  1. Well i finally finished putting everything back together started the engine and it fired right up with no valvetrain noise. but my oil pressure is low due to what i think is the worn bearings. what do you guys think? heres the video i recorded after it warmed up. WHATS YOUR OPINION?
  2. I know. So does this mean its a complete rebuild? And that's something I can't do myself. anybody know any one in socal that is trust worthy enough?
  3. Well of course my luck. Nothing goes as expected. Lol I stuck the borescope and found some small pieces of what looks like melted copper. I tried getting it out but its impossible. What's the chances of the truck not running after I put it back together? I'm gonna put the pan on right now but I'm really discouraged right about now. Don't know if its gonna hold up after I put it all back and drive it.
  4. Well I'm gonna try and borrow my friends Snap-on borescope. Maybe I can see the inlet pipe and make sure it is not being plugged up. What do u guys suggest? I was also thinking maybe spray some Carb cleaner down the pipe with the oil pan plug off so it can drain out.
  5. Is there a way to clean the pick up tube? Just want to make sure it doesn't have any crap plugging it up.
  6. im considering getting one. now that i have the stock one out because im changing the oil pump. but is it really worth it? What site can i go and get one?
  7. What about the oil pump. on the opposite side of where the pick up tube goes in, i guess its the out put side of the pump, does it have an o-ring or does it just mount up to the block surface to surface?
  8. Ok so i finally had time to finish dissasembly today. took the oil pump off and i was looking at the timing chain. it seems like it has a good amount of play to it. I just dont know if its normal. heres a video.

Well i started tearing into the truck once i got home. i drained the oil and noticed there was very fine metal shavings stuck to the oil drain plug. didnt take off the filter cuz i forgot my filter wrench but will do so tomorrow. what type of pulley puller do you guys use to pull the crank pulley? i had a puller but its the type that you screw in three bolts and you begin to pull it out. this pulley doesnt have those holes to bolt in? my snap-on tool guy is coming down tomorrow, what do you guys suggest?
  10. Fireman that's what I thought at first was wrong but when I began to hear the ticking of the valve train that's when I knew the oil wasn't circulating anymore hence the no oil pressure warning. What should I look for after I take off the pump? What type of wear? I'm going to replace it with the stock ls6 and I'm just going to change the timing chain and sprockets might as well too.

  12. First off sprayed99 thanx for this great info. I will begin teardown process today. Have just a couple questions though. The ls2 timing chain on the Texas speed site.. should I get the adjustable double roller or the single non adjustable. What do u guys suggest? What's the dealer part number for the ls2 chain?
  13. So today I started up my truck 05' ss and there was no oil pressure. The warning chime kept going off so I raised rpm and the pressure finally went up. There was no knocking g or valve noise of any kind. The whole time driving oil pressure kept going down whenever rpms dropped due to slow traffic and then picked right up once I got going again. I got to work turned off the truck let it sit for ten minutes then started it. And again no oil pressure. Raised rpms but this time oil pressure did not go up and valves started ticking and knocking so I turned it off as soon as it started doing that. Any ideas What it might be? I haven't done an oil change in like 5k miles. Could it possibly be plugged oil filter? Or bad oil pump?

  15. Well i dont believe its the tires cuz i rotated them and it still pulled. its not a brake related problem because it wont pull like that. its just while driving. i also believe it might be the tie rods and idler. cuz i can rock them back and forth with my hand with almost no resistance.

Well it seems like my SS has took a turn for the worst. in this past two weeks. it pulls to the right really bad. i need to hold the steering wheel to the left when im driving straight. if i let go it pulls to the right bad. i checked all the tire pressures. theyre fine. tires have slight inside wear up front. so i rotated the tires and it still pulls. ball joints are fine no play. rotors ok. the tie rods have a little bit of play. Im thinking iot might be the tie rods, pitman arm , and the other arm opposite side of the pitman. i have 90k miles and never replaced shocks. bump stop on the driver side is torn like its been hitting hard. I really need all your suggestiions plz thanx.
  17. More than likely its your water pump. i just replaced mine this past weekend. its really simple only six bolts for the water pump and three for the tensioner and two for the thermostat housing. Mine was the same way until it got worse and worse and BANG it gave out and leaked alot. I also had a small leak few moths back and it turned out to be the lower radiator hose. I have 80k miles on mine.
  18. im going to install a new stock throttle body ony my 05 ss and it came with a paper saying that after installing the new part i need to perform a relearn procedure. Can anyone help me out with a step by step?
  19. She has 66000 miles. it leaks fluid like a mutha! i add fluid everyday. So JAYMZ u think its gonna need a new bearing? i was thinking of replacing the bushing, but for the bearing i think i need to open up the whole case huh?
  20. well today as i was getting into my truck i noticed a giant puddle under my truck, so i got down to see what was up and i seen that the transfer cases rear seal was leaking. i changed the fluid topped it off and i also noticed that the drive shaft coming out to the rear has some play. i can move it up and down. any suggestions? is it rebuildable or just reaplce the whole unit?
  21. its actually more like a humming noise. like when something is out of balance. how hard is it to replace the bearings and races. if its a bearing i think it might be the pinion gears bearing or what do you guys think? would the actual lsd go bad? the ring and pinion gears look fine no unsual markings.
  22. well for th past couple months it seems like my rear diff has been getting worse and worse. this past weekend i took a drive down to san diego and when i would go over 80 mph it seems to have a humming effect coming from the rear of the truck. it also has a strong buzzing with it. once i back down from 80 then it kinda goes aaway. the higher the speed the louder it gets and the more vibration i feel. i suggestions? here are some pics from yesterday when i removed the cover. there where no big chuinks of metal just this stuff. ring and pinion gears look fine no missing teeth. just a glob of metal
