  1. Holy crap, that is exactly what happened to my V2 head! I actually opened it after the first fix and the smaller bearings were both chewed to shit and he crimped the casing o ring completely flat. I sent it back to him disassembled and he replaced the bearings and told me to send it back if there are any problems without opening it....scam perhaps. This last fix lasted about 1000 miles. Thank good it didn't fail in Galveston, TX about 250 miles from home. However, after the impeller shaft came lose it set the impeller out of round. This time I stopped it before it exploded. And to make matters worse-you are right good damn thing I had an intercooler. I found shrapnel (from impeller), oil, seal material....and packing peanuts in my intercooler! WTFO! I am fed up frustrated and looking to send it somewhere else. These heads have never sounded right.

  2. I am trying to figure this out. He emailed me yesterday and said my 2.7" pulley might be over spinning the Vortech V2 head. He wanted me to check and see if my oil feed (the V2 is externally fed) drops in the 4k-5k range...I hardly ever get it that high anyway so I dont think that is the problem. Daily driving ranges from 1800-2200 rpms. I have the V1 T-trim on there now...its loud but doesn't sound like it is going to chew up anything. I have actually read some pretty harsh critiques from other websites about this guy. Wish I would have known before going to him.

  3. Kim, I am sorry for your loss. I, too, recently lost my dad and it was a horrible, yet cleansing experience. In that your dad is now in a better place. Talking about the experience is cleansing as well. He sounds like a great guy. I will pray for you and your family.

  4. Man I just rolled through Houston last week to spend the weekend in Galveston, TX! About a 4-5 hour drive from Fort Hood, TX. Saw about 100 corvettes that weekend rolling down the main strip on the beach. IT was pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I just chewed up an impeller on my V2 S-trim or I would come down. Cant chance my V1 T-trim SC head going out. There are 4-5 SSS here at FT Hood. Haven't met any yet.

  5. Hello all, I am at my wits end here. V2 head chewed another impeller and god knows what else inside the casing. I got the V2 fixed by Supercharger Rebuild.com (guy name is Todd). Cost me around $975 for a complete rebuild. got it back in 5 days. After about a week it started making noise and I opened it to find the smaller bearing seals (front and back) were chewed up and returned it for another $280 to get that replaced. Back in a week and now less than a thousand mile (and no WOT) later I chew up another impeller.

The system is using a ATI Dampener and a 2.7 8-rib belt (basically CHASE04 stuff without NOS), and 60lb injectors. Is the pulley too small? I just cant figure it and dont want to send it back to Vortech because of all the drama I hear coming from that shop. So in short my V2 has chewed up two impellers in a matter of weeks and 2-4 bearings. My V1 has not chewed up an impeller [yet]. I am down to the V1 head and weird sounds are freaking me the hell out, it whines pretty loud and makes the belts squeak. If I lose that one I lose the truck until I get the other replaced or fixed.

Any ideas, or any other shops that will rebuild/fix these Vortechs? Thanks in advance.

  6. Ha I thought the same thing when I saw the name...Its more like you can only aspire to live up to Mr.P standards...g/l with ur search

Me too. Until I saw his post count, sig, etc. One thing I like about this site is user "help" new guys and dont bash them. "Mr. P" (capital letter P) has a PhD in the art and science of SS. He has helped me out many times...Thats what everyone meant Mr. p. Your good among these guys...

  7. I am thinking of buying a Hypertech Hyperpack. I need to know what might work better and cheaper if possible but i also need to be able to go back to stock if something happens so my warrenty isnt screwed.

    Thanks to all that reply

If you decide to buy the Hypertech Hyperpac, I have one that I am no longer using. With the Vortech supercharger I had to buy a Diablo programmer but ended up with an HP Tune. I had it about 6 weeks. They run around $479. PM me to talk price.

  8. yes it happend in front of my house. those punks r bold! i had to leave my truck in front of my house b/c i had to get it towed b/c my truck broke down. the one time i leave it in front of my house i get jacked!

If you have filed a police report be sure to let them know that a Wrecker towed your vehicle to your house. Here in Texas some wreckers are actually getting the friends to steal tires. HE knows, as well as you do. That the truck wasn't going anywhere. I want to think we can trust people...but you just cant. I would be interested to see the criminal history on the wrecker. My job as a Crime Intelligence Analyst has my intuition saying he might have had something to do with it. Just my two cents.

