  1. Goo Gone is good, any kind of citrus solvant (make sure its ok for the paint) and any bug and tar remover will take it off. IMO, I wouldn't clay bar the truck over and over just to get the sap off. Good Luck
  2. Well, if he doesn't drive the car hard enough, the rust won't come off of the rotors and they will still vibrate. I can't speak for GM, but I am pretty sure that they won't be giving your friend new rotors, and the dealership won't because they are not liable for the rotors rusting from sitting on the lot.
  3. Aero Exhaust? As in Scott Wimmer's NASCAR sponsor? I saw it on his car and wondered what they were all about...never heard of them before.
  4. Nice rides, I am from NY also and refuse to put a front plate on...no tickets yet. Did get one when driving dads new GTO, but he even refuses to put one on!! I am north of Watertown up near the border. Isn't there a GM shipping yard in Selkirk??
  5. Well, most times the brake rotors can rust from sitting on the lot and not being driven, depending on how long the car sat at the dealership and or your friends driveway is the issue. The pads do not rust and therefore do not need to be changed. Turning the rotors would be the easiest to do at the dealership because I'm not sure that GM would warranty new rotors on a brand new car with 200 miles on it. Rotors/pads are considered a wear and tear issue and are not usually covered under the factory warranty unless there is a manufactures default. The best thing to do for the pulse would be to ride the brake or stop and slam the pedal to the floor repeatedly.
  6. That engine is wicked!! Man wouldn't it be something to have that in a perfect all original '69 or Copo...WOW!! CHA CHING!!
  7. I don't see handling differences much, but there might be a little. The gas milage will be a little bit better because of just being 2WD vs AWD. The 2WD will not be as quick out of the whole because the tires might spin a little, but overall the truck should be quicker because it is a little lighter than the AWD version. Make sure its BLACK!! Teddy
  8. IMO, it is a lot thinner than the spray on done by Rhino or whoever. I had a friend do it on his truck and it was a pain in the butt to get it right. It also does not last as long as the good thick spray-on, it peels and flakes.
  9. Eagle One Leather cleaner and conditioner works really good, black bottle. I used it for the first time today and I was very impressed with the results. I need to use it more often to keep my leather fresh and moist.
  10. Thanks for all of the help guys, I am finally finished. I topped it off by using a coat of Turtle Wax Ice, what a shine, no scratches, hazes, or spider lines. The paint is flawless once again. This is my first time using Turtle Wax Ice and I must say that it is right up there in terms of shine with Zaino. Im sure that it is much less in the quality department, but I am happy. I have used Zaino a lot before but I ran out and need more!! Thanks Again Teddy
  11. I have a snapless Tonneau Masters roll up that works pretty good, might want to check that out!! Teddy
  12. Carriage Works are they best grills for Silverado SS's, IMO. Easy to bolt on. Street Scene also offers a very nice grill, but I don't like the style. Good luck. Teddy
  13. That looks great, where your tips are on the truck before the rear wheels are my favorite place, I wish someone would make a system like that, I'm not sure if Gibson makes a sport truck system for the ss, but their quality sucks. Anyways, Corsa sport tips would look much better than the Magnaflows, IMO. Overall it looks awesome though!!
  14. Definately looks different, but thats what sets yours off from everyone else's Silverado SS. The truck looks great, it would look better with two 4" Corsa tips out of the side though Teddy
  15. Yeah, I actually read up about this compound and decided not to use it. I have done one side of the truck with just the cleaner wax and the DuPont wax and the truck so far looks flawless for a black truck. The small surface swirls/spiders are gone and there is no swirling from the orbital so I am happy, and a lot less time consuming. Thanks
  16. Dear fellow SSS'ers and TBSS'ers, First of all, let me say that I posted this in this section to get the most exposure. If you moderators feel it should be moved to the appearance section that is fine also. Thanks. Ok, I have a 2004 Black Silverado SS that I originally ordered and demo'ed (family owns a dealership) and drove for about 7000 miles. After that I parked it on the lot and there it sat for a long while. My father gave me a deal too good to refuse and I bought the truck for good a few weeks ago. The paint shines very good and the truck has since been washed and claybared properly. I have also waxed the truck, but have decided to take it one step further. So, to remove all of the small surface scratches I bought a SKIL random orbital buffer tonight at WalMart for around $45. I have a nice DeWalt buffer at the dealership, but I feel I am not experienced enough to take it to my truck. So, after washing the truck and drying it off I decided to try the orbital buffer out in small areas (mirrors, door posts, etc) at first to see the results, these are my steps and this is where the help and advice are needed: 1) On a clean, dry, and cool surface I applied by hand Malco Tru-Grit Heavy Duty compound. I waited about a minute and then buffed off the compound using a soft wool/cloth pad, not applying any pressure, but rather letting the orbital do the work. 2) After wiping the access compound off by hand using a microfiber cloth I applied 3M Shine Restorer (Light Swirl and Oxidation remover w/ Carnumba) which is just a fine cleaner wax. After a minute, I removed using the wool/cloth pad, not applying any pressure and wiped the access with a microfiber cloth. 3) I then applied DuPont Teflon wax by hand waiting a few minutes this time and removed using a microfiber pad on my orbital, not applying any pressure, and wiped the access with a microfiber cloth. I repeated this step once more to an even higher gloss shine. So, before taking the orbital to the bigger areas of the truck, I need some advice and have a few questions! First, will the steps that I have followed/using an orbital buffer cause any hazing of my paint or swirls, etc...remember it is black!? I have not and do not intend to use any pressure when using the orbital. For the small amount of spider scratches and neglect, etc the steps I used made the paint look amazing!! Secondly, I am using Dupont Teflon simply for the sake of time! I plan on using either Zaino or DER Stuff in the future, but I am going to a friend's summer college party this weekend and I want my truck to be the talk of it!! LOL So any advice or small tips would be greatly appreciated! I do not consider myself a novice when it comes to detailing, so lay it on me! I know this is a long process and do not intend to get this all done in 2-3 hours, I am very paintent with my truck and want to do it myself so that I know it is done right!! Thanks guys, Teddy
  17. In my opinion, I feel that is pretty high also. Especially with the new 72 hour program that just came out, I would try to grab a new one under this program, you won't be spending much more money and you will have a brand new one!
  18. We own a chevrolet dealership, so I have looked at NADA dealers guide and KBB dealers guide and i would have to say $27500-28000 is the ballpark figure suggested retail. Those are actually high miles for an '06 so that would be about a $500-750 deduction.
  19. I called tech and the bulbs we have in our trucks are 3157's, the Spider part number is 5armswedgea. Just in case anyone else was interested in these! Teddy
  20. Rear turn signal 1157 1157LL Long Life Upgrade: Up to twice the life of the standard lamp 3157LL Tail light 1157 1157LL Long Life Upgrade: Up to twice the life of the standard lamp 3157LL Stop light 1157 1157LL Long Life Upgrade: Up to twice the life of the standard lamp 3157LL This is what I was talking about. Spider lists SEPARATE part numbers for the 1157 & 3157 bulbs, but GM lists them as together. So which bulb is actually in our trucks??
  21. Do you know which bulbs we have in our taillights, I don't have a manual handy? I don't understand which bulb from spider that I am supposed to order??
