  1. It won't cost more here in Iowa. Mid grade Ethanol blend 89-90 octane is cheaper than 87 octane here, it's the cheapest of all of the choices! The E85 will get the same tax breaks since it's a renewable Iowa resource (actually several midwestern states sell mid grade 15% Ethanol blend cheaper than the 87 octane crap). The Ethanol blends cost you people out of the corn belt more because your state charges more for the taxes on that gas. By the way, find a station here: http://www.e85fuel.com/database/search.php There are only 4 listed in Cali, but tons more are coming everywhere! The higher octane would give you a better margin of saftey with boost. I'd run it if at all possible... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah it may be cheaper than 87 where you are but it's not going to change the fact that you will spend more in the long run because you mileage is going to go way down.
  2. Without trying it and the more I think about it a heavier tortion bar wouldn't work in a 1/2 ton that you wanna keep lowered because it would almost half to lift it because you would need more weight to be as low as you are now. I also wouldn't see any benifit from it in an AWD truck.
  3. 15072933-LH (code YT) (Max torque 7267) 15072934-RH (code YT) (Max torque 7267) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Then they are the same as the WZ??? What gets those? So Mr P is looking for your tortion bars! I would like to try this if they fit. Length may also be an issue with changing tortion bars, probably not as much as diameter though. Although Mr P if his style HD tortion bars will fit in your truck you are going to have to drop it even more I would think since they are going to be stiffer. What is in an HD with the D-Max? I would think a heavier bar because the d-max weighs more than a big block chevy by like 100lbs or more. EDIT: If you could get a heavier tortion bar to work correctly in a 2wd SS or a VHO you could greatly benifit from it with weight transfer and a set of cal tracs!!!
  4. I mostly agree, I mean when you actually figure the running/operating costs per mile the ethanol blends do not fare well. If someone however figures out how to make ethanol a lot more cheaply (which may well be in the works according to rumors) then most mainstream consumers will switch over as it will be cheaper than petroleum per mile. I do hope that this would help those of us still running on petroleum since demand should fall and hopefully stabilize the price of premium fuel a bit. In theory Mr. P. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> GM just made the vehicles E-85 compatible so the hippies won't destroy anymore trucks and suv's
  5. I will look into that further. From memory I thought they were all alike, but my memory has been known to fail me before <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If I can remember I can check tomorrow at work since we have some HD lowering keys and I have my stock keys laying around somewhere.
  6. Running E-85 will cost you more. The only benefit is it's good for the environment. Think about it ethanol is alcohol and it generally takes twice as much alcohol to make the air:fuel ratio correct and here is California anyways it's not easy to find a station that has it and I have never even seen one. I have heard that it is about the same if not higher in price than premium. So getting worse gas milage and paying more sounds worthless.
  7. Keep in mind when you decided to buy another set of tortion bars that there is a chance they may not work for a coule reasons... The hex ends may not be clocked the same as your current ones and it's possible if the bar is bigger or smaller in diameter that the hex may change size as well.
  8. Never mind I just sent it back so they can send me the correct one.
  9. There is only an inch of rake in the truck there for you will be an inch lower in the rear.
  10. Your looking right at double that for the front setup. You can go with the 14" rotors and 2 piston calipers on the 2wd but I wouldn't reccomend it for the front.
  11. Great friends I hope you bought them all dinner and beers!
  12. I purchased this cluster. The problem is this is the picture I saw but I recieved an 06 style cluster with the different selector, which I wouldn't have a problem with if I like the face on this cluster. My problem is I want to put this face on it that I bought from Adam. With the Escalade chrome rings over it My question to anyone who has had an 06 cluster apart, is there a digital indicator under the numbers in the gauge face or are they just lights?
  13. 95% of the sites I have seen never show a picture of the actual product.
  14. The kit is pricy for fronts and rears but the kit I recommend and that I am running is from Bear. The front kit comes with 2 piece 15" drilled and slotted rotors with 6 piston calipers. The rear conversion comes with 04 style backing plates which use your existing hardwear the rears also come with 14" drilled and slotted rotors and bears PBR 2 piston calipers. The rears also come with braded lines from the hardline to the caliper and a bracket and a 3" hoseclamp to hold the bracket to the rearend. You will need to bend the hardline a bit to make it line up to where you put the bracket. You will also need to pull the rear cover off the diff and pull the pin out of the diff and pull the c-clips off of the axels to get the factory backing plates off. Then install the new backing plates and reinstall the axels. The front brakes are very basic to install. If you decide to install braded lines up front depending on the banjo fitting that mates to the caliper you may or may not need more of the copper washers to space out the banjo bolt. I had lines made and the banjo fitting was narrower than the factory one so I had to add two more washers so I have one washer between the caliper and the banjo the 3 between the banjo and the bolt. I was kind of afraid of doing this fearing that it may leak but I havn't had a problem. I would say if your going to spend the money go all the way with the 15's up front and not the 14's which only come with 2 piston calipers. Besides they designed the 15's with the 6 pistons to off set the fact that you are now running disk/disk and not disk/drum. They work very well and I have had them on for maybe 6 months now without an issue. Unless you have a connection to get the brakes cheaper they will probably run you somewhere around $4000. EDIT: You will also need e-brake cables for an 04 extended cab shortbed, even though the rearend in the 2wd is completely different they bolt right up. You may need to take a look under a truck which has disk brakes on it to see where the tabs on the cables go but there are already places for them on the larger rearend. Baer told me some of the stock cables into the drums will work and some wont. If you want to have the cables before you do the conversion take the drums off and take a look at the end of the cable inside the drum assembly. If there is a bead on the end of the cable then you need to order the cables if there is a suare loop on the end then they should work. I think the info I got from bear was more the fact that they were unsure and didn't really wanna tell me yes or no. I informed them of the part #'s so they should have them and they should be clear on what to do with the e-brake cables.
  15. It's all in the trans programing
  16. Probably ripped the cable line out with one of those hedges <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it's possible
  17. Yeah and we are no longer allowed to purchase vehicles from Mountain View because they seem to have a stick up their ass now. It's cool though he got the truck for $500 over invoice from Richard Hibbard.
  18. Wanna trade ex's? yours is already comming my way! I'll box mine up and ship her to ya
  19. It's pretty damn nice! The manual shifting is kinda cool but something that would take getting used to since it's kinda in a strange place. I guess on the steering wheel would be a better place. I said now lets see if we can get it to make over 500 hp!!! He is going to get to be a beta tester for our (Banks) new electronics for the LBZ in about 2 months or so.
  20. LOL yup atleast the tank is full!!! Actually it's not that bad on level ground the driveway makes it sit funny, the front also sits way higher depending on where I park in the driveway.
  21. LOL look at our shades or lack of color
  22. One thing I do know is that once you have been starved long enough eating food will kill you faster so I am sure at that point it was to late. I know it's sad to say, you might be thinking well he might have had a chance, I dought it in a third world country. This would be considered child abuse anywhere else.
  23. Ummm LOL yeah I just did it to see how far I could stuff the tires into the fenders the tire is on the inner fender so there is no way it could be driven that way. I have been kicking around putting the shockwaves for the Tahoe up front.
  24. I would hope those who don't have a good reason to leave their jobs get fired. JMO
