech shocks from Tony (NorcalSS)
New air dam to mount to front bumper cover.
    Antenna delete panel.
Full billet grill kit from Carriage Works. Not the cheap EBay ones.
    Shopman billet air duct covers
Chrome C5 Emblem for the tailgate
All original parts will go with truck that I have.

I'm sure I am forgetting something. It has been a pleasure owning this truck and I hate to sell. It has been well cared for and will make someone a sweet ride. I am located in West TN. $15,500 takes it all. [email protected] is my email.

  3. I installed a Pioneer AVH-8400BH in my 03. It is not bad. The harnesses can look a little scary at first, but it is all color coordinated and comes with good instructions. Mine has steering wheel controls, so there are a few extra connections to make, but no big deal. I soldered all of my connections, so it took a little longer, but that is not necessary. It was my first install and it went perfectly. Also, you can buy a capacitor off Ebay that will eliminate the parking brake requirement so you can play DVDs while driving. Crutchfield will no sell them, but Ebay does. I suppose its a safety/liability issue for them? IDK? Good luck on your install.

  4. I'm interested in a 6.2. What is the realistic real world difference between one versus a 5.3 in a half ton crew cab? I overall average around 14.5 mpg in my awd SSS.

  5. Same here. I upgraded my radio with a 2 DIN Pioneer unit that does everything a new truck does, almost. I bought a back up camera, but never installed it. I still love my SSS. Some times I wish it wasnt so thirsty so I would not mind driving it more. I have a Trailblazer as a DD, so the SSS sits most of the time. It runs and drives as good as new, so I dont know why I'm even looking. I suppose the sticker shock is what stirred me up. I guess I'm at a different stage in life where vehicle cost is more painful than in the past. I hope I can score a NBS after they are out for a while. No hurry though. Im not on foot patrol or anything. If I wait a while, I may can get one and keep the SSS. That sounds like a much better idea anyway.

  6. I bought a couple new rides that had sticker prices of 43K, but I was living at home and not married or have any kids. Im now married with 3 kids, and I just cannot see how an average family man can afford them. I was looking at one of the blacked out Z71 models, and if I paid 12K down, the payment would be $883 a month for 60 months. If I traded in my SSS and my Trailblazer, Im sure it would still be $600+ a month. I will just have to keep my current rides and be happy. Honestly, I dont see me trading the SSS anyway. I did find an 09 Denali truck I really liked for $20K, but after looking, it had 170K miles. As much as it costs to live these days, I just dont see how people are standing these monster payments. I realize it is all in what you decide to spend your money on. To each their own, but with a house mortgage and the cost of running a household, I cant do it. And I live in a household with a combined 6 figure income. I hope this does not sound like a rant, and Im proud for folks who can, but I'm definitely off the market for now. It would be like having 2 house payments!

  7. After my wife buying a new car, I got the fever to look at the new Chevys. I love the new body style. I never warmed up to the last one, but the new ones I'd love to have. Especially the special editions. The Midnight package and the Blacked out package are very sexy. Then, I saw the prices on the new ones, and Holy Moly!!!!!!!!!!! My fever broke and I have come to my senses. 50K+ for a half ton truck? Are folks really forking that out for them???? I guess they are, but I just cant stomach it.
