  1. I dropped the spare tire and will be doing a fluid swap in the rear diff. I really want to change out the ugly stamped steel cover but am having some problems deciding on a new one. I really like some of the new finned aluminum extra capacity ones but the parking brake cable bracket is giving me heartburn with fitment and being AWD I don’t see the point in bearing support girdle covers.

Even though this is an off road jeep fanboy cover I really like the features overall with the magnetized dipstick and I think that I can make the bracket work if I shim the top bolt using an extended length bolt (the hole is recessed). What are other options that I haven’t considered?

  2. Thank you for that. The dealership is paying to get it fixed at the local Chevy dealer. I understood it to be a "lube pack" issue. On a different note, did our trucks come with factory air bags in the rear?

As I understand it the shaft was redesigned several times before they got it right. Borgeson makes a pricey one as well.

No side or second row air bags.

  3. The steering clunk is not a safety issue says GM so they didn't have to recall it. Go pick up GM part number 19153614 intermediate steering shaft and Google / YouTube installation instructions. It is super easy to install and I'm not mechanically inclined at all. Enjoy the new ride and welcome!

  4. I don't look for GM to respond with more than a pacifier concept like the 2005 Speedway Edition or the 2007 427 Silverado. They know the market is not there. The appeal is great for practically everyone on this forum but the actual buyer percent drops when they see the price tag compared to a more practical vehicle. If we are lucky they will come out with a compromise like an extended cab with fasteners for baby seats. Sound familiar?
