  1. To make a long story short, last Saturday I was sitting at home, waiting for my Fiance to get home at 6PM. On her way she called and as I was talking to her, I suddenly heard silence. Well she immediately called me back and said "I think I was just in a really bad accident." What worried me most is she had that confusion, a sign of bad things. Well this time the SS could not go fast enough. I had tunnel vision, I even beat the police there and I was far away. Regardless she is ok, the car is totalled, the girl was in the right lane of a 3 lane, one way and suddenly she decided to make an illegal left, crossing two lanes to do so, and that is where things went bad. She was sited and admitted guilt. So when the cop arrived he wouldn't jimmy the door, my girls purse and other possesions were in the car and it was running, locked. I told him to open it or I was, so I ended up punching through the passenger window. So now this girls insurance is starting to screw with us. Saying they will only give a rental for a week and the medical bills are starting, etc. Plus the car is a lease and I have to square that BS away also. I am going to be forced into getting my attorney involved. This sucks, but she is OK and that's all that matters to me! Ron
  2. $1.81 for regular here in Ohio, $2.01 premium. I almost fell over when it was $40 for a fill-up. Last winter that was $70+. Worst part is barrrel prices are way down, so mush so that gas should be cheaper than even $1.81, so as soon as they get "reason" to hike it, look out.
  3. Funny how supply and demand isn't driving the price these days unless it's in favor of the oil industry. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Supply and demand has been replaced by Profit and Profit. The supply and demand curve is gone ,obviously one can argue againsty this. But the reality is if demand drops, prices go up to control profits margins. If demand increases, prices go up to create excessive bonuses. The only way to control this price is to stop buying so much oil, yeah that's gonna happen!
  4. Sitting right on top of the cover with a breather coming off the heads to the pcv, right? Just popping the hose and dumping the sea foam through the pcv would clean it, no?
  5. Hello everyone, I was just going to run and grab a can of sea foam, since the truck has 59,000 miles and I am sure this has never been done. However, I am a little lost on the pcv valve location. I understand its on the drive side valve cover, near the fire wall. Is it sitting right on top of the cover with the breather tude going to the top of the heads? Sorry for just a basic question, but wanna make sure I stick this stuff into the right hose. For those who have done this, please inform/ a pic would be great. Thanks in advance.
  6. I agree, get it to the dealer if you still have warranty. Sounds to me like this could be a wheel bearing going (I had my right, front replaced at 52,000) or the dreaded front differential noise. Good luck.

    SSS vs Joe Gibbs

Nice kill, even though it's a fellow , but I must say I am surprised you "spanked" him. Figured the supercharged truck would take the SSS.

