  1. So my trans just suddenly started acting up. At first I noticed it attempt to shift down while going 70% throttle up a high and quickly free rev to the limiter. A little uneasy, I try a few different things and note the following: When manually shifting 1 - 2 at light load <30% throttle, rpms hold at 1st gear range for at least 1 second, then shifts to 2nd. 2 - 3, same scenario, engines free revs until I back out of the throttle, then shifts to 3rd. 3 - 4, same scenario, hard, solid shift into gear. Next scenario, get truck into 3rd, apply progressively more throttle, from 30% up to 80%, at around 4500rpm, trans lets go of 3rd or tries to downshift into 2nd and freely revs engine, immediate back out of throttle. Hoping its something simply like solenoids, truck still pulls well in 1st but haven't tried WOT since it began acting up. Might be looking for a new 4L80E
  2. I love the fact that it's a manual! Cloth and front bumper ruin the truck though.

    COPO Camaro

Interesting response. You know the COPO's have no VIN, cannot be registered and are not street legal right? Z06 is a street car, COPO is strictly track only. Seems like an odd comparision.
  4. In all likelyhood, that Camaro you mentioned would hand it to that 440 Challenger. Either way good run. I have a similar story with a 340 Cuda vs my 99 Camaro SS when it was stock. We did one highway pull and he took off and I never saw the car again. Too bad too, cause I like to know the history of the cars/trucks I race, the build, etc. Good kill!
  5. Vertical videos FTL! Truck sounds great though!
  6. Tough to say I jumped in on this thread when I clearly posted in it before you.... I'm not sure what you call that, but anyone else posting here has read as saying, "my truck is better than my old SS."" Lastly, my posts have nothing to do with my truck in this thread, only the OPs. Not trying to jump down your throat either, since you have been around here this site much longer than I have....just saying, you certainly strirred the pot making your original post and now are trying to justify it somehow. Almost all forums are open forums - I just find your first post in this thread to be the typical Mustang owner on an LS1 site, or Viper owner on a Vette site, or F150 owner on an SSS - makes sense that it appears as your TROLLing with that post.
  7. Calling SSS's poorly built and falling apart on an SSS forum is bad taste and poor judgement. Follow your friends all you want, but this isn't the place to bash SSS's and praise the Oval - good luck trying to convince any current owners and members here of that.
  8. I wouldn't pay 35K for that car. If I wanted a C6 corvette, I would buy one (almost did before I found the Grand Sport). A Chevelle should be a Chevelle, not a Corvette with a Chevelle body. A total waste IMO.
  9. My thoughts exactly. Truck will look great with some shiny wheels. And we all know the only reason Harley guys bought the Fords is because they say Harley all over them. There is a reason Ford isn't allowed to make Harley Davidson Super Duty's anymore - Harley cancelled that part of the contract due to poor diesel reliability from Ford....just saying.
  10. Gorgeous Camaro. Sounds like you have a really impressive stable
  11. A little too far for me, have fun guys. Hoping to at least meet up with some you in Edmonton this summer.
  12. Does anyone know what size the opening is on the brake ducts for our SSS's? At work and doing some shopping/planning and wondering how wide the opening is. Thanks in advance!
  13. I wish mine was Admiral Blue
  14. Nice to find a Corvette guy that's willing to run and have some fun! What kind of boost did the 3.0 pulley add?
  15. Not a racist in any way, but the guys taking the videos show the demographic who "appreciates" these rims. I can't imagine how rough the ride must be in those trucks. Also, in that last video, the rear drum brakes look great painted red on that "SS Intimidator!" Please note my sarcasm... Lol, at 5+ K in rims and drum brakes!
  16. 167000 kms just rolled over on the weekend = 103 7xx miles. I have put on 1500 kms on it since I bought it in April
  17. I was thinking the same thing after. I'm sure he was trying to "show off" to his passenger, until the big black SSS blew by him. Add to that the passenger side exit Corsa exhaust from the 408 w/o Cats at WOT - can only imagine how loud that must have been... Thanks! It was fun just to do the highway pull with my friend, glad the Camaro was around to give him an impression of just how quick the truck is.
  18. Alright, let's start by saying that I knew this wouldn't be a real race or contest, but anyway... Leading up to the highway run in Mexico.... I am at a gas station with a buddy and notice a very clean 95 or 96 Camaro Z28 at the pumps. Notice an older gentleman filling up the car as I walk inside. At the counter I see him paying for gas at which point I compliment him on his Camaro and ask him if he has had it since new. Me: Very nice, clean Camaro you have! Did you purchase it new? Him: No, I bought it last year, it's a US car. Me: Well it looks to be in great shape, nice Corvette wheels as well (they are the '98 chrome vette wheels I hate, but I'm not one to knock on a guy's car). What year is it? Him: I think it's an '87 or '88. Me: (Bewildered look on my face) I'm pretty sure that's a '95 or '96 Camaro with an LT1. Auto or Manual? Him: Oh I have no idea what year it is, and it's an auto. End conversation - didn't want to go any further if you own a Camaro but don't know the difference between an '87 IROC and a '96 Z28. He leaves the store and I load up in the truck with my buddy. We cruise through town on our way to the nearest 4 lane highway. Sure enough, the Z28 is in front of us about 600 feet or so and turns in the same direction we are headed. I remark to my friend, "bet he get's on it to show his passenger what his Camaro can do." Being my buddies first ride in my truck, I was going to do the same. The highway roll. Old man Z28 turns onto highway some 500 feet before I get a chance to make my right turn on the highway. I notice him accelerate fairly quickly, but not WOT at this point. I turn on the highway and do the same and get the SSS in second gear. At this point he notices me behind him (not gaining at this point) and goes WOT and stays in it. I'm about 6+ cars back at this point and go WOT as well at around 40mph. We close the gap by 80 and pass the Z28 and stay in it until 115 with about 4 or 5 cars on the Z28 by now. Slow down to 75 and set the cruise. Old man Z28 settles in behind me, but won't come up beside. Was a fun run, but I knew the outcome. My buddy was very surprised, lol. Sorry for the puppy kick, but it's hard to get a clean run around here. And I knew the older gentleman wouldn't know proper highway roll race etiquette anyway. Besides, he had a major advantage in this one, just didn't expect the outcome I'm sure. Cliff notes: 408 MP122 SSS takes down 96 Z28 A4 stock.
  19. Not trying to get political, but Capitalism is the driving force that keeps "cheap or free" energy off the market. Think of how many major corporations (that have major political connections) would go bankrupt in a short time without dependence on oil, coal, etc to power our cars, heat and cool our homes...you get the point. The transformation from petroluem power to anything else is going to take more than just scientific proof and research. I could venture to guess at what those circumstances are, but I will leave that to your own imagination (let's just say, my prediction isn't very pretty, or in the near future).
  20. I noticed the empty seats as well. I will never understand this. You pay full price to go to a game 7 SCH playoff game and leave early?? For what?? You didn't plan on being there until it was over?? It's game 7!! Sucks to be them, /rant.
  21. No worries Sad news about your Z28, it was a ride in a 96 Z28 M6 that got me into 4th gens. Camaros and Firebirds are side by side, but the TA's only came out in 1969 which is why the 2 year difference
  22. No offense, but a 30th TA is a 1999 car. No LT1's were put in any vehicle post '97. If you were thinking 25th TA, 1994, then I agree. I have been around 4th gens for 15 years as well, owned my own since Aug. 2000 (see signature), and am quite familiar with modding results LT vs LS wise.
