  1. Looks great! I like the contrast of the silver grills on the black
  2. This is where I got my kit from http://www.drivetrai...tial_parts.html part number MTR8.2RIFSLMKT comes with everything you need to change all the bearings and races and also includes any necessary seals, gaskets and crush sleve.
  3. Looking great! Any info on the valve covers? I'd like to pick up a set...changes the whole look of the engine compartment if you ask me.
  4. yessir thats it. Just hope and pray that the c-clips stay in the center diff housing because they will rip the side roller bearings in the axle tube out and that means you have to rip the diff cases apart to change them. I have done 8 diffs and only 1 has had the clips stay on the axle and rip the roller bearings. But assuming that everything goes correctly, its a quick 30 min job once the diff is out of the truck to change the axle seals.
  5. once you get the alxle out of the truck, the output flanges can just be pulled out. You can either use a slide hammer and pull the output shaft out or you can use a sledge hammer and a piece of wood and hit the output shaft from the back and it will seperate from the diif housing on the inside. change the seal and install the shaft making sure to align the spines and then give it a good tap to get the output shaft in. you will hear / feel it snap into place.
  6. care to go into a litte more detail?
  7. Seems like a good idea in theory but it practice it really isnt. I have a Viper 5901 installed on my SS and one day the damn thing wouldnt crank. tried jumping it, hitting the starter and nothing. turns out it was just the starter kill built into the viper malfunctioning. Pulled the pannel under the steering wheel off and pulled the fuse for the viper and the truck started. So basically what Im trying to say is someone could pull that fuse in a minute and just hit the button and go,. no more starter kill. I would try to figure out another safety measure in there... turn the truck around in the spot, park a few spots over move to neighboring parking lot .... good for a few laughs
  8. Damn I cant believe I missed this too. See what being away from the forum for a little while does... If you have any extra hats that have not been spoken for please let me know ASAP, definately want one of these
  9. Nah not yet... but it did do a great job plowing the driveway!
  10. First time in the snow since I bought the SS... I think these pics came out pretty nice
  11. Year of truck:2004 Model:Silverado SS Trans:stock Converter: stock Gear:stock Tires:305/40/22 List of current mods: cat back exhaust, CAI, JET chip, Possible future mods: whatever is needed for a cam Goals for truck: gain some extra hp from the cam swap. Not sure exactly where the mods will stop after that... Uses of the truck: daily driver I'm finally ready to bite the bullet on a cam swap. Basically I want something with an aggressive lope that makes O.K low end power but comes really pulls arond 2500-3000 RPM. Cam gurus, please recommend me a cam and any supporting mods I need to do to make it work. torque converter, shift kit, servos, tune, etc. thanks in advance!!
  12. The magnaflow bullit that I got was a great size. Small enough to squeeze in there nicely. cherrybomb also makes some small compact race mufflers but from what I understand they can get pretty raspy up top...
  13. In for a hat and some hoddies with the SS logo or Silverado SS too!!
  14. Thanks! As far as the tips go, I did them the simplest way I knew with just a 90* bend because I didnt have a pipe bender at my disposal to make precise bends with. My logic for putting them a litter farther out was so that the hot exhaust wouldnt go directly on the back tire but now that I think about i dont know if that was really so necessary. All in all im pretty happy with the way it came out for a self- made exhaust in my driveway, with a 110 welder. Not to mention this is my first exhaust bulid.
  15. It really sounds amazing in person! The dynomax that was on there is probably going on my sister's escalade...
  16. Pics and additiional video as promised... click below for video
  17. No problem... Ill get some pics up of the bottom later today I'll take another video today and make sure to rev it a little. As far as inside goes, you hear it but not as much as my last system. The last system was a dynomax muffler running the stock exhaust routing. This new exhaust is louder outside but somehow not as loud inside? if that makes any sense. And the dynomax would make this ridiculously annoying drone at 70-75 which is where most of my highway cruising is. This new exhaust has 0 drone. And makes an amazing angry sound above 3K RPM!! Maybe the site was down?? Just checked the video right now and its working so maybe give it another try?
  18. So I woke up saturday morning and decided that the dynomax muffler in my truck was not agressive/loud enough for me anymore. So i took a trip out to the local speed shop (S&K Speed) and picked up a few pieces to fab up a new exhasut. Parts consisted of a 2.5 to 3 inch "Y" pipe, 3 inch Magnaflow bullit race muffler, 3 inch 90* pipe, 3" diameter straight pipe (6 inch length) and a set of tips that look very similar to the corsa exhaust tips. One of the welds on the "Y" pipe is leaking a little bit (you can hear it in the video) but im going to take care of that tomorrow when I have some free time. Here are some pics and a short video. Sorry for the iPhone quality... click below for video
  19. Looks good! Needs some brighter HID fogs and that last shot would be perfect.
  20. So basically after doing a bunch of reading, I ordered a tru-cool Max 40K GVWR cooler for my truck. I'm a little confused on the cold weather by-pass valve that they offer. Some people say that you absolutely NEED it if you are running the truck in cooler than 32*F weather, others say its not really necessary. I believe the specs say that the valve opens fully at 180* but my trans doesnt even get up that hot the way it is now even in the summer. So basically what I want to know is if the tranny can really be "too cold"
  21. Looks good, the different sized wheels look odd but there is something appealing about that to me. Just because its different I guess...
  22. No one on here that can help me out with this Is the picture not that good format for a sig?
