  1. Wanting to get some tires for some minor off roading, but also just to make the appearance a bit more rugged looking. So I will need them to be functional, as I have a 2WD. (Not going to be anything intense - just some hills and rocks here and there) I probably won't really encounter a whole lot of mud - it will mostly be dry, but just to be safe, I want to leave the mud terrain tires as an option. Of the 2 below, what do you guys think I should go with? I would go with 17" rims for either option - I think they are both pretty mean looking. BF Goodrich All Terrain: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?KEYWORD=tires.jsp_BFGoodrich_All-Terrain_T%2FA_KO_Tire&CAWELAID=712089083&tireMake=BFGoodrich&GCID=C13674x012-tire&partnum=215R5ATAKORWLV2&tireModel=All-Terrain+T%2FA+KO&code=yes& or, BF Goodrich Mud Terrain: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?KEYWORD=tires.jsp_BFGoodrich_Mud-Terrain_T%2FA_KM2_Tire&CAWELAID=712108468&tireMake=BFGoodrich&GCID=C13674x012-tire&partnum=875QR6KM2RWLV2&tireModel=Mud-Terrain+T%2FA+KM2&code=yes&
  2. What kind of BF tires are those? And what kind of rims? I'm looking for a set of MUD/SNOW tires and some rims to go a long with them for my SS, and I really dig that setup. Looks bad ass.
  3. Nice. Does it have defrosters on it by chance? And is it powered?
  4. You like it? I like a lot of air flow when I drive - do you keep it open a lot? I dig how it looks.
  5. Think I found the part: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214858&chapter=&sectionids=0,2768&groupid=51894&subgroupid=3479&componentid=65104&make=6&model=Silverado%201500&year=2005&catalogid=2&displayCatalogid=0 I'd probably just go with the manual one, as it would cost a lot more to install a new button and wire the power window to the dash. $291 isn't so bad...
  6. I'm pretty sure it was an option - but not positive, got mine used also. If it was an option, that would make it a lot cheaper to custom install on mine then I bet
  7. yea that or if a middle panel slid over or something. it would be even cooler if the entire thing could slide down like in 4runners, ha ha
  8. Have any of you custom installed a 3-piece rear window on your SSS? If so, I'd love to know details some details
  9. Welcome man! From Santa Monica. I've only had one encounter racing a TBSS on the open highway and I definitely smoked him. But I think he was just a baby That was just outside of Vegas....not sure if you are reading whoever you are!
  10. Looks sick!! I gotta get something like that now.
  11. Anyone know a good place to get inexpensive stock 18" z71 rims to go with these Blizzak tires below? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Blizzak+LM-25+4X4+RFT Thinking about getting the combo of the two for some light off roading so I don't ruin the 20" stock wheels...Thanks.
  12. If they were powdercoated I'd immediately trade you for chrome stock...
  13. Dude, sounds awesome - looks like a fun event. Thanks. Got a lot going on this weekend but I'll try my best to stop by.
  14. Got it - Thanks. Worst case scenario I was thinking of was a rocky hill or terrain where there weren't any trees or support to winch off of...
  15. Additionally, what do you use as the mounting point for your hi-lift? Bumpers on the Silverado probably aren't strong enough, are they?
  16. Ya it's all antilock with front disc and rear drum
  17. Awesome. Good to know. Thanks man. Do you have any tire rec's? And rec's for the locker? Is the True Trac you have pretty solid? Doesn't the z60 come with a g80? even though that's a locking diff it's no good for this application? Thanks.
  18. HA - go grandma! Cool, all good to know. Thanks. I am pretty sure I am not going to be in enough / any wet weather at all to justify swapping the truck for an AWD...It's always dry in this desert out here.... Any rec's on basic off road tires / rims for support? Nothing fancy at all. Probably won't be using them but a few times throughout the year...
  19. Thanks - yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. It's just such a rare scenario to even see rain at the majority of the places I'd be going in California, but I just know I'm going to run into it at some point. It's just hard to justify actually trading it for a different truck - shame they stopped making it AWD. I wish it was conceivable to do a conversion...I love this thing, it's my baby! Ha Ha.
  20. Anyone here have any experience doing any light off roading with a 2WD model? Nothing too intense...just something like getting out of a muddy situation, or climbing a steep hill with loose rocks. If so, does anyone here have a second set of tires/wheels for the off roading? Only reason that I'm wondering is because I like to take camping trips to National Parks throughout the Southwest. The fire roads and dirt paths are usually never too bad, but just in the event that it rains or snows, I'm wondering how capable the 2WD truck is...I've just got the stock wheels on an '07 right now, and I feel like even trying to off road with those is a sin. Thanks.
  21. Nice! 661 is sweet. I was just up in Rosamond the other weekend shooting some guns in the mountains.
  22. What's up everyone - I own an '07 black SS on the west side in Santa Monica / Culver City area. ...if any of you stole my center caps please give them back! Ha ha...
  23. Don't have any pictures yet, but the things totally loaded. Sunroof, leather, digital climate, bose audio, 6 cd changer, ipod hookup. Pretty much every option you can get... I can easily take some pictures tomorrow if you're interested in the trade. Would you be looking to trade your '03? I'm seeing if I can get a direct trade for this guy: http://www.carmax.com/enus/view-car/default.html?AVi=0&id=7916364&D=60&ASTc=silverado%20ss&zip=90034&pD=0&pI=0&pT=400&pC=200&pB=0&No=0&Ep=homepage:homepage&Rp=R&PP=20&sV=List&Q=bb4f6bab-02de-41d2-a4e8-e3ad837f8d78