    Good luck.

  9. I also remember about two weeks before Circuit City closed (they had just moved into a new store called "The City" 2months prior) that a clerk was checking IDs for everything. To my surprise, the littlest sweetest old lady (over 60) was forced to go back out to her car, it was raining, to produce ID for a video game for her grandchild. I was like are you freaking kidding me??? She left (no purchase), I left and the guy behind me left! IT was freaking crazy...I knew they were closing down because I had a PhD comprehensive exam with Circuit City (once a great company) as a topic went crashing to the dust. Now I do my business at Best Buy...Circuit City's building is now a factory furniture store....what comes around goes around.

  10. www.superchargerrebuild.com if anyone is interested. And no I am not working for them.

Took about one week to get it back. Took them only 2 days to fix. I would have gotten it back in 5 days if it wasn't for FEDEX deciding on all days to attempt delivery at 3 pm, when they usually deliver in our area at 7pm. Installed ABEC-7 bearings, seals and impeller for a little less than $1000. Rumors had it that Vortech might not have fixed it and try to give you credit towards new. I highly recommend these guys!

  11. For my fellow SS brothers and sisters. Has anyone heard of www.superchargerrebuild.com? My buddy, who has a badass procharged Trans Am, gave me this POC and their pricing is much better than Vortech is probably going to charge for a complete overhaul. Rumor of the boards is that Vortech will quote a price way out of range and offer to keep the item when you wont pay. These guys out of Waxahachie, TX have a laundry list of prices.

Just wondering if anyone has had work done there recently.

    Thanks.

  12. Actually, I was all over the place with regard to AFR on the V-2. Everytime I would get on it, it would drop into the 9-12 range, it would settle out and then I would get off and it would sky rocket (20-75 or higher), sound like it would stutter and then settle out in the 14-15 again.

The T-trim does not feel like that at all. Even shift is smoother and more firm...crazy, I know. I am shipping the V-2 out this week.

  13. I love this site. I took some advice from this site to remove the pulley from the V-2 and put it onto the V-1 and am back in business. A cheap $5.00 pulley puller and a small torch was all that was needed. I almost bought a $150 pulley remover! The V-1 is running better and harder than the V-2. Shifts are cleaner, etc. I thought when Chase said it was in need of a rebuild that it would remain a paperweight. Now I can ship out the V-2 and once it gets back ship the V-1 out. So good news story for this weekend. Thanks for everyones help on the threads!

  14. Thanks, SS SILV. Its been an all around rough week. Chase, oil feed were good. It was always running a little loud. Finally, got it tuned in and it was awesome. Stayed at the Austin Airport for about a week ran great for about 35 miles and sounded like my fans went into hyperdrive and then the sounds of grinding. I still have the V1 T-Trim but never got it serviced. Are you suggesting I try it for the few days until the V2 is back? I actually never thought of that. The exchange would only take a few minutes. Thanks, I will try that.

  15. I knew that would get your attention. My truck's supercharger. I was driving back from Austin, TX after returning from my Dad's Funeral last Thursday in Indiana and I heard a godawful noise coming from the engine. A few miles later a drop in power and more grinding. Got it home and pulled the compressor and to my surprise I sheared nearly ever fin on the "impeller"- I think that's what you call it. So my Vortech V2 is off to Vortech for a fix, I hope.

What would make a closed system grind apart like that? I know I was taking my chances with a used system but thought I was being careful.

  16. I agree completely with you. With over 21 years under my Army belt it angers me greatly to see this happen, I retired in 2007 as an E-8. In 2005, in preparation for my second and last tour to Iraq we were in JRTC (FT Polk, La) and one of our old soldier (E-4 actually) came to us "after jumping into North Iraq." Had the combat jump on his jump wings to prove it, we fellow paratroopers were very jealous-even though it was a secure LZ. He wore these wings for nearly two years before he was met by an Army advisor (an E-6) that rode the same aircraft with him...all the way to the ground. He never jumped with the paratroopers. I and this SSG nearly killed him. All he got was an Article 15 (45 days extra duty, restiction and we took some pay from him...that was it!). They took away his wings as well. Freaking pitiful if you ask me. Thanks for the link. I have forwarded it to my work for inspiration.

Thanks again for your service. I know you do not hear it enough.
