Funny, of the 10 or so of these I have done the gains have been the same within 2-5 hp each time. 45-50 HP with the TB and the timing that was added. I am able to add about 4-5* on each set up w/o any issues. I am able to run 21-23* on each one of these I do. To call it a disservice is kinda harsh......It is what it is, a great mod that nets 45-50 rwhp each time its done. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So you're saying that if you take a vehicle that is already custom tuned, that if you add a 90mm TB, you'll be able to get an additional 45-50 HP out of it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, you could consider mine custom tuned....Since John at Magna Charger tuned it.....and yes I gained 48 rwhp from the TB and the tuning. Bolting on the TB will gain you about 20-25 rwhp and the added timing is usually good for the rest. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So you're saying that your vehicle was well tuned before you put the 90mm TB on? Did John do the tuning before the TB install? Then you put the 90mm TB on, and tuned an additional 50 RWHP out of the vehicle? Did John do the tuning again? I'm simply trying to find out where exactly your gains were made.

Great numbers - can't wait to see what more tweaking will yield. On the 90mm TB issue...I'm not a fan of the overly-high numbers that get thrown about with these mods, I don't understand the rationale behind pumping them up beyond what they really are. I routinely see mod increases lumped in with tuning increases and corrections for overly rich or conservative tunes. It's a huge disservice to all of us.

Well since the only vehicles they're in are the TBSS and the Vortec Max package trucks, I'm gonna guess he's got a Vortec Max. I have heard NOTHING from zippy or anyone else about upgrades to this tranny. Nor have I seen a comprehensive list of differences between it and the 4L65E.

When I subscribed I told them I wanted no junk mail whatsoever. Turns out they flagged my account to not receive junk email, but they sold my name and address on a list to other companies willing to buy it. As a result, I received the first of what I expect to be numerous junk mail catalogs from vendors today. I called GMHTP, cancelled my subscription, and asked for a refund. It's too bad companies have to do sleazy things like that. They don't realize that the relationship I have with them is by consent, and if they want to sell my name, they need to ask me first. Right now the law doesn't make them ask, you have to tell them not to do it (they won't tell you they're going to do it, but you still have to assume they will and tell them not to...B.S. in my opinion). The way I look at it, if they sell my name, they need to give me a cut of what they're selling that list for, since it's my name they're making money off of. Of course, that doesn't happen. GMHTP's excuse was, "Well, all magazines do it." That's no excuse for sleazy behavior, IMO. Just because you can do it doesn't mean it's smart or right to do it. Regardless, I specifically asked them not to do what they did, and they went ahead and did it anyway. So either the first person lied when they said they were flagging my account for no junk mail, or they screwed up. Either way, they lost my business and subscription money for good, forever.

Correct - the important point is that McGaughys is engaging in institutionalized denial of driveline problems (specifically, pinion angles) when changing the suspension height on any vehicle they sell a kit for. That is the common thread and what should be focused on.

I assume that it was rear u-joint failure? How many miles after the drop until your driveline let go? Mr. P. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, the driveshaft came apart in the middle and sheared off at the front u-joint.

Holy Christ dude. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There've been other reports of GM driveshafts letting go on stock vehicles, too. That one might not be due to the drop kit. No flaming here, just keepin' it real. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There was a vibration after my drop that wasn't there before the drop, that's what you need to focus on and pay attention to. Just keepin' it real.

The chickens are coming home to roost for this guy. I remember in 2003 when I installed my drop kit, I got some vibration and called him. He said, "We've sold hundreds of these kits and you're the only one who has ever called with a problem with vibration." Little did I know that was what he was telling everyone else who called, too. I think what's happening is he's scared. My driveshaft broke a few months later, it was just lucky that no one was hurt....half of the driveshaft came to rest about 8" from someone's feet. My guess is that he's realizing that he's in a very vulnerable position, legally, for damages, and he's going on the offensive in a (misguided) attempt to nip the legal hassles in the bud. Most likely it's greed on his part that has him in this predicament. If he is not a moron (I'm sure he isn't) then he knows that dropping a vehicle causes driveline issues, but that means he would have had to spend time, energy, money and other resources addressing it. I bet that somewhere along the line he decided he would not address it, and basically lie his way through all of his sales and support issues. I have zero sympathy for the guy at this point.

Maybe he's just tired of being in business and decided he would do his best to try and sink his company. He's off to a great start !!!!!

Sounds like you have tuning issues, nothing to do with a converter.

This is one of the problems when you let people who design products interface with customers. And a reason why some companies only grow so large. And why the first thing Venture Capitalists do when they take over a company with good technology is fire the founder, since he usually knows nothing about growing a business.
