  1. just put on my upgrades on saturday, noticeable difference in my gas mileage and great improvement on performance, sounds great (i know someone asked about sound from cai), it really sounds like its got a pair now   and that ram air scoop really makes for a nice run on the highway or any 55+ mph driving. it rides out on the highway now!

as for the tbs, don't know if it's doing much for me, haven't really read anything great about them anyway. more on that later, it does make a cool turbo noise though  :dupe:

Did you have any issues installing the scoop? Mine rubs against my right tire when turning right? Any help would be great.

  2. See I was  noce guy and decided to run the last race on our best times to make it fare and seem to break out of my time while spinning off the line :banghead: I even let off the button when I was even with him. That could have been a good 12sec run :D  It was fun, I'm just glad nothing broke being that far from home :jester:

Hey that was a bad ass ride. A compassionate assassin?? Did I hear you correctly? In the words of Mortal Combat.."FINISH HIM!!!"

It was great meeting you all. ONE WEEK TO RETIREMENT!!! :flag:

  3. Thanks for posting the link. I am still a cherry on this site.

We did find a few other sites that have information about the weekend. it follows below. We eventually had Channel 2 and 5 out of Nashville into our home the morning of Thanksgiving. These clips aired about 11:00 pm. Some of the family members including myself do not remember much of that night due to the Crown, Coronas and other adult beverages served after dinner :cheers::cheers: .

It was a good time. The next day her parents received a Freedom Salute Certificate of Achievement. We made the deal a little bigger than most would. However, any Soldier, can order these for spouses, veterans, parents or Active/Reserve/National Guard soldiers. I am not sure if my other Brothers in Arms have the same program. I would not be surprised if they did not.

  4. Hello all, I would first like to say I hope everyone has a very nice and safe Thanksgiving. Mine will be especially important because my wife just returned from a year deployment to Iraq. Prior to the deplaning ceremony Network TV and various local and national papers got a hold of the fact that My wife( a physician's assistant), her brother (a flight medic), and I were deployed for a year together, yet not so close. Her other brother a CPT in the Reserve deployed to Afghanistan during my first deployment to Iraq in 03.

So among the newspaper reporters were AP, Christian Science Monitor, Clarksville Leaf Chronicle, LA Times (my wife and her family are from Gardena), CBS and FOX were there. So as you can tell when my wife was expecting a couple of quiet days with family has been anything but. This morning we were shown on ABC's Good Morning America. For anyone interested, all the articles and video can be located on the net. Just Google Vasquez reunion. So a few days of fame to get the word out that families also deploy and can survive and reunite until the next call to duty.

I for one will be clearing the military within the next few days and retiring after 21 years, 7 months, on my 40th birthday...SWEET!. I will work as a consultant, contractor or other federal government style job. I hope everyone stays safe this weekend.

  5. But you just have a little guy for an engine, so it won't sound the same as the 6.0.

 thanks that made me feel good. lol o well ill just have to swap enines from my moms escalade into this one day..

Be careful if you decide to buy the SS Scoop that attaches to the bottom opening, if it is not installed exactly right your right tire will rub on the wheel well casing, or the tube itself, or the clamp :banghead: . I spent most of a morning moving, adjusting, screwing and unscrewing clamps to get the alignment just right. Oh another thing the scoop intake looks like it will fit perfectly behind the right lower vent---but doesn't. Just some words of wisdom.

On the bright side, I immediately noticed nice gains with the scoop, kind of freaks me out in wet weather, because the truck sounds better in colder, wetter weather which we have had our fair share of here in Fort Campbell, KY  .

  6. Got mine through the cable company free, comes w. their HiDef cable box.

DirectV does the same thing. I figured that out when they came in to install my new dish and I found the HDMI cable I bought for the system hidden in one of my back shelves. Sneaky bastard. So I took my Monster Cable HDMI cable back to Best buy and got $149 back.

I will never go back from HD.

