  1. so i just bought my silverado ss cladding for bed, tailgate cladding and rear bumper cover with all neccesary brackets and hardware for what i thought was a steal....now just trying to figure out exactly how they mount..if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated....or does anyone know if theres been a "how to" write up on this??
  2. welcome the club!! ****en recession!! building on a budget is the worse hahaha trust me i know haha
  3. In need of a driver side air duct how much? Has anyone heard from buffalo?
  4. $100 plus shipping for a set left and right?? are they oem?? any pics??
  5. Hey are those mirrors paint to match with turn signals? Where you located?
  6. i would just because i had my exhaust before i dropped and added sway bars to my truck and i had to cut my piping n reroute to clear rear sway bar. but if you dont plan on dropping the truck then it shouldnt really matter
  7. i have a 5/7 djm drop with lower and upper control arms and c notch, front and rear sway bars with 20in ss in front and 22's on rear. this on the fwy so not actual corners but curvy windy roads....i cant imagine not being able to do it in an awd setup. idk if my truck being a 2door not ext cab have anything to do with it
  8. thanks for the use full knowledge...i guess the way i should of asked the question is if i get a 6.0 block i could use the parts from my 4.8 to make it work? which is a definte yes...or i can get a complete engine and make it work either way.... i think i want a complete engine if i can find one at a fair price either an lq4 or lq9....which in the future i would like adding some mods like a blower or a turbo....
  9. so if everything is bolt on does that mean the heads and intake manifold from a 4.8v8 would slap right on an lq4 or lq9 granted the heads would not provide the hp gains you want to see?? can i just literally swap 4.8 block for 6.0 block and have everything bolted right up ready to roll?? excuse my ingnorance just want to make sure i understand
  10. all harness n engine sensors are plug n play??
  11. yea exactly you got the idea. i wanna swap a 6.0 into my 2door for my 4.8 v8 and im unsure of how i need to go about doing that. i figure if the lq4 and lq9 blocks are the same then i can get an lq4 an be able to build it up just like you would with an lq9
  12. YEA THATS WHAT I WANT TO DO...REGARDLESS IF I WERE TO GET AN LQ9 OR LQ4 I WOULD WANNA REBUILD IT AND MAKE IT NICE AND STOUT...BUT I FIGURE IF EVERYTHING IS THE SAME EXCEPT SOME ACCESORRIES, PISTONS ,ETC THEN I WHY WOULDNT I JUST PICK UP AN LQ4 THATS ABOUT $300 CHEAPER AND JUST BUILD IT UP??
  13. so if i was to get an LQ4 I CAN MAKE IT AN LQ9 BY SWAPPING PISTONS?? OR IS THERE MORE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THEM OTHER THAN PISTONS AND COMPRESSION RATIO? THE BLOCK AND ALL ACCESORIES ARE THE SAME RIGT? THANKS FOR THE FEED BACK
  14. CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LQ9 & LQ4 ENGINES I KNOW THE LQ9 CAME IN SS. LOOKING TO DO AN ENGINE SWAP ON MY TWO DOOR REGULAR CAB I HAVE A 4.8 WANT TO UPGRADE TO A 6.0...AT MY LOCAL SHOP THEY HAVE LQ4'S N LQ9'S AND A DIFFERENCE OF A ABOUT $200-$300 FOR THE LQ9
  15. one more question guys i have a 4.8 if i was to get a 6.0 BLOCK SINCE EVERYTHING IS BOLT ON DOES THAT INCLUDE HEADS N EVERY OTHER ACCESORIES ON THE 4.8???
  16. these sway bars kick ass!! have them installed on my 2 door n it can handle like a dream!! highlight of my day is hitting the CA 110 north heading to pasadena where its nothing but curvs & turns priceless seeing the faces on the pocket rocket drivers when they see a full size truck hitting turns at 90mph as they slow down and i speed up....this kit is n easy install maybe about 15 min or so as far as exhaust gooes...it shouldnt be a big deal even if it hits just spend a few dollars to reroute the exhaust chances are you got custom bent piping so no biggie in rerouting...definately worth picking up this sway bar
  17. I would recommend djm suspension parts i have a a 5-7 drop kit on my 06 2 dr silvy. i also installed sway bars rear and front and it handles like a mofo....but depends how low your trying to lay your truck
  18. what about sticking a manual transmission on a 2dr silvy? would the cluth hold up being that the truck is lighter than an ss
  19. is there a floor shifter that you can use instead of paddle shifters?
  20. why would you have to change out the steering wheel?? so this tranny is a 4l80e 4 speed upgraded to 6 speed im not sure if i understood correctly being that this is a 4l80e does it bolt right up to our silvy engines
  21. so is that the same six speed tranny on the escalades n denalis??? is a direct swap on to your ss?? any knnowledge you can share would be appreciated
  22. so i was looking on summit at trannys and came across something interesting. it says its and 4l80e trans but has 6 speeds has anyone installed these on there ss or know anythin about it?? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TCI-271600/
  23. can anyone tell me the difference beside that the 4l80 holds up better and which trucks were equipped with the 4l80
  24. thanks good info!! trying to upgrade my rcsb to disc brakes n posi figure might as well buy complete rear diff n save some money
  25. hey guys real quick i have a stock silverado reg cab with drum brakes and im looking to swap rear diffs....ive seen an ss rear diff complete from rotor to rotor now im wondering if i buy that rear end what is involved in the swap?? or does it literally just bolt up to my stock drive shaft any input will help
