  1. Sounds a little high to me but all in all not a bad deal especially if there is nothing wrong with it mechanically. Just my opinion.
  2. Is there any way to get the two minutes back? Please tell me there is a way to get my two minutes back. Please oh please tell me there is a way.
  3. Okay back to the original question (however much I enjoy seeing pictures but that is beside point). I used to get 14.4 MPG, then I added a folding tonneau cover and it increased my MPG to 14.8. I have not been resetting every time that I fill up and I have made about 6 trips to Houston from San Antonio, a little under 400 miles round trip if my calculations are correct, keeping it around 80 MPH for most of the trip. I drive an 03 AWD SSS. I put on a triple folding cover since I still use my truck as a truck. It does not look as sexy as the full fiberglass, painted to match cover but it is effective and I still have full use of my bed, so I am not complaining. Just my two cents, but I think the Tonneau cover really helps and was SIMPLE to install. If you want details on what kind I installed let me know.
  4. I thought painting "SS" on your vehicle gave it 30 something horsepower. What were they thinking?
  5. I have the same problem. Apparently it is a systemic problem with the Chevy's. It is annoying as hell and unfortunately I do not have a solution for this.
  6. Welcome to the site. Nice looking truck. What does it have under the hood?
  7. If you ask me, these people should be sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, and every other hell hole we in uniform have served. I only have three tours in Iraq so what do I know. Round all of them up and let them go serve and really find out what it is like.
  8. After reading through the old posts I have come to the conclusion that I do not want to drop my truck more than 2 inches but I still don't understand all of the advantages and disadvantages of lowering and leveling the truck. Any light that can be shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Which Hids

I was looking through the forum and some other sites and the best that I can figure is that the 6000 HIDs seem to be the most popular. I want to upgrade to the HIDs and was wondering what the advantage is to the 6000 over the 10000 or the 12000. Also if anyone has suggestions on where to order then it would be appreciated as well.
  10. I saw another black SS parked on Fort Sam Houston this morning. Just wondering if the owner was on the forum. If so drop me a line.
  11. GM has extended the warranty on some of the clusters. Mine just went out and the dealer is replacing it for only the cost of labor due to the mileage on my truck. My advice is to contact GM and find out if your vehicle is covered in the extension. As far as labor in Europe, I just got back from being stationed over there so all I can say is maybe AAFES can help out on that.
  12. Thanks for the link. I have always loved Meguiar's stuff. It is pretty much the only wax I ever use on my truck. I will try buffing it out, hopefully it will work.
  13. I want to install HIDs and I figure using my stock headlights would be the best way to go. The only problem is that my passenger side headlight is dull and looks like it is covered in crap but it isn't. Is there a way to get it back to clear or do I need to replace it all together? If I have to replace it does anyone have suggestions on where to get headlights?
  14. Welcome to the site. I am no guru when it comes to trucks but I have learned a lot just from the search function.
  15. I saw a post in the last couple of weeks about someone looking for a black 03 SSS with no "go fast" mods. I can't find the posting (I did search for awhile). If they are still looking for a truck let me know.
  16. Thanks for the advice, I will try pulling the fuse and calling it a day.
  17. Is there any way to disconnect the factory installed alarm? I am about to ship my vehicle back to the states and the shipping company wants the alarm system deactivated. I thought about pulling the fuse but not sure if that would deactivate anything else at the same time. Any advice would be helpful.
  18. Welcome to the sight and the family. I had the pleasure of working with your division in Iraq just a little while ago. Keep safe.
  19. I have not used them yet, but I have heard great things about Wheatley tuning, their link is all over the site. I plan on getting my 03 SSS tuned by them in a few weeks when I get back to the states. If I have researched correctly everything can be done through the mail. Again I have not used them (yet) but I have not heard any complaints yet.
  20. My first pistol was a Glock G29, the sub-compact 10mm. I chose this because it does not have the penetration of the 9mm but it does not have the recoil of the 45. I have shot several thousands of rounds through it and had no problems at all. The only drawback is that the rounds are kind of expensive and I can only find them in 180 grain rounds. It is VERY easy to break down and clean and is probably the most reliable pistol I have ever used. Every time I take it to the range, everyone wants to know how such a small pistol can pack suck a punch. I also have a Smith and Wesson M&P 45. It is easier to find different loads for this one and is almost as much fun to shoot. It is harder to carry concealed but packs more of a punch. I use a 9mm Beretta at work (I am in the Army) and I would not suggest this frame to ANYONE. I have not shot the H&K .45 but from what I hear you can't go wrong with that one either, it will probably be my next buy, unless I go for the pure testosterone handgun the Smith and Wesson 500 or the Desert Eagle. There is just something about having a hand cannon (not practical at all but it would so much fun at the range!!!!!) Anyway, just my two cents.
  21. Since the infamous day of 9/11 is about to come to a close for me over here in Germany, I wanted to say thank you for all those who serve. Firefighters, Police Officers, Sailors, Airmen (and women), Marines, and fellow Soldiers. God only knows why we chose these lines of work, I guess it is in our blood. Anyway, thank you to all that have served, are serving, or are going to serve. :flag:
  22. Welcome to the site. I have an 03 with over 73K miles and I still love driving it. Keep us updated on your progress.
  23. You should be okay as long as the ammo and the weapon are not in the same part of the vehicle, which makes transporting in a truck a little more difficult, but you are best off going to your local police station and asking directly. That is a hard one to go by the "Its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" train of thought. Very nice rifle BTW.
