  1. All 3 versions were deemed "offensive"

    HAUL SS

    HAULN SS

    I HAUL SS

Buncha BS. What really bugs me is that just because its implied = offensive? Its not like i tried to get "haul ass" literally put on a license plate. I thought it was a great play on words.

Yet me wifes plates SEXY 666 were no problem.

Gotta come up with something else. She thinks SS MAN (ass man) might sneak through. I never go for anything that says outright I'm faster than X because i dont like eating crow.

  2. I have a very good friend who has the HP Tuner Pro cable (for his Z06) and has a bunch of extra credits on it. He said he'd gladly upload a tune on my truck if i can find one. He recommended posting over on the HP Tuners forum but i though I'd ask around here first. Its a stock '03 with the cold air intake, thats it. Just looking for something to "wake it up".

    Thanks

  3. If you are a willing to do some splicing..... you can buy a stereo 3.5mm male/male wire and cut one end off. The wires for the L/R channel will be spliced in where the xm wires are on the back of the factory head unit. Then you can toggle through the source ( fm1,fm2,am, xm or now aux). I can give you more details if your interested. I have done 4 trucks this way and sound is as clear as can be.

I would love to know how to do this! I'm all ears!

  4. Now i've got a problem. I added the 2 grounds but not the power because i'm going to put a breaker in that line. My truck is worse than before now.

I bought the kolussus cable, the gold plated connectors, i even soldered the connections instead of the crimping. I wire wheeled the frame connection below the battery and it had two existing connections there already (one directly from the battery) now there is 3. Clean metal, clean ring connectors, and bolt securely.

Now the second bolt that is circled in the how to picture, my ground doesnt connect to that one. It actually connects to another bolt below that one. I couldnt even see it but i followed the ground wire from the battery with my fingers. I'm 99% sure there was another much smaller wire grounded at this place as well. Again, this is where is attached my new cable. Same soldered connectors, total of 3 wires secured well at this point.

I clean up, start the truck and right away i knew something was wrong. When i usually start my truck in the morning and the headlights are on and i turn on the two defrosters, its dips the rpms as low as 250 and the lights get dim. Well tonight when i started the truck and turned on the defrosters and the fan on high, it killed the engine. start it again, shut off all electrical, let the truck warm up (steady 500 rpm) and then i check the battery, 14.34 steady (used a meter). Soon as i turn on any kind of draw, same crap. I had to move the truck cause i was in the center of the driveway...it died twice.

Did i miss some small wire? Should i not have attached my new ground to the same bolt on the engine and instead used the one circled on the picture? Is it doing this because i dont have the new power wire on? Its 1am right now and I'm done for the night but tomorrow i'm going to disconnect my two grounds at the battery and see if that makes any difference. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated

  5. Ok, question. I'm going to put a breaker in between the alt and the batt (same idea as the the fusible link wire from the alt to the red battery box). Right now i have the stock 105 amp alt but in the next few months i'd like to move up to the 145. I see the circuit breakers at 100, 140, 180, etc. How much over the alternator output should a fuse/breaker be?

  6. If you have the bose 6-disc they your Stereo is XM ready, it just does not have XM. This would work the best for you, its a simple plug an play and you can controll the Ipod through the stereo:

There are also this one: this one is Ipod only the other one will work with an Aux imput as well

    Thank you!

By the way, if my 6-disc is xm ready, what am i missing to make it operational? I've seen on ebay some sort of rectangular metal xm "receiver box" that would seem to go behind the dash somewhere. That and maybe the xm antenna?

    thanks

  7. Title was a Beasties reference..

Anyway, when i bought my truck one of the worst things about it was the headlights were crappy. One of the tabs was broken on an upper light so it always shook as I drove, I could see the headlight rattling. One of the lower light fixtures has lots of water and moisture, even some rust looking spots in there. So i've been looking at all the options on ebay. I really liked the crystal clear set and i noticed there were some auctions that also included some extra straight or L shaped led bars (they seemed like between 6-8 inches long) and i though about how they would look inside the brake duct. Something to give it bit of a modern look (heck it seems like most high end cars have them now and i'd like the truck to look more modern too) . Then i stumbled on these, and damn, i think they look great!

This last one is a video.
A side note to anyone considering these. I wish i could say they fit perfectly and i put them in in 10 min, but i'd be lying. The biggest problem was the fact that on the lower lights, the inner tab is too short. After you hook it on, you actually have to shift the light to the outside edge of the truck to get that part to snap in, and when you shift it that far...the damn inner tab falls out. Very frustrating. But I made something work. I didnt want to drill through the new plastic because come on, its made in china, damn thing might shatter then i'd be screwed. So I extended it a bit with a small piece of aluminum angle and a pan head screw and some gorilla glue. See the pictures.

The screw is just pinching it until the glue sets up.
There might have been some easier way but this is what i cam up with.
Here's the link to the auction. I paid like $130 shipped. But right now I can only find them listed in the Crystal Smoked instead of just Crystal. If you're interested maybe just contact the seller I bought mine from.
  8. While i was washing the cars this weekend i noticed the wiper arms on my wifes 07 cadillac srx folded straight up and stayed out of the way while i was cleaning the windshield. Got me to wondering if they would fit my truck for the same purpose. Anyone swapped their wiper arms out for a pair that fold out of the way? Makes me wonder if the 06 Escalade wiper arms would interchange with my truck.