    Gas Mileage

the 03's have an external fuel filter (on the driver side frame rail.) The 04-05 I believe are in the tank. Also< I changed from stock plugs and wires to the Tailor Thundervolts and NGK plugs and it seemed to help a little in throttle response and mileage.
  9. That thing is awesome. You're right, less time cutting because after a few weeks your lawn will look more like a dirt track than a lawn....
  10. Sounds to me like the cop went further than he had authority to on this one. I don't blame them for taking the shooter's gun, but... not your sons. I would be angry as well. Did they sitation him for anything? I give police the utmost respect, but my attitude changes when they go to far... Good luck
  11. I'l agree with the stock L sounding mean. My brother in law's L sounds really nice and the stock catback performed very well, better than many aftermarket systems for that truck. I'm still stock but leaning towards Magnaflow. Just waiting, I might trade in for a TBSS. Very curious whether or not GM has gone with Borla. Does anyone know for sure? Ron
  12. Sorry to hear about the warranty running out. Have you tried another dealership possibly? Some are more willing than others to work with people. The dealer I purchased the truck from stunk, so I went to another dealer with the "I'm just not happy with the way they treated their customers" and got very good assistance from the second location. As for the question "is something going to break", I wonder the same thing. I just spoke with the dealer and he advised me to get hold of GM Customer service and open a case with them. I had two rebuilds in the last 11 months and am currently lining up for my third. The dealer's other comment was "Maybe we should just let it grenade and then replace the whole unit." Sounds like some great advise huh. Just what I want, to be towing my $40K truck. I am very frustrated as well and am not going to let it "grenade." They can rebuild it till they are blue in the face now, cause I'm getting really annoyed with this issue. We'll see, good luck and let us know if you get anywhere. Ron
  13. CaboRob: FWIW I have had a few rebuilds on the front differential. One time I brought the truck in and the whining was the hub, but like Mr. P stated, that issue would be evident going straight. You definitely have a tore up front diff but like other said, play along or be willing to shell out the cash. I hate the "if you're wrong it's your expense" attitude, but everyone covers themselves anymore. Good luck.
  14. 17 years of trials and tribulations. Sounds like you're on the right track now, that's funny.
  15. I get 13 to 14 City and 17 to 18 on the highway. A tune would add maybe 1.5 MPG on the Highway (Lean cruuise mode.) I just rant 800 miles to Virginia and back at around 72 to 75 MPH and got 16.5. That's not bad for not babying it up and down those hills. Plus I have a small exhaust leak so that isn't helping anything. They are not trucks for achievign good gas mileage, but do much better than most equivilants.
  16. SSThunder sold his previous CAI induction to me, so I will gladly vouch for his credibility. By the way, good times on the stock truck!
  17. That's what I am hoping for. Thanks everyone for the response, I just assume it was a glitch and deal with it when they totally quit working.
  18. Well to make a story short, I was out shopping, jumped in the truck and sat there with the key "on" but the truck not running. So after a minute or so, I turn the truck on and started off down the road. The first thing I noticed is the truck seemed to be running cold, and running at 0 RPM's, going 0 MPH, with 0 Oil Pressure... I think you get the idea, they weren't working at all, none of the gauges. It really spooked me. I immeditaly pulled over, shut the truck off, and once restarted it was fine and has been so for days. I don't feel like playing dealer run around with the extended warranty. Is there any ideas on what could have caused this? Just a PCM brain fart, or what? A little input would really help, if there is any to offer. Thanks in advance!
  19. we should start to check this out and post some part #'s and prices. What other benfits would come from getting a new rear diff? added durability? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This would be a very good idea. I personally don't worry about the rear differential so much, but a true fix to the front would be nice. BmanSS: Thanks for the info, I am going to contact the dealership and tell them what they need to do next.
  20. I've had two complete rebuilds of the front diff in the last 10 months. Last time was a month ago and the grind is back. I have a decent dealer, but he is very frustrated with my truck right now, so I wish you better luck than I. I've read where some had the entire differential replaced with a new unit to resolve the noise. That will be my next attempt. I agree with others, let them mess with the hubs if they want to, that's their headache. Either way, good luck. Mr. P, can you elaborate a little on the real way to fix this issue? I love the truck, but can't take this differential issue any longer. Any help is appreciated.

    G35

I read somewhere the six speed will quicken the car almost 1/2 second in the 1/4 and sedan -vs- coupe matters a little due to weight. Fortunately I ran the same G35 coupe with my previous vehicle (Pontiac Grand Prix GTP) and then again with the SS (totally stock). He hurt my GTP in the top of second, I faired pretty well till then. I got a good jump in the SS from a red light and pretty much held the truck lead through second gear and had to slow down. They're pretty quick cars if driven properly. Now, i recently read not only have they bumped up a little over 300 horses via a dual air intake, but can also be purchased with AWD. That's another ball game. Congrats on the kills either way!
  22. I've had two of these monster try me lately. I killed the first so bad I had to give the second one a try to see if it would be different, nope. Plus, I'm pretty much stock. oh and nice kill on the ford!
  23. I had the same problem as well. The dealer replaced the control module. Mine would act up off and on until it it just bailed.
  24. ahhh, you only have a 1000RR, with juice he'll get you too <{POST_SNAPBACK}> so you think with juice he'll run 10's then huh? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Obviously I am blowing steam on that one. Is that what your 1000 will do? I used to ride a little and knew a guy with one, but never road it. Don't like borrowing others toys, they always seem to break when I do...
  25. Yes, even with a tune and cai the TBSS should still beat the SS pretty easily. Don't know how the guy could have lost, but good kill!
