  1. First you have to find out what code it is, someone with a scanner that can pull airbag codes can at least get you started on the right direction... An auto zone scanner probably cannot read it though

  2. I was planning on putting bi-xenon projectors in there. the morimoto from the retrofit source , so the high beam performance isn't really that important to me. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

oh you were going to do Bi-Xenon ones. Nice.

If you do that they I say switch away. Would you just put bulbs in the highs to plug the hole?

pretty much ... but I would hook them up so that they would be functional

  3. I think retrofitting is a pretty cool idea and I have been thinking about doing it in my truck.

There are a couple issues with your plan.

#1 9006's (Lows) and 9005's (Highs) have a different design on the bulb. If you look at them next to each other you will notice the difference. They have different tabs on them to lock into the housing. So if you were to put Highs in the low spot you would have to replace the back part of the housing where the bulbs lock into place. It does look like the locking mechanism for the bulbs is a simple metal plate that can be unscrewed and attached to lows very easy. But you still have other problems.

#2 The housing for the high beams is designed to project the light down the road so you can see farther. If you put the high bulbs in you low spot your light will scatter, it wont project down the road, and your highs will basically become worthless. They will basically just be bright low beams.

I would say go ahead and install the projectors, but in the low spot. Like I said I have been thinking about doing this in my truck. The projectors are so nice to have because they focus the light, and you wont have as many people flashing you.

Those Aftermarket ones on Ebay don't work very well and like to melt, plus they stick out of the headlight housing and look ugly.

Here is a nice writeup I have been reading about retrofiling

  4. I would be putting projectors in the current high beam positions, for the low beams and what is in the low beam position, I would make into the high beans. Seeing as the highs do not have the shield, I THINK it would work... Maybe I'm just not explaining it good enough.

  5. Had a friend that wanted to see how black rims looked on his truck, but didn't want to spend the money only to find put it looks like crap, he plasti-dipped them and liked how they looked... Looked pretty nice, so he kept them that way and you can only tell that they are not painted or

Powder coated if you look closely... I like the stuff.

  6. I'm not sure if this belongs in General, please move if it doesn't.

I'm thinking of doing a retrofit on my SS, had HID"s in my camaro and am used to them now  instead of cutting the big hole in where the low side goes because of room, I was thinking of swapping the high and low positions and putting the projector for the lows in the position closest to the grill, taking off the low beam shield and using it for the High beams... is this possible? or has it been done before?
