  1. Shawn, mine did something similar, I did the same and pulled the radio fuse and it seemed that was the problem, then it came back and it is probably in the cluster, take apart the dash and unplug the cluster for a few days to see it goes away. If it does you will need your cluster rebuilt. I had gmgaugeguy.com rebuild mine and now no problems. I've read all kind of threads on here and the other truck forums and that seem like the more likely suspect.

  2. So after this happen I've clean off the grounding connection up under the headlights, and the motor to firewall, and the code has not come back but when I let my truck sit for a few days and I start it up the cluster is in the other languages, and I have to reset it. For the last month its been wet and probably condensation on connections. This spring I will add other ground connections and check the throttle connection.

  3. Ok I had this happen, I have read alot of threads on this. Mine happen on when the weather changed and a lot of condensation was in the air. i tighten and checked all the grounds. Our trucks are getting old and more corrosion on the ground connections are happening so we need to keep them clean. Got the code of P1516 and reset it and it hasn't come back. My truck sat for about 4 days when this happen and since that I have been starting and running it for a 5 minutes everyday or every other day and no it won't repeat itself. Anyway I am monitoring it weekly. Here is a good article if you have the problem.

  4. I have 2 Silverados one an SS and the other a shortbox clone with the 6.0 motor also, both programed. The Silverado SS extended cab the fans hardly come on, the short box comes on most of the time if I let it sit for a while but not driving. I think mine start up at about 210 degrees.

  5. Mine is just starting on the clear coat peel. I waxed it really good to make it through the winter. Yes I did a street racing in my time also and I look back that nothing bad happen. The Charger will have a 440 4 speed when I'm done. I ask around on the wheel.

  6. Ray,

It been a long ride, sad to see the truck go, both of us have been here since 2003, I'm too attached to mine with 137,000 on the clock plus the short box is done but needs a decent paint job, I might sell it if I can get a decent offer on it. I have 2 Mopars, one is a complete 68 Roadrunner and a 68 Charger I am just getting ready to start on the sheet metal repair, should keep me busy for the next couple of years.

  7. I don't think you're going to get headers and a cam within your budget, UNLESS you're doing the labor yourself.

Long tube headers (go ahead and go with 1 7/8"), electric fans, and a tune.

Make sure all is sound mechanically before you start the mods. I had to do a front diff at 98K miles!

Welcome to the money pit! LOL!

I would also have someone check the diff out, alot truck have had to change the out around that mileage, I think I paid $1700 for my rebuild.

  8. I think only one single cab SS was made with an LS6. Yes if i looked at a clone SS to buy, I I would start taking money of the price when they don't have oem cladding, SS interior, heated and power seat control on the door panels, proper dash, and a 6.0 motor.

  9. I think most ask more because they have time into it, and add that into the price of the truck, if you make it an exact clone you have plus the extra cost of SS cladding, recarpet, seats, dash cluster, SS dash badge, 6.0 motor, SS wheels, outside badging, rear spoiler. Bumper covers, grille, etc. And probably the cost of paint. And I see alot of SS going between 8K and 12K.

Also I think alot of guys that are cloning, already have the truck so they start piecing it together, not spending all there money at one time. and add hunting parts time and most have shipping cost for the parts and add that to the price of the truck, I don't see to many that are complete clones, there usually half way done or just the cladding and bumper covers and grille.

Ask me how I know, on my shortbox clone I have about $2000 in shipping of parts purchased, new carpet, $400, headliner, $600, Cluster, $400, new grille $350, new ducts and lower grille, $325, new electric fan and radiator and parts and tune, $600, SS steering wheel with new LEDs control buttons $400, LED all other lighting $120, new headlights $200, replaced rack and pinion steering, $400, new ball joints $125, fixed exhaust, $125, and new tires $800, SS mirrors $100. And that just off the top of my head, i was able to recoup a couple of thousand for resale on my parts I replace with newer and extra parts left over.
