  1. Thanks for the info. The dealer and I have been speaking on the phone about once every 30 minutes for the last two hours ironing out the deal. If we can get enough for my trade ('04 S10 ZR5), and work his price down a little to get me the payment I need/want, then I'm going to drive down tonight to pick it up. The dealers ~60 miles away, so I don't want to drive down there only to fall in love with the truck, and then find out I'll have a $750/mo payment or something outrageous like that. They're asking $25,280 for an '04 in Victory Red. All the options from the pictures (Dual Zone, Bose, Onstar, Trailer hitch). It's got 44,840 miles or so on it......That sound high or low or about right for that? I priced the truck through kbb.com, NADA.com, and Edmunds.com.....came up with an average of $26,675 from those three sites. So it appears to be inline price wise. Any more thoughts? *edit* Thought I would throw a link to the trucks ad on Autotrader, as well as some more info. We've agreed to a trade in value, and he knows my payoff, and we're now working on the price, and terms to see if we can meet in the middle to get this deal done. With any luck the payment will fall where it needs to, and I can go pick it up tomorrow. I suppose we'll see soon enough though. Link to the '04 SSS on Autotrader
  2. I'd be interested in showing up on a Saturday.....assuming the deal goes through on this '04 I'm looking at one Monday (I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it).......I've been to a TON of S-series meets, so I know the drill, just need to know where/when and all that!
  3. I'm heading Monday after work to look at an '04 Victory Red with 44k miles. Anyone have any thoughts on "market value" for one of these? Anything I should look at besides a carfax? Any known leaks/drips/problems of that nature?
  4. I've only done a little wakeboarding.....Did start wakeskating this summer though. Talk about tons of fun!!! Heres a picture or me when I was just learning. I just figured out how to ride switch last weekend, and I'm going to be working this week on some surface 360's. I still can't ollie worth a crap, so shuv-its and kick-flips will have to wait. Looks like you've got a helluva boat to do it with there though!
  5. Looks to me like he either needs to turn off torque management, or shift sooner. Looks like it kinda falls over above ~4750rpm or so. Maybe it's just me?
  6. Haven't gone to look at any of them. Going to try and check out the '04 at Brown Brothers this weekend.
  7. Yep, going to look into that '04 tonight. The '03 has already sold, just got off the phone with the dealership there to confirm .....Maybe for the best. The more I think about it the more that cosigning thing might be a bad idea. Not 100% sure still though. In the end she offered, and it's her credit score I'd be wagering against, so the risk to me is lower than it is to her. Either way I'm liable for the cash, however if she cosigns, then she's liable as well. Not sure how that would effect her outlook or not. Who knows, I'm sure there will be some more talking about it tonight. I'll let you guys know how it pans out. More advice/thoughts/opinions are always welcome!!
  8. Thanks for the insight so far. I also found this one in downtown Louisville. $25k so it's a little more, but it's an '04 with significantly less miles. Also coming from a GM dealer I'd feel a little better about it over the first one.....Have to think it over though. In other thoughts about the Fiance, I somewhat agree. I'm not sure I want that hanging over our head to start with. At the same time, I'd like to think I'd asked the right one for this kind of understanding/help/support. I'm still mulling that one over. Have to see where the dust settles with the numbers, and how she truly feels about it, and that sort of thing. Keep the thoughts/advice coming.
  9. First a little back story. About last year I was in need of a new daily driver. My '00 S10 Xtreme was slowly dieing on my, and still is for that matter. Found a local dealer with a Silverado SS, well my credit was in piss-poor shape so I wasn't able to get a good rate, and needed a truck soon, so I settled on a '04 S10 Crew Cab ZR5. Nice truck, but not exactly what I wanted. I probably shouldn't have settled, but so goes life. The ZR5 doesn't pull the Xtreme on a trailer too well, and is also a bit washy while pulling my friends boats (Uncle has 24ft pontoon that is marginal with the ZR5, and the other friends 22' cuddy cabin is a definate "short tow only" boat). Fast forward a bit to today. I've been making all my payments on time, and have repaired my credit somewhat, as well as have a Fiance that is willing to cosign on a loan if I need it to get the interest rate I need. Nevermind if thats a good idea or not for now, I'm still debating on using that avenue........Anyway, on to the truck. I've found what appears to be a nice '03 Silverado SS in Sheperdsville. They are asking $21k for it. It's red, and has 75k miles on it +/- some. The miles don't scare me at all, and the price seems about right. Since I financed the ZR5 for a longer term, assuming a good rate on the SS, I can keep the same payment, drop 2 months of the loan term, and upgrade to the truck I wanted a year ago. At this point if anyone has a few minutes I'd like to see what you all think about the price on this truck, as well as the general condition. I know Autotrader pics are crap, and hard to tell anything from, but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Autotrader Ad for red '03 SSS Thanks in advance for looking at that. I'm also curious to see what kind of MPG you guys are getting around town with a liberal use of the gas pedal. The ZR5 is only getting about 15mpg average with the 4.3 in it, so if I can hover near there, I'll gladly take the hit on buying the premium fuel. Anything else I should be aware of when looking at an SSS as a daily driver? Thanks again for any/all help you all might be able to offer.
  10. Not an owner yet (going to start looking in the spring)...... Looks like I'm the first to chime in from Louisville though. J-town/Fishreville area to be exact.