  7. Silver birch bitches.... keepin it classy

I like black too, that was my first choice but like someone else said the silver birch was there and had the right price

that is also the reason I got the Silver-birch. the black one they had in Tucson was cloth interior and something else it did not have. Oh yeah, it had those silver rims not Chrome. Beside Silver-Birch looks great with a light coat of Texas-Georgia-Tennessee dust on it :banghead: .

  8. I am with you. I just spent Saturday with four blue ones at the Vette City get together. They were all nice, I was envious. I am partial to Silver-birch for obvious reasons. It singled me out in the crowd, besides I felt like the Pied Piper all the kids wanted to ride with me???

However, the old saying goes you always like what you dont have. Or is it if you ate Filet Mignon all the time you sometimes would get a hankering for a hamburger :puke: ? Just kidding you blue guys.

  9. Jim, great job setting this up. It was a blast. I also wished I could have stayed for the track but promises to deployed wife are just that. A little someone here is still talking about your 8 y/o boy. I am giving here such a hard time- I love it now. Definitely will hate it in 10-12 years (probably sooner if I cant get her into a convent, first! ).

Let me tell you about a small world. Went onto post to make an appointment for my last Physical in the Army :flag: . I am talking to the VA adminstrator and in small talked noticed he races camaroes. He was at the track and the corvette museum. He asked which one I had and said the Silver one. HE noticed it was not among the blues and blacks that raced on Sunday. So there you have it. I thought that was pretty cool. HE called you all beasts. HE runs 1/8 mile and the trucks were doing 1/4s. He noticed and exceptionally nice run by a black one. Was that Bad2 or Puffer?

When my wife gets back next week from Iraq, we could do the track thing :driving: later down the road with a bunch of you KY/TN types and we dont have to call it anything. We could call it my retirement party  .

    Thanks again. 101st Air Assault.

  10. Your shirt will be with J.Yates. I attempted to send this nearly an hour ago. I am staying at the Drury Inn ( a relatively expensive hotel) and it is way to expensive for me to work my way into their Network to be able to connect to the net. It should be plug and play and for the price almost every other hotel is wireless. WTF?? I am Pi$$ed  . I am having a beer and calming down. I will be fine tomorrow.

The Outback here is the shit, the highlight so far.

Jim, did anyone know that they are having a high school band competition in this town? I did not know what was going on. The high school kids were not a problem until all these girls started running around in their bikini's and Elisa (my 6 y/o) said I dont think I want to go to high school. It was sooo cute. "AND THAN" a high school boy about a buck o' five wasn't paying attention in the elevator and ran into me. It shocked me so much that I dropped him and than helped him up. Shit, I professed PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). Just kidding. We said he lost his balance as one of his buddies said that old man took you down. "I am not old.!!!"

  11. TawSS04 and I toured the corvette plant today man you guys missed it it was great.  See you all tomorrow I got all the badges today so drive safe and see ya in the morn crackerbarrel exit 22 if possible.  ?'s call me I will be in town tonight (270)847-9590.  Jim

I hope I was good on the numbers. Going to get them now. I will bring stickers and stuff for those I miss. I will give you a call tonight when I get in the room.

    Later, Mark.

  12. I parked beside a bad @$$ Red SS in Clarksville, TN at the Ruby Tuesday on 41A last night (2 NOV 06). It had a Red SS in the Bowtie, Chroming Flaming door handles, sweet wheels and a cowl hood. Did not recognize it as a local ride. There are a hand full of the Intimidators (06s) running around but not red ones. I think I have seen only a red one (I think his name is Gary), a blue one, a couple of black ones and one Silver Birch SS (Carpenter's work truck??).

  13. haha drako...its rollin' on 15's

I have had mine about 16 months and I have 10,000 miles on it. Sounds okay until you take into consideration I was in Iraq for 11.5 of those months. So in essence I have put 10,000 miles on it in 4 1/2 months. I guess that sucks. 11.5 months in the gargage helped immensely. :flag:

Okay, I bought it in Arizona and took it back to FT Campbell, KY =1800 miles, Georgia roundtrip 600+ ea trip =1300 miles so about 3100 of these miles have been solid highway miles. Okay, how does 30 miles a day minimum highway to get to/from work sound. So that can add up to alot of highway miles. I am not worried. I am so glad premium is $2.25 a gallon, I remember when it got up to $3.55 when I was back on leave.

