  1. Absolutely huge fan of your truck. I follow you on IG also. You're definitely one of the people that keep me motivated to better my truck!
  2. I've used RP's motor oil before and thought about theur gear oil but lately i havent heard good things about them. Kind of been scaring ne actually. Haha, I've heard good things about amsoil just haven't really messed with any amsoil products before, but I'll probably be making the switch. Thanks guys!
  3. Hey everybody, was going to change out my diff fluids for the sake of maintenance this weekend and was wondering what you guys run and why? I've done some searching and the answers I'm seeing are "I use this because that other stuff sucks." Well... why does it suck? Do you have any tests to prove said statement? I've just seen so many different opinions on the internet without any proof/tests that it throws me off a bit so I figured I'd ask my SS family what they have to say. As I stated before I'd like some proof behind the statements instead of "Well one time when I put this in, my diff messed up, so it HAD to be the fluid. I mean I was dogging the hell out of the truck, but it just HAD to be that crappy brands fault." Again, just looking for some guidance since I don't know a ton about fluids in general and I'd like to be able to change my fluids knowing I made the best choice I could. Thanks in advance guys!
  4. How did you go about fixing this? Buy a new head or get a new valve and resurfaced and while they were off maybe re-honed the cylinder walls with new rings? I'm asking from pure curiosity because I've never worked with heads before but I've heard taking your heads in for a valve job could be expensive.
  5. Hey guys, still in need of the mainshaft (part 43). Messages from here go straight to my phone so I'll be able to respond asap! Thanks guys!
  6. Welcome and that thing is in AMAZING shape. Previous owner definitely took care of it.
  7. Thanks man. I still haven't forgotten about you! Just waiting on a shaft to pop up. I think I found a guy that has a shaft just waiting on him to get back with me. This guy that works on a dealership said that from the dealership the shaft is like 250. Figured it'd be pricey also.
  8. Sent him a message. I'll let you know what I get back! Said he has 45, but no source for 43. I told him I was getting the part from you though so still on the search for 43. I'll try posting around on other general forums and stuff. As soon as anything comes up I'll let you know! By the way, I've never actually removed part 45. How hard is it? Is it "pressed" together with the case?
  9. Hmm I'll have to think a day or so on it. I'm gonna' have to see how much a main shaft will run me also. Lol, any idea where I can even go about finding one? Once I find one I'll throw my offer your way. The truck is immobile until I get them both anyways because there is no way I'm putting all that back together only to be torn apart days later. Haha, good thing I have my gas saver.
  10. Awesome! Is it in good condition and everything? If so I'll buy it from you. How much would you want for it?
  11. As the topic states, I'm in need of the part 43 mainshaft and 45. I was having a drive to reverse clunk and for the life of me couldn't figure it out. I pulled the t-case and discovered the splines on both were really worn down and smooth which is what I was looking for. I looked on ebay but could only find a NP149 mainshaft. I thought they were essentually the same but this seems to be an area where they differ. The shaft looks nothing like mine really. I'll put a link. Thanks in advance guys! 12. Yeah, went to extract the broken bolt and the extractor also broke off. Had to go use a dremel with a carbide bit and work the extractor out and start all over. Took a couple hours, but I very much so learned my lesson about working on anything while that tired again. Haha, thanks guys. New bolts worked flawlessly by the way. Actually feel sturdier than the stock bolts. Continued on to change my knock sensors and no more CEL! Mission complete! Yay!
  13. Yeah, an obvious sign that I would have picked up on fully awake. My eyes obviously traveled upward or something accross the picture of all the torque specs. Ha!Wasn't thinking too much considering I was out so late trying to finish up. I was dog tired. Last time I attempt that. Went to a hardware store and bought four new ones with washers to match as close as possible. They had a little "Match-a-Thread" thing there so it was easy to make sure the threads matched up since I took another bolt with me.
  14. Hey, was replacing my knock sensors and when I went to re-tighten the fuel rail bolts, the service manual said 37ft pounds but that was obviously way to much as I snapped one of the bolts. Anyways, I'm obviously in need of replacements but can't seem to find them online. Any help? Thanks in advance!
  15. Thanks guys, I've sent him a message!
  16. Hey guys, I'm looking to lower my 2003 AWD SS with a 3/4" drop. I have never purchased suspension kits so I really am not sure on what brands are reputable and what are not. Also, I'm not sure of the "go-to" online store for lowering kits. I have searched around a bit, but was just going to see if anyone knew of some good deals or tips before buying before I started spending money. Thanks in advance!
  17. over 200,000, but it wasn't this bad when I got it. Guy I bought it from was an honest guy too. Even paid for a brand new CAT whenever one went out like a day after I got it. Could of left me high and dry, but didn't. Any who, today I plan to take out the front drive shaft and just sit there and shift to see if the noise is still there. If it isn't, I can more accurately pin point the problem. I still believe my front diff may just be having too much slack in it. If I have to rebuild it, then so be it. I am going to fix this problem. Been tracking it down for too long not to. Lol
  18. Here's a video. Yes, truck is on jackstands. From park to reverse, it doesn't seem to do it, but from drive to reverse, I get it every time. Throughout the video I show you how much "play" my wheels, driveshaft and front diff have, then I crank up the truck for the noise I hear and am talking about. Edit: May help to have a video link. Lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtU5QAqvjq0&feature=youtu.be

Any track times on it? Heard they're actually pretty quick for what they are.
  20. From my knowledge, no. It's had multiple owners though. I'm no trans expert, but just from how it shifts and acts, I'd still say no. Shifts are as smooth as can possibly be.
  21. I understand a clunk is normal, but it almost makes me cringe every time it does it. This clunk isn't the normal clunk. It sounds more harsh. Again, I'll video when I can, I was suppose to yesterday, but I got all tied up. Sorry about that.
  22. I'm honestly starting to wonder if it's being cause by my front diff. having a good amount of play. Because that's the side of the transfer case the noise seems to be made from (where the front drive shaft connects) I'm wondering if the play of the front diff allows the shaft to have a bit more momentum than it's suppose to when it shifts into reverse causing the noise to be a bit louder than normal. Then again I could be talking crazy.
  23. They're fine. I checked them and had a mechanic check them when I got an alignment check a little under a month ago. But to answer, no I haven't replaced them.
