  1. No problem!! There's great people and great info here too
  2. we're trying to get him every horsepower he can get!!!!! :jester:
  3. i would also like to tell my buddy's experience with the owner from American Racing headers, he purchased some LT'S with 3in collectors online and ended up on the phone with the owner the next day, the owner told him he would be hurting himself by running those, that he need to run a Y-pipe to make up for the BP loss, he wanted to run duels. This is on a 07 NNBS V-max he has future plans for a blower or a 408 build.
  4. and if anybody ever reads my signature, you will notice it says i have a y pipe i just recently changed the duels to a Y-pipe for the turbo.
  5. i wouldn't see how the X-pipe would speed up velocity, but it would equal pressure. on duals the exhaust is trying to get out as fast as it can in spurts because the cylinders fire differently, with an x-pipe all that runs into one another, creating equal flow (which is why people like the sound they give) to me it makes sense that it has to slow down some. now i could see if the air was restricting right there and heating up the X making it flow more because hotter air flows faster. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, i have no experience with an X pipe, these are my thoughts and opinions I'm old school and i run the duels lol
  6. I feel this is arguing with your self. And i believe untrue that you need back pressure, how many race cars do you see that run mufflers because they feel it adds more HP/TQ. How many guys on this website alone are saying they have ET gains with running a cutout and eliminating back pressure? I have not tested to see if there is major loss in torque, enough to hurt, but if there is a loss in torque I'm betting it is below what most guys run for a converter and would not hurt us. I feel this back pressure thing is another Internet band wagon that most guys will just repeat because they heard it some where else. From what i am seeing on these ls motors they like to breath heavy on both ends. exactly right!! people with ''race cars'' are usually making good high horsepower where the LT's alone are enough back pressure, and also like you said the converter could be saving them down low. I've known people that have ripped there exhaust off and run straight headers and lose power down low. example a buddy of mine had a 350 in a s-10 he could squall the tires easy on them, he took his factory exhaust off and ran straight headers and he couldn't get the wheels to spin over. How much back pressure does a straight through 2.5 or 3" pipe create if its at 30 or 45 degree angle. I have not test this, but i just can't see and x pipe adding back pressure that would change anything. It again sounds like a Internet myth. And balancing the pressures between pipes when one pipe can be overloaded and creating more scavenging which should increase velocity(something is now sucking it out) is not a restriction and not hurting, headers or manifolds. i havent tested this, and like i said before this all such a small amount, the X pipe creates only a small amount of back pressure. straight through is better free flowing nothing is stoping it. on the X both sides end up meeting each other causing a lil back pressure. also piping size comes in effect with all this I need to know where you got this info from or what your basing it off. And i thought you said back pressure leaves HP on the table? I'm not running an x pipe with my headers, my buddy isn't running an x pipe on his ls7 427 NA motor, I'm pretty sure everyone with a corsa single pipe exhaust(which i don't like) isn't running an x pipe with headers. Do we all have exhaust that just flows to darn much.....By the way I'm still running stock exhaust because i feel it flow better(with a new muffler) then all other brands, and i hope to be upgrading(and then dyno testing) to larger 1.875 headers on a stock cubed motor and 3" dual exhaust to get rid of even more back pressure. yes, too much back pressure will. y'all have built engines taking in more air and releasing more air then a stock lq9 is, what size is your headers? i bet your leaving some on the table with the factory exhaust (your making a bunch of ponies) lol and isnt corsa a Y pipe set up? i would bet you would see better results with the bigger headers and 3 in duels, you gotta remember your moving some air!!
  7. On exhaust you want the most free flowing exhaust you can have, but yet have some back pressure. To much back pressure/restrictions leave pony's on the table. Manifolds are more restricting then long tubes, which means that manifolds have more back pressure then the long tubes would. There is a big difference between ''flow'' from factory manifolds and long tubes. It would balance the pressure with manifolds but IMO its over kill, It has enough restrictions with the manifolds. with long tubes on a factory LQ9 it would be a must to run a X pipe or Y pipe, because it would free up to much air and not have enough BP. Also tips, pipes after mufflers create BP too. Cats or no cats, Again cats restrict flow which create back pressure, no cats flow the air more. were only talking about small portions these are not drastics HP gains or losses. duels- most free flowing, loudest X-pipe- more flow then a Y pipe but less then duals, second loudest Y-pipe- the most restrictive the third loudest a good example, a buddy of mine had an 03 SS he had a tune, pacesetter LT's, 3in pipe duels out dynomax bullets and out 4in tips. extremely loud and i had my SS wich was pretty much stock at the time, and i would tear him up in a drag race every time because he had to much flow and not enough back pressure.
  8. the X pipe slows down the air and creates more back pressure then the duals will.
  9. 2.5'' or 3'' collector on the headers? and don't forget you will need a tune, lol the mods never end.
  10. It gets plenty of air flow through the grill in the bumper, I can't get the tempature past 140-145. I have this cooler in the way,
  11. you don't even need an X pipe, only way you would need an X pipe is if you had headers, keep the duals and just put mufflers of your choice. Also are you leaving the cats on? if so you defiantly want need an X pipe
  12. the lines were just hanging down in the picture, there at better angles now. i haven't had alot of driving time yet but so far no leaks and very very cool tranny temps
  13. i put 2 singles 3'' in 3'' out straight through 9in mufflers
  14. It was only like that in the picture It was only like that in the picture
  15. I'm defiantly getting my front windshield tinted looks good
  16. he makes that cobra look stoopid!!!
