  1. Yeah, Toyota has been in the Nascar Truck series for a couple of years now. I really don't like the Idea of having them race in Nascar. But, Nascar is a huge business ... and Money talks ...

seems now toyota is built more in america than in japan, chevy from canada, dodges from mexico, is there a true american built car anymore?

... I know, may be alittle off topic ... but here is my $ .02 cents ... on the start of the thread ....

It's Called NAFTA and other Free Trade agreements ...

The Japanese can import parts to the US, with no tarrif ... if the car came in as a whole unit, then the US government hits them with a high import tax. Same about NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) ... That is why most parts of your Chevrolets are made in Mexico, then Assembled in the USA.

Also, these Japanese companies don't build these plants out of the goodness of their hearts ... They get HUGE tax credits, in states like Tennesse. So, by importing Parts, Assembling them in the US, saving money on the Import Tax/Tarrif, tax breaks for operating in some states. These companies are making huge profits, that just go back overseas .... BTW ... the money they would have spent on tarrifs, pays for most of our US labor force in these factories. that way, the profit per vehicle is much higher, then importing them straight from Japan.

:withstupid: Although, some of the Japanese (foreign) companies in the US are now looking to break away from the Japanese parent companies and make their identity and profits stay in the US. I work for a Japanese started/owned company that supplies Toyota and we have established a North America corporate company. The goal is to become an established US company that keeps the profits in the States. Granted, the Japanese will always have their influence and say in some directions that their US companies are to go but at least they are making strides to localize their business.

I will agree that NASCAR is loosing their heritage by adding TOYOTA to the group, but most are right when they say the almighty dollar rules and that is why they are in there now. NASCAR's main group has been struggling over the years and Toyota is a way for NASCAR to preserve their money market.

  2. Wow.  There's so much to say, I've got a million thoughts in my head watching that.  Just - Wow.  That is one of the finest examples of personal character I've witnessed.

    Mr. P.

:withstupid: I could not even begin to imagine how tough that would be for me to sit there and do that, yet MJF conducts the interview through the syptoms with nothing but class. It is truly a shame for anyone to have to go through the horrible illnesses that are in our country. I hope for their sake that one day science will prevail to help these folks live a pain free life.

  3. What kind of mods are out there for the titan or the frontier? Just wondering

As a Titan owner now, I can tell you that the market is small compared to Chevy, Ford and Dodge. Finding mods for the Titan is not as simple as going to a Stylin' Concepts or other such supplier. You have to search sometimes to find stuff...I am sure that will change over time.

  4. Looks good. You can always go lower but modifications to the front end may be needed. I would guess that if you went too much lower in the front right now that you would have some rubbing issues...but their are a lot of guys a hell of lot smarter in that dept on here.

  5. Okay, maybe there was a little misunderstanding in what I was saying.  Based upon everything I have read on their website (not just the war stories,) these guys seem to really have their heads up their chocolate starfish's.  That does not in any way signify you as who I am talking about.  That's what I gathered and that's my opinion of what I have read off of their forum.

I'm sorry if you felt that was aimed at you.  My bad.  I'm sure a lot of Titan owners aren't this way.

I do agree that ("full of themselves") happens at times on all forums- but Titantalk has to be the worst I've seen.

Furthermore, I am a member of a many many forums and not one have I seen people with the type of attitude that they have there.  I can totally respect people that really take pride in their vehicles and like to share stories, ask questions, help others, showoff mods and be a friendly community open to debate.

However, being disrepectful like they are and not even welcoming in new members into their community (without banning them) is just wrong.

No problem, I did not take anything personal. I am just glad to see that this topic has blossomed into something good...the debate on the new body style of the Silverado compared to the Titan. This is a worthy debate.

  6. You know, you really cannot call Toyotas or Nissan's Japanese trucks anymore b/c they are built here in the USA.  I know they still use some Japanese parts but that trend is slowly decreasing to where both will one day be mostly American made.  I can speak from experience on this matter b/c my company is one of the biggest suppliers for Toyota in North America.

Yeah they are built here, but they are still Japanese owned companies. Other than that, I'm smart enough not to walk into that one :chevy:

You are very correct but the Japanese owned companies take care of their people a lot better then the good old American companies. Look at Ford and GM getting in trouble and axing thousands and thousands of people. I had my doubts about Japanese owned companies but the little bastards are smart and good businessmen...probably b/c they don't have too much else to do over there.

  7. I can't believe these guys are that full of themselves.  Unbelieveable.   :nono:

Okay guys/gals, I must chime in now since I have been around this site for quite some time and now own a Titan. As far as being "full of themselves" that can be portrayed at any vehicle forum, SilveradoSS.com included. Let's face it we all have a deep passion and bias about the vehicles we own...me included and if someone questions, or calls us out, then we as humans tend to get a little defensive. I agree with the quick banning on TitanTalk.com is a little much, but that is solely up to the moderators and not the Members on the site. It would be no different then Holty booting some trolls off. And I can remember a few cases in the past on here where some Hemi trolls were booted off pretty quick.

As far as which one, the SSS or Titan, is quicker and better...well that can be determined somewhere else. The Titan does have a lot of power and torque...more then some would imagine. The SSS is one fast truck and a lot of fun to drive...but the fact is that the Titan and SSS are not the same and never will be. The SSS was made to be a sporty fast truck from stock and not your "everyday" truck like a normal Silverado. The Titan was made to compete with your normal "everyday" truck market and I feel it holds it own very well.

So let the debates and games go on and I will sit back and laugh...

    :troll::jester:

 Go ahead, Ban Me..... :jester:

  8. ROFLAMO I got banned without ever posting....I guess TitansareSlow wasn't a great choice for a name   I've got a bumper sticker on the wall in my office at work "There is no word in Japanese for Truck" has a nice big bow tie on the bottom.  I wish I could find more of them Chevy put them out back in the day.
