  1. Thanks Guys, Sorry i've not been on for a while, been real busy at work and i've had the SS in pieces again after getting a rattle in the top end of the engine, new rockers etc and should all be back together this coming weekend, not had a good year so far, but i can see light at the end of the tunnel at last lol. and i'll be back bigger and tronger very soon, work is starting to ease off a bit so should have more time for the internet and SILVERADO SS, ALL THE BEST GUYS EAMONN
  2. There is a Place on Gods earth for all creatures, most of them beside the Potatoes and Gravy. never seen a heathy vegertarian/veagn and thay all have Bad Gas and Fart to much... Hunting is now almost banned in the UK fox hunting is totally banned they can have the hunt but cant catch the fox, the dogs don't quite get it...
  3. i love the look of the roll-pans and was offered one when i bought my truck but didn't buy it due to the reasons stated in this thread. looks 10 out of 10 rear protection 2 out of 10... to many bad drivers tailgaters and folks on cellphones not looking where there going over here for me to take the chance, I've been rear ended a couple of times and appreciate how and why the bumper is there... just my 2 cents worth
  4. arrived in post this morning makes the truck look real cool don't you think??? where'd you put yours?
  5. we work hard to afford our truck, so keeping it in good condition is only natural, after a house purchace a vehicle is probably the second most expensive item people buy and it amazes me the way some people treat their vehicles, when my truck was parked outside while awaiting new engine and transmission, heidi (my wife) reckon i was like a bear with a sore ass... even my other cars Mitsibushi Lancer and Renault espace are kept clean, washed every week (but i only wax them once every 2 months lol )hey i even clean my tricycle once a month in the summer... and i enjoy detailing my truck and looking at it when its clean and enjoy driving it even more, i dont allow any eating or drinking inside the truck with the exception of bottled water and even then i'm not really happy (i had a buddy open a soda in the back of my old truck and it took me days to get rid of the stains, ) as to the leafblower... Great way of getting all the excess water from window channels door handles and hard to reach places with drying towel, i thought everyone used one... i think i got the idea on here ...my neighbours think i'm crazy, esp as i only use it for my truck never been used in th garden lol... my buddys detail shop has a water softner supply and i'm considering one for my truck, it would be handy for the Hot Tub too, no water spots on hot days when washing truck and less chemicals in the tub... maybe after the New Hood, cai, brakes etc etc lol and before and after winter over here i wash and clean under the truck and on another note.. a clean car/truck always sells for more than a dirty one, whic would you prefer???
  6. IMHO. And this is from over 30 years car/truck ownership 6 years selling polishes and waxes to dealerships. i use the following products, twice a year i take my truck to my Buddy's detail shop www.evolutionvalet.com for full clay bar, machine polish and wax, the rest of the year i use Mothers or Maguires Clay Bar (Yellow) when necessary usually before the big shows ( i like a shiny truck) I use Mothers California Gold Car Wash (2 bucket method with grit guards Handy having a Buddy who's a detailer I've learnt lots from him, even if he is a ford guy ) then i use a leaf blower and towels to dry the truck off and then onto the next stages California Gold Pre-Wax Cleaner–Step 1 California Gold Sealer & Glaze–Step 2 California Gold Pure Carnauba Wax–Step 3( I prefer hard wax in round tin) but if I'm short on time i will use the liquid version or maguires Gold Class) To buff up after a journey i use California Gold Showtime Instant Detailer I know its starting to sound like a ad for mothers, but i feel they are the best value for money around. i use babywipes on my leather at least once a week and use a leather cleaner and feed once a month. for glass i find a cheap supermarket (mall brand) ideal quick on/off and always use fresh paper toweling then Rain-ex. for Wheels it's Mothers or Maguires chrome cleaner, and same with tire dressing, Maguires hot wheels is becoming a favorite fairley long lasting. for plastic there's a product over here called Dash Dandy (its a silicone based spray, so use sparingly and not near paint shops) spray a small amount onto a microfibre towel and wipe over. i have a different microfibre towel for each product, and a lambswool mitten for washing. for carpets i use shake and vac dont know if you can buy it over there USA but a small amount goes a long way and smells nice.. i can spend a whole weekend on detailing my truck, OH and between details i use showtime to keep her shiny between and always carry a tub of bird and tar wipes for when i get birds leaving messages... Sorry for the long post, i get carried away when it comes to keeping my cars and truck clean eamonn
