Thanks for all the info man, much appreciated. I decided against the LED thing, I saw the cooling fin versions and a few of your older posts about fitment and decided to play it safe with HIDs, at least people are making them work and have for years now. I bought a good set of morimotos cause I have seen my brother deal with issues of eBay HIDs. (I'm sure theres good sets on eBay too, I just played it as safe as possible. I want these to be set and forget and I didn't have weeks to do research on Ebay) They're 5k 35w, the truck is taller than most cars and I'll be shining them into the back seat of cars at stoplights already, 55w would just make me 'that guy'. In a lowered car, I might've sprung for them. Question: so do the HIDs stay on with the drls, or am I safe? I know they're finicky with voltage input and I think the drls get something different than reg headlight signal

yeah we'll see, still pending. I haven't figured out a shop yet, I just moved to Houston 7mo ago. Have a recommendation? I was just gonna search around for a custom fab shop close to downtown... Something professional. I don't want any hiccups when time is so short.

Agreed, I think they would look weird on a truck though...maybe it's just me.

Tony at TBSS says the djm arms are in production for another run right now and have a 10 business day delay. I'd like to get them sooner if possible. If you have a NEW set of these laying around let me know a price. Thanks

I'll check out those chrome bulbs for the blinkers. thanks. Can someone clarify my understanding of beams in these trucks: highbeams are all in the upper housing and thats all that's there. the lower housing inside bulbs are the headlights, and the lower housing outside bulbs are the drls ? And there is only a blinker in the lower housing, correct?

For those of you with HIDs: Are you buying the capacitors that help with flickering? I heard this was more for newer german cars. It seems that the relays are automatically included so I'm going to be getting those regardless

Thanks a lot for mentioning the amber corner bulbs. I heard about those ambers that look blue on the outside. I'll see if I can dig any up. And I guess I'll go with HIDs. I think preferably I'd like to find 5k's. I've seen 6k before and it's too blue for me, but I like the look. Didn't know that about suby's, my STI never had them. I was so close to buying a spec B legacy before I pulled the trigger on the STI. Those cars are all a blast though. What a motor. Thanks again

Could you recommend a decent place with good quality ballasts? I'm new to htx, located downtown. I'm not opposed to buying them at a shop, just new to the area and I won't be home for two weeks still. So ordering them online just gave me lots of options and I'd have everything at my door when I got home.

Did you switch from HID to LED? Hearing mixed reviews, I know HIDs have been the 'best' headlights out there for some time now, but I'm curious about how LEDs compare. And those are just LED bulbs that plug right into the OEM plugs correct? Things I'm worried about HIDs with is: Will they get to me in time (I have about 2 weeks to get them to my place and install them, and I have limited tools), they are expensive, and if I have a ballast go out on me I will be screwed so I need some good reliability.. By the way, what tonneau is that?? It looks super low profile and color-matched...I would love something like that. Thanks for the confirmation of the quality. I heard about adding extra silicon to the seals, I'll be sure to do that. Still toying with the LED vs HID thing....but I need to order soon! What did your install take for time/tools? How quick was shipping?

Erick I realize I may have misinterpreted what you meant by LED lights. Did you mean the full custom LED housings or just inserting LED bulbs into the OEM housings? Cause if that works, it might be what I end up doing..

Eh... yeah I'm not much of a fan of the LED headlights now that I looked around a bit. And I imagine I'd have more of a hassle with the HIDs than I want to try and depend on/put up with. So moving forward, what do you guys recommend for the brightest looking regular bulbs? And can anyone confirm what blinker bulbs I'll need if I get a headlight set with clear reflectors?

Do these look okay? I generally avoid eBay due to quality.. - The blinker reflectors are clear on these which I like, does this mean I'll need to get amber bulbs or else they'll be white blinkers? - Related to bulbs.. Does anyone have any recommendations for good bright bulbs? Do you recommend going HID? I don't want to have HIDs that I have to fiddle with or can't depend on because this is my only truck and I drive for work at night A LOT. - If you have any pictures of your aftermarket headlights/bulbs/hids on your black SS could you please ATTACH them here? Yeah the cars are outrageous. I'm hoping in 5yrs or so I'll have sold my s2k and saved up to buy a supra so I can start to compete! I'll definitely have tons of media afterwards, I'll make sure to make a thread with it.

Sure can you attach it to a post here? I won't see an embedded image. Once I found out the reps aren't exact reps of the sierra wheels though I got hesitant, regardless of finish. I only saw the real ones at a dealer and they looked awesome. Didn't wanna be dissapointed.
