  1. So I stopped this morning and took a quick peak at the SS for sale in town. From this diagram what I need seems to be #6 and #15. (left and right side). Can anyone provide the GM numbers. The site doesn't provide it (or at least I can't find them on it) It seems extremely high to pay almost $350 just for a few brackets. Found a entire bumper assembly for $350 at a local junkyard. So might have bought a bumper cover for nothing. Oh well, lesson learned. Time to do research before buying.

  2. So ordered and received my silverado ss bumper. Was unforentally surprised to find out that i'm clearly missing some brackets but don't now for sure which ones I need. I'v attached some pictures of the brackets that are there, any help especially some pictures of what I should have would be great.

  3. Lesson #1 about this truck learned. Don't assume anything. Order new bumper cover for the truck. Of course it wouldn't have any of the factory brackets. Wasn't a fan of the bumper that was on it, but I will give it credit was at least built fairly well.

  4. It's very clear that my truck's shocks need to be replaced. Anyone have any luck with one brand over another? Typically I've used KYB in the past with good results. I'm just looking to get a factory ride. Not looking for anything to harsh.

  5. @ Motorman1968 and Skymynx ...

Check out the Events Gatheing Section ... We are having a Silveradoss.com Day at the Drags in early October. We are meeting at Lebanon Valley Dragway, Lebanon Springs NY. It's close to CT ... So come join the fun ..

I will at least keep it in mind. Might not be ready for that, as I'm still waiting for some other projects to sell, before I go to crazy with the SS. Been up there before, sucks that it's one of the closest drags, yet still 3+ hours away for me.

  6. Read, Read, Read, and Read... Just when you thought you have read enough, Read some more.... Start with researching the hptforums and then by some books like Engine Management Advanced Tuning by Greg Banish... There is also tunning school books and lots of other sources... Just read until your eyes bleed and then only then I would recommend you start removing engine TQ managment and Transmission TQ management and adjusting spark advance and VE tables and MAF tables ETC...................... GM is notrious for putting a ton of TQ management on the vehicles, Just by eliminating some of that will wake up the truck but could hurt the drivetrain if stock...

This is the best advice. I had HPT for my cobalt SS years ago. I can't tell you the amount of hours spent reading. I was also lucky enough to attend a seminar on tuning put on by Diablosport. Wasn't exactly the same but helped none the less. Be patient when getting to the fine tuning.

  7. Good luck bringing it back you ever need to look at one that's all stock to figure out what's correct and what is not I live right in danielson, let me know

Thanks for the heads up. Right now I've been stopping and looking at one in my town that's for sale. I liked it, but I thought it was over priced (bone stock 130k for 13k). Had a lot of scratches on it.

  8. Is the silverado SS bed any different then the normal beds besides the cladding. I'm gonna start shopping around this next week for the paint quotes. Just not sure if the old bed is worth saving vs buying a replacement one. The tops of the current one has so many dents and dings.

  9. Is the bed level with the cab because in the pictures it looked as if the front of the bed on the passenger side was sticking up higher than the back of the cab or is it just missing the cladding back there. Either way good luck with the truck. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2

It's level. Doesn't have the cladding on due to some dents. Luckily the truck came with the cladding, and the factory bumper brake ducts.

Anyone know of any good places to buy a factory grill. I've found a couple on ebay, but didn't know if there were any good 'local' vendors to the forums I should look at.

  10. Body wise I'm fine with just going back to bone stock. I like the way it looks that way. My only thing might be some billet grills down the lines. I don't mind the hood, but god I can't help but think of all the jokes because of the flames (hell I'm even made some already). The guy I bought it from agreed it was a shame how the truck ended up.

Additional things wrong that I wasn't expecting:

    • Smoker truck (although no stains or burns anywhere at least)
    • AC doesn't work (think it might be the actuator)
    • Needs a battery
    • Driver's side door panel is basically falling apart
    • Scratches and flaked off paint everywhere
    • HVAC system has something loose (shakes one you turn it all the way up)

Luckily I was able to drive it alone. Floored it a couple of times and just drove around for about 20 minutes. Rode fairly smooth. Could prolly use a brake job at some point (very minor vibration) but since it's just a fun home depot truck not on the top of my list.

  11. Yeah we were all going back and forth on whether it was a real SS or not and how bad the prior owner whipped that truck. I am not knocking your truck as a matter of fact purchasing the truck did cross my mind. Good luck with her.Hey for sh_ts and giggles sake would you mind posting up a list of things that are faulty with it besides what we saw in the add. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2

Sure will do in the other thread.

  12. Please put the stock grill and bumper back on that's killing our reputation

Couldn't agree more lol. Was not a fan of the condition that the former owner left it in.

You bought it off ebay correct? This is the one everyone was saying wasn't a real SS. The VIN does have the "N," though which I believe designated for the SS.

Bought it semi locally (2 hour drive). I did find it on ebay. The first thing I did when looking at it was make sure the truck was a real SS. VIN decoded matched up correctly to be one, and the motor and trans matched up correctly. Was able to find some info on here ahead of time to know what to look for.

    Thanks for all the welcomes.

  13. Welcome do you have any pics

I've figured out how to upload pictures. Edited original post.

Where in Ct are you from? Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2

    Next to UConn

    Welcome

Sound like it will be a fun project. It think it would be pretty sweet to paint it another color

Yea it's a functioning project. Should be fun to play around with.
