  1. I just got back from my business trip and I got some video of the truck up on the dyno. I sent them to Ryan.

I'll be picking her up tomorrow........She might go up on the dyno once again, if so I'll get some more video and some sound clips. From what I was told, she sounds like a funny car......

I'm from Ft Wayne, and this would be worth the drive.  Then I could atleat make a nice Chitown weekend out of it.

If you’re in the area and I can get away from the wife and kids for a few hours, we can hook up. I know there has been an effort to get some of us together......I'd be willing to drive an hour or two to meet up. My only issue is that my wife is very pregnant. She is due in the next 3 weeks or so! I should be free after the first of the year.......

  2. Is you asking to post video mean you are done???????????

If you are ,, where you from,, I want a ride!!!!!!

She's running but not out of the gates yet......

We started her up and the cam makes this truck, it just sounds like it wants to die but a very deep lub, lub, lub rumble........

After we it ran for a few we noticed that the rear main was leaking. We must have had a bad rear main. :puke:

The rear main should be changed and have her up on the dyno Monday....

I have some video, but my fire wire got cut. I'm out of town thru Thursday, but I have one of the guys sending me a video of idle and on the dyno........

If you’re in the western burbs, I’m in St. Charles Maybe we can get a group of us out and shot the shiet........

  3. We have a group that rented out a 1/4 mile track (Union Grove) on Friday afternoon.

I figure if I get the truck back tomorrow, I'll have about 300-500 miles on it by Friday.

I'm only going to run it a few times.....

I also bring up the Z06 to get some times with the Nitto's on.....Cool 50*day, maybe 11's?

  4. Jeff, are the rockers adjustable?  I can't remember what type of lifters you said you were using?  If you are using stock type, how much pre-load are they setting it to to start with?

    Ben,

    Comp LS1/LS6 Pro-Magnum 1.85 rocker arm kit w/ 3/8 flat guide plates.....

Should be up and running by Wednesday, Dyno'd Thrusday, and running 1/4 mile on Friday...............:fingersx:

  5. We were going for the 90mm to feed this big-ass motor.....

I really did not want to spend the $$$ on a 78mm when in 6 months it will be dropped into the Z06 with a 90mm intake and TB....

I wanted the 90mm to workout for the benefits of a very large supercharger or turbo in the Vette....

800 Hp, with high 9's or low 10's is my goal in the Z06......

  6. Jeff, are the rockers adjustable?  I can't remember what type of lifters you said you were using?  If you are using stock type, how much pre-load are they setting it to to start with?

Ben, I've been going back and forth on this with my engine builder. I know they are going to be Comp, but I don’t have any specifics... As soon as I know, I'll post.........

    Well the nitrous is out/gone........

I'm going with the 90mm intake and TB.

Atta-boy, ;) Do it right the first time.

The truck intake just looks out of place on a C5-R block.

Can you say buzz kill :banghead: .....I was all set to go with the FAST 78 or 90mm intake and larger TB. But the issue is the TB, we can find one that works with the truck fly by wire system. We found one but its not going to be released until next year.....

So back to the stock truck intake and we'll polish and port the stock TB and were up and running next week......

The motor will only be in the truck through spring, and then come summer I'll put it in the Z06 with a supercharger or turbo where parts are more readily available.....

  7. Well the nitrous is out/gone........

I'm going with the 90mm intake and TB.

It looks like there will be some reconfiguring going on to make the new intake work. Basically, going with an F-Body bracketing and moving the coil pack and a few other things. It should look like the C5-R motor picture below w/o the velocity stacks.

    There goes another week......

  8. Well after taking a closer looking at the stock truck intake, valve covers, and some other stuff I started looking......

Talking with Speed Inc and Katech now..........I should know later today what I’m doing......

Looking at the FAST 90mm intake and 90mm throttle body.....

Valve covers will be close to these, they will accommodate the larger rockers.

I'll have to move the coils also.....

  9. Still waiting on some parts from Comp.......

What kind of Rockers do you plan to use?

I know LS1 speed is a fan of the stock rockers and does not recommend shaft mounts.

I see this motor is hitting 550 RWHP on a Z06 what are your targets on your truck with and without juice?

    Great Job!

Here are the Speed Inc rockers I'm using w/o shaft mount Just got the studs from Comp to mount yesterday.......

    RKE-350A1.7L.jpg

I'll have good flowing heads, exhaust, underdrive crank pulley, and some other goodies, but my limiting factor is the stock truck intake. I'd really like to do the FAST 90mm with a good throttle-body. But thats $1500 I don't have now.....

I'm guess to answer your question, I'm expecting around 500RWHP with the trucks drive-train and upper 500's with the nitrous.

But I'm still worried about the trans, can it hold up?

  10. Still waiting on some parts from Comp.......

    Rocker arms, push rods?

For some reason the studs for the rocker were missing.....They got in on Friday.

You are putting a stock truck intake back on it?

Also, I think that most of the prople that were "having problems" with Patriot heads not flowing well were not having them done by hand, just the way they came out of the box.

Stock truck intake are fairly good, I'll go with a FAST when I have an extra $1000....

The flow chart on my heads look really good......The heads should not be an issue...

  11. Not too many good things being said about Patriot here lately.  At least one sponsor has dropped their products from their line.  I believe it was Texas Speed.  Good luck with them.

    Adjustable rockers and CompR lifters?

    Ben,

I've read every thread on Patriot, and all I can say is when it comes down to it, you can only trust what you read from people that you know or have built relationships with.

I have the flow sheets around here somewhere, and they are what they are. Flow numbers and part sets right up there with their competition.

    I went with the following:

alum. roller 1.7 rockers (I think they are Comp)

    Comp 850-16 lifters

  12. The block is C5R, the C5R heads and intake would have cost me my marriage! Awwww, those velocity stacks would have looked great under my hood though....

    491018_31_full.jpg

I went with Patriot Stage III LS6 heads that are hand ported. The flow numbers looked really good. I just need to find the damn sheet and I'll post.........

The machine shop misplace my head bolts/studs, but they found them today. Take a guess what retail on those bad boys are for the C5R block........

Over $1,000 for bolts and studs.........I'm glad they found them!
