Well damn that sucks lol
Guess it depends on what your expecting out of them and what you use your truck for.
-
I am searching too.
Looks like you have a GM 9.5" 14 bolt.
-
Thanks man!
I am keeping it a sleeper that is a dependable daily driver and can still tow a 6k trailer. Have already gotten flamed by friends for such a small cam lol I just laugh and say its all good my other truck has a 270/278 .70x/.70x 110+4
-
You wondering if they should be upgraded? I also am curious.
Maybe its just me but I haven't found a 4.30 ring and pinion for the 14 bolt.

Have a few new parts on the way for the daily...
Pacesetter 1 3/4" Longtubes
2.5" Magnaflows 4x9x18 with 3" H-Pipe
Flowmaster Ball Flanges
Flex Pipe
Mandel Bends needed...
The exhaust will be 3" from the collectors to the H-Pipe. Then it will
use the factory 2.75" piping to the 2.5" Magnaflows. Always wanted to do
this!
To be installed..
EPS 215/222 .603/.596 @ 1.7 rr 115+3
PAC 1518 Springs
Trick Flow Chromoly 7.425 Pushrods
Spectra Intake
What I already have...
Wheatley Custom Tune
Street Edge 2600
Jakes Stage 3 4L60e
Tru-Cool Max 40k
Motive 4.30 gears
Detroit Truetrac
I told myself when I bought this truck it would stay stock... you can see I still have a problem with modding. Heck at least I am keeping it mild lol

Only a few but looking like my truck may be cam only for a while. In the process of buying a house and not sure when Ill have the extra coin to drop on the truck.
Jay, ETMC is owned by a friend of mine and though Ive never had any work done by their shop they do have a very good rep from most people. They have built some very nice and respectable cars and trucks and its a smaller shop (only 2-3 employees) so they tend to pay attention to detail a bit better. I have heard his tuning is a bit on the slacking side sometimes but thats just all word of mouth info from other people. Ill be back in Longview this weekend, might bring the SS, but probably be in the DMAX.
I had head the same about there tuning. Have been looking for someone to tune my drag truck but really havn't come across anyone close that I would trust... my daily is Wheately tuned.
I met ya at Dallas Raceway in June of 11 I was in the red QC Ram, which was a slow pig at the time lol
There's an offroad place in town that's supposed to do a good job and not break the bank. Some places charge over 1,000 per axle and that's just ridiculous to me. I only have one axle of course but still lol. Has anybody used motive gears?
Yes that is what I have in my VHO, they are silent.
-
Zach does anybody here know about your new setup? If so I might have to ask around since you're so secretive!! And I'm going with 4.30s I just need to find somebody to install them around here. Where are you from?^
Good choice! I have used Ryan's Transmission in Quinlan, did very well at setting up the gears on my Ram. They were silent when most say aftermarket 4.56's will always make noise on a Ram. Close localy I really don't know, I imagine East Texas Muscle Cars sets up differentials. Then again I don't know how good they are...
I live in Mount Pleasant. Spent alot of time in Longview when I went to college at LeTourneau and go there weekly to visit my brother.
-
I run 4.30's in my daily and am very happy with them. If I was going all out for the strip I would have gone with 4.56's to cross the traps @ the optimal RPM for my N/A setup. If it was purely for a daily with no racing and towing only I would have stuck with 4.10's.
Since I tow and race the happy meduim seemed to be 4.30's.
It is also nice to see some people on here from my neck of the woods!

Here is the output shaft from my trans... I bet it will buff right out!
-
If its the shaft, sounds like your getting the shaft...
-
Ahhh hell that really sucks man. :/
-
Looks like I'm going to have the tuner do the same. Maybe put my regular driving down to where it should and keep the haul ass button but tone it down a tad also. Been a year and I dog it everyday since the new trans got in. Hell I dogged it before that. Bout time for a 7 yr old shaft to go. Just wish I coulda had the option to replace then and not now. Mine is being done through the valve body, my tune is actually rather conservative. I do think the billet servos also had a part in the harsh shifts when combined with a radically modded valve body.
I am rough on mine also, donuts, burnouts, drifting, and WOT majority of the time when no one is around. Doubt I will ever grow up...
You have a warrenty on it?
-
I would think that when doing 2500$ worth of work he would have asked if I wanted to get a new 100$ shaft while it was all taken apart. The only part that he didn't replace other than the case... Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
I agree, my trans was $1700 and he said he didn't mention replacing that part because usually its not a issue. Guess we proved them wrong on that lol
that may be the root of your issues..harsh/violent shifts may/can/will break stock hard parts. IMO
Bingo! As fun as the crazy shift were I had him dial them back some even with the added billet internals. Not going through this again!
-
For what its worth. I have my tune slamming gears. I also love to WOT first to second. I'm not putting any power other than stock really through it is what is bothering me. I was just about to spend the 2k on rims and tires. Now I'm thinking my truck might be to old and run down. LOL not sure if I want to put any more money in this. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Don't let it bother you, my 04 VHO snapped a output shaft recently. Mods only being a Street Edge 2600, Jakes Stage 1 4L60e, 4.30 Motive Gears, Detroit Truetrac, and a Wheatly tune.
My truck has a seriously harsh 1/2 shift, enough to kick the truck sideways if your taking even the slightest bend in the road and leaves black strips on the road. But still had a dencent amount of TQ managment turned on. All it took was a crazy sticky track which had me dead hooking even with my tires @ 40 psi, hit 1/2 then heard a loud pop! That was all she wrote...
I thought that same thing as you, WTH? My truck is not putting down that much power. Harsh shifts and a heavy pig of a truck, you found the weakest link...
Having mine rebuilt as a Stage 3. Even shocked Jake that my truck snapped the outputshaft a my dailys power level.

Welcome back, I have to admit I was so close to buying a Srt-10 Ram Nite Runner in 2006. Then the salesmen boasted on how cops pulled them over when they went to fill up on gas just to look at the truck and I literally walked away due to that comment.
Thanks man!
I have owned two Rams and did enjoy them. Just was not the greatest platform when your really wanting to go fast....

Here are a few more pics, finally making some progress...

Here are a few more pics...

Tried posting the pics but it wouldn't let me without rehosting them.

^Awesome^
Another bowler!
-
To much to list.
-
Got any pics of your install?
There are install pics in that second link I posted, my truck is 3 hours from me right now getting some upgrades to the trans.
-
Hell, I would take not having 93 to have a station with 100 octane.
-
Shell here. My engine builder insisted that I only use Shell 93. Not feeding my babies cheap fuel. Will take my daily to Exxon and Valaro.

Tru-Cool Max 40k
Here is the kit to make it a dirrect bolt on swap:
Have a few more mods coming for the daily...

It has been really fun building this truck to be a quick daily/tow/sleeper truck. Sure is wierd building something that is not max effort, my brain keeps telling me go big or go home. Have really done well keeping the project where I feel it would serve its purpose best.
I will take some for sure. But keep on the look out for the videos of my other truck, that one will be more interesting.
Thanks, I guess you could say so. Its more me just getting bored as my other truck is being built.
Thanks!
I like both and have ran both depending on what I was expecting from the system. Main reason for going for one on this system is the limited space and keeping the needed mandrel bends to a minimum.