  7. what kind of gas mileage are you getting? i'm getting 10.7mpg and at $9.00 a gallon over here in the UK. I find less right foot on the throttle works quite well. red light races are now for weekends only lol and sedate driving when going to and from work helps, but i didn't buy the SS for its economy, i have a 07 mitsibushi Lancer station wagon for when the weathers not so good,or if I want to take the dogs out, but since gas went UP again i'm alternating use with the SS, not as much fun but loads cheaper. If you find the secret to good gas miles be sure to post on here, all the best eamonn
  8. i've alwayd paid my detail shop to machine polish my truck,i'm not brave enough to do it myself yet!!, seen a buddy try and messed up real bad, had to have his car resprayed after getting it wrong, my detailer says gently and take your time and it should be OK.. let us know how you get on and with some before and after pictures... Good luck with it hope it all goes well eamonn
  9. Good real Good now my truck is finally fixed, i can now continue with the mods, 2 transmissions and a new engine in the last year kinda wiped out my savings lol. i must learn not to WOT every day lol but with gas prices at over $9.00 a gallon the govenment are helping me save money on transmissions lol, still finding it hard not to blow away the ricers and "performance" cars when i see em coming up in my rear view mirror or at the lights lol. i'll be posting more now i'm back in the truck, and have internet access at work laters eamonn

  15. You have PM.. Why are you selling, i thought your truck looked awesome one of the best clones ...are you buying a SS? Eamonn
  16. some folks just don't appreciate a fantastic truck when they see one, probably a lightning owner who got beaten by a SS on his way to the show. should have told him the SS is much more exclusive that the fords, I'm sure i read on here that someone had got a classic truck/antique license plate because of the SS number built, i don't know the build figures (anyone help out with numbers) but would be good to see they guys face if you could put the numbers under his nose, it' like that over here a few of the "jobsworths" "I'm important coz i stand on the gate all day only let pre 72 cars and trucks in, one major club in the UK has this rule, and a guy on the gate got upset when i explained a fibreglass rod with a 4 pot engine made weeks ago would be welcome whereas a true future classic like my SS would not be... their loss there are only about 3 SS trucks in the UK 2 blue and my black one,"JCB" in his blue one and another guy who posted on here a while back but hasn't posted again, so you'd have to go a long way to see another.. the UK scene is not big enough to choose who's welcome or not just by the age of their truck/car, its time all enthusiasts stick together for the Good of the Hobby, no matter what you drive.. don't be Haters we all have a passion for our cars trucks bikes whether its a Classic truck, a new truck , a Plastic kit car/hot rod or a original ht rod or muscle car, hell even the ricers have a place in the scene, in my youth i drove cars which were in their day the equivalent of ricers today...
  17. peoples opinions on products would be good i have hundreds of part used polish wax wash n wax etc etc i tend to stick with a combo of mothers and mequires now, but still buy the lastes super product, this forum could save me some cash for mods lol
  18. wouldn't have been my choice but hell you only have yourself to please, and you did get the right color... black ones are faster ;) enjoy.. my wife said i could buy myself a brand new truck/car for my 50th birthday september next year.. i've considered the options new silverado the new Camaro even a cadillac (i am getting older lol ) but think i'll be keeping the SS for a few years or so.. not finished modding it yet..

  21. i'm back again guys, when the truck was off the road i didn't post much anywhere, too busy saving up and working to pay for new engine, then new transmission, now on engine 2 and trans 5 i did lurk a bit, but now trucks all fixed i'll be back posting .. when i'm not driving round and enjoying her, it was too long off the road but with a in truck computer i'll besurfing in more often lol why are you complaining about gas prices .... in the UK are you ready for this??????? i'll give you the price in liters as UK / US gallons are different size whereas liters are the same everywhere.. sitting comfortable £127.9p per liter or almost $2.50 a liter or $9.45 a US Gallon... how much are you paying??? Gonna be a revolution soon I dont drink alcohol anymore but toy give you an idea a bottle of Bud in a UK bar is about £2.50 to £3.00 or $5 to $6 It's fun here in the UK NOT.. All the best for now guys .. thanks for moving to correct section, i must have had a Blond moment lol