  14. Dont forget that we set our clocks back this last weekend so it is 9:30 here and I dont know what time you guys have.I just dont want no one to be late.  Call me if you need to figure it out.  Thanks Jim(270)847-9590.

Our posts must be EST (Eastern Standard Time). We all should be caught up by now.

By the way, I think I saw one of our fellow SS brothers this evening in Clarksville, TN at the Ruby Tuesday on 41A. First time I saw him. He had a Red 04/05, red SS emblazoned on the Bowtie, flaming chrome door handles, nice rims and a cowl hood. My little girl said it looked nicer than mine and when was mine going to look as nice :banghead: ....I think she will fit in fine this weekend.

  15. I am booked at the Drury Inn. I will be there around 7:00 pm. My cell is 931-249-6963. I searched the Internet (Travelocity, Expedia) and found five hotels with vacancies (Drury Inn($$$), Best Value Inn ($), Courtyard by Marriot ($$$$$), Red Roof ($$$), Fairfield Inn and Country Hearth. Where $ equals $35 increments. Hope this helps anyone. Unsure what is available for Saturday night. I might extend my stay. Dependent on my little princess and how she will feel after hanging out with the guys. Her mom is still deployed so I have the luxury of doing what Daddy wants to do. My wife is cool with it.

Instead of booking on the Internet, I usually call saying I saw an available unit and price on the Internet and they give me the same rate. :flag:

  16. See everyone Saturday and/ or sunday.  Have a safe trip.  Jim.

I wasn't able to order the silverado.com t-shirt last year, as you recall I was indisposed. Anyway, here is the roll-up for shirts I will get them tomorrow. I have a relative working at the US CAV plus I will get a good deal on the number of shirts I am getting.

    Yates: 1-2x, 2-S(6,8)

    Bad2: 1-3x, 2-xl, 1-S(7)

Bowtie: 1-2x, 2-S(3,5 right?) if so probably an XS for the 3 and 5. Will get Smalls they can grow into them

    SSR: 1-2x, 1-xl

    SS Thunder: 1-L

    Chevyman23: 1-L

As for housing, I was hoping to get a room down there tomorrow night. I will work my magic and see how it goes. :flag:

  17. Just got back from a road trip from FT Campbell, KY to Carrollton, GA an hour ago and noticed a few things on the road.

    1) The SS had no problems towing a 98 Cavalier to my parents place and actually maintained 14+ MPG. I only have the Volant CAI and Corsa Touring as MODs, so do not really know what my MPG "SHOULD" be. The only problem was keeping it slow.

    2) First time I ever noticed that GSP (Georgia State Police) use lasers for traffic control. I picked it up near Douglasville traveling east of I-20. Being a soldier, it wasn't difficult seeing him hiding between the overpass sign and a tree (pretty ingenious really) but the biggest thing was my radar detector picked it up well in advance. However, I was moving in a large body of traffic and all of us were doing in excess of 80MPH (70MPH limit). Just a headups.

Normally if a laser hits the sensor and you are alone-means you are a done deal. He has you dead. But in traffic...Who knows.

  18. Yates, so far I see Three 2Xs (You, Bowtie, SSR-SSS), 1X (SSR-SSS), 1 XS (Yates 5y/o), 3 smalls (Yates 8 y/o and Bowties 2 boys).

Last call will be Wednesday, 1 NOVEMBER 2006. I will bring my girl Friday evening. I will have my computer with me and will check it for updates that evening.

