  1. Johnny, I can not complain about what it cost me to get the rebuild. I did spend alot of time going to different shops around my area explaining the issue with the bearing needing replaced but turns out majority of the shops new less about the front diff than I did, thats when I would go find another shop. I really lucked out when I had been informed about a local owned shop that could do anything drivetrain related. I went to the shop and the owner knew about exactly what I was explaing. I guess I just had gotten lucky on this one.
  2. Well I just got my front diff rebuilt with all new bearings for 750.00. Luckly the shop I took it to recommended I go see this other shop that would do the job right. It only took them 3 hrs and I was back on the road noise free except for alittle gear whine, but I'm not to concerned about it. No more grinding ; )
  3. What is the condition of the front diff? I see you posted a 4wd trans, if this for the AWD SS or a 4wd regular silverado?
  4. I have a little whine when I let off the throttle but its not to bad yet. My front diff is doing a groan sound as soon as I apply throttle. I found this issue to be pretty common and usually a carrier bearing on the drivers side. I checked mine by just feeling for slop at the point where the cv joint connects to the diff. Mine has alot of play up down and side to side.
  5. First off let me say hello to everyone here on the forum. I am a new owner to the SS and unfortenatley I have the front Diff carrier bearing hum when applying any throttle. I am looking for any suggestions you might have as to where to get it fixed based off of your personal experience with a shop from here. I thought about taking this task on myself but would still have to take it in to get my gear mesh set correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