This ought to be fun, my first of many firsts. Air Assault!! :flag:

  19. FT Campbell is in both Kentucky and Tennessee. Postal says it is Kentucky, yet there are stateline signs through the southern half of Campbell. I have only seen 5-6 SSS around here, some new Intimidators, and many Trailblazer SS's. Many recent purchases from getting back from the war. I am the only Silver Birch, so far (and I almost got a black one).

I live in Clarksville, TN. However, my across the street neighbor has a fenceline separating his Tennessee backyard from Kentucky. That view lends itself to a beautiful country pasture with a barn, silo and plenty of cattle.

  20. No it is not too late I bought a few extra badges just in case someone would want to come.  We are going to try to meet Saturday morning at cracker barrel at 8:00 if you can make it if not we will meet at the museum around 11:00. As far as sizes all I would know is for myself and my 2 boys.  I know one guy has a 15 and a 5 yr old.  and another has 2 boys coming  you may just ask on this thread if they are interested.  I would take a 2x and my boys are 5 and 8 yrs old dont know how small or large you can get.  Anyway come on down we would love to have you I think you will be the only silver birch coming.  Thanks Jim

Well guys, the offer is out there. I will need sizes for you and your passengers. I have Yates and his boys sizes. Should be no problem. I will bring what I can. We will come down the night before and stay somewhere that has a pool-Elisa loves to test her freshly required swimming skills (scares the hell out of me if you ask me.)

  21. J. Yates is it too late to get in on this? I just found this forum (after clicking on recent messages), I know your deadline was yesterday. I have an SS, am stationed out of FT Campbell, KY, which is 45 miles North of Nashville and about 60ish from Bowling Green. We have a training area up there that we "Air Assault" to all the time when we are not fighting in Iraq. I would only be able to come on Saturday because I have my six year old little girl with me, wife would kill me if I took her to the track. Wife is still deployed to Iraq and I just got back. I think my little one would get a kick out of seeing so many trucks like her Daddy's. She would dig the museum for a spell. After that it is up to you all. She loves drives in the truck and I need to get her out of town more (that would be my truck).

Let me know, if I could get numbers and sizes I could probably round up some 101st Airborne Division T-Shirts and memorabilia that you could give out.

If the answer is "Hell, yes you can get in," I will have my little one and me. If it is too late I know we could just drive up there and meet some of you guys and find something else to do.

  22. The JL Audio 500/1 is a one channel amp pushing 400 watts. As for the cleansweep, it has come to my attention that the Autoshop on FT Campbell, jacked up the price of the Cleansweep so the 25% discount wouldn't kill them. It lists at Audio Specialists of Hopkinsville, KY for $399 (I still beat it with the 25% discount though). The Cleansweep comes in various styles with the CL 441DSP running the price I mentioned.

  23. Sorry if this is not in the right forum area. I jsut wanted it to be seen quickly for some advice.

So there I was trying diligently to install the Stealthbox, JL Audio 500/1 Amp and CleanSweep when I ran into a few dilemmas. First, after doing plenty of research on this website (thanks guys), I felt I was ready to install these pieces of audio equipment. First, to install the stealthbox under the passenger rear seat will require dropping the heat shroud that protects the bottom of the truck from the heat from the exhaust (not an easy task). Second, once I got access to the wire cluster coming out of the amplifier I was further stumped. So I took it to an Audio Specialist in Hopkinsville, KY just outside of FT Campbell, KY. A place that boasts two of the top 100 installers in the country. There he basically told me that I wasted my money on the Cleansweep unless I am going to change all the Bose speakers to something better. He called them $12 GM speakers. Best $12 speakers I have heard recently.

Anyway, should I go with better speakers to use the Cleansweep (a $450 dollar paperweight right now) I cant complain I got a 25% discount and no sales tax. He said ZRs are too pricey and I can get you the same or better sound from some Boston Acoustics. What is up with an authorized JL Audio installer "shooting me straight?" He said tomorrow he will hook me up with a LOC with a power switch to the subs, if I dont need the bass. That will allow me to use all the steering wheel controls and allow me to upgrade later if I so choose.
