  1. Just talked to my body guy after reading your posts and he says that the 20's are clearing no problem now and the 22's should be ok. Was a little stressed after seeing that. Thanks guys. Truck is looking awesome but damnit its been over 2 months and I want my baby back!
  2. My body shop still has my truck and last week I went in to check out the progress. Since I have a standard 2004 Silverado and am having the front end changed over to the OEM SS front end I expect a few issues but there is almost no clearance between the bumper and my 20" snow wheels and tires. They don't even think they wheels can turn without rubbing. WTF? There is almost no difference between the stock and the SS when it comes to this area. The side front quarter panel/fender/whatever you call it is the same for an SS as it is for the Silverado so why is the bumper so much farther back and how am I going to get my daily driver 22's back on? Do you guys have to modify something to get bigger wheels to fit? I didn't when I put on 22's before the conversion.
  3. First time I bled my brakes I did a terrible job and finally took it to "The Brake Team" near my house. They did it for $50 in about 10 minutes. Next time I spent the $25 on speed bleeder valves and about $40 on one of the cheaper vacuum bleeder kits and did it myself and got it done in about 20 minutes with no problems.
  4. When I changed my brakes and wheels I started getting the service brake system alarm. Finally got it regularly enough I took it in to the dealer. They said it was my speed sensors on the transmission. Just as they were about to pull both sensors the regional GM guy walked through service and seeing the mods on my truck told them stop now he changed too much and its out of warranty. My service guy has helped me for years and made sure it only showed up in that dealer's system and not GM's nation wide. He told me to watch the speedometer for fluctuations and the alarm going off when that happens. Sure enough when I've been on the road a long time, am going up hill, and hit the gas the needle would flutter back & forth about 10 mph and then the alarm would go off. He said its not a big deal but I could pull the sensors and replace them myself but I've got no clue which one, where it is, etc.
  5. Anyone have the little strip of cladding/molding that runs along the bottom of the tailgate to connect the edges of the rear fender cladding? Thanks, Chris
  6. It it weren't in another state As a side note if you guys ever need to ship big things like bumpers etc there is a website called frieghtquote.com that makes it very easy to do. It cost me $178 bucks with insurance to ship the entire bumper assembly from CA to OR but it was still a better deal by far than buying only part of what I needed OEM locally.
  7. Thanks for all the help guys. I found an SS to look at this weekend and although it would be nice to get all the cladding the wrecking yard didn't have all of them but at $100 a piece would not have been bad had they all been there. I've now got the rear pieces and the entire bumper assembly on their way but he didn't have the bottom of the tailgate cladding so I'm trying to find that. If anyone knows where I can score that piece I'd appreciate it. Thanks again and I'll post pics when I finally get my damned truck back. Been almost two months!
  8. The cost is going to start getting really expensive though from the wrecking yard. They want $100 a piece just for the very rear cladding behind the wheel wells back to the bumper. I'm scared what he'd want for the rest and I do have the extended cab so I'd need a lot of cladding.
  9. Well thanks for raining on my parade guys Anyone know a part number for the Stylin rear bumper? I couldn't find it. I did find roll pans galore but no bumpers. Do they may roll pans that do not require any modification of the current hitch and spare tire etc? A roll pan will definitely be cheaper than what I'd need to get off the wrecking guy.
  10. Ok, the guy at the yard in response to asking what other molding are there had this to say: "THERE ARE MOULDINGS ON THE DOORS, FENDERS, AND THE BED.... I HAVE MOST OF THEM SO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU NEED..." I took all of the mouldings off of my truck and from pictures I'm looking at of other SS's I'm not seeing any other moldings. Am I missing something that is going to make things look really bad converting from a stock Silverado to an SS?
  11. Thanks guys. Wouldn't have know I needed those. Could anyone post some pictures of that area so I know what I should be getting when it arrives? The wrecking yard also wants to know if I need any of the other moulding. are there others I need? The whole front end is brand new oem parts assembled by my shop so nothing up front should be lacking.
  12. I have a 2004 Silverado 4X4 that had major surgery on the front end (you can see pics in my photo album of the damage my baby sustained). Now it has an SS front clip and is being painted in the next day or so with the flame job going on as well. I have a line on a rear 2003 SS bumper and brackets and was wondering if besides the brackets there are any other obstacles to swapping bumpers? I don't want to get the SS assembly and find that the hitch, spare tire mount, etc all have to be different as well. Oh and while I am having it sent to me is there anything else I should get stripped off the wrecked SS to put on mine that I'm not thinking of? Also if anyone in Oregon has the rear assembly they want to sell I'd be glad to take it off their hands. I have to have one shipped from CA but even with shipping it's a better deal than buying OEM. Thanks guys.
  13. I'm also looking for one for an '04 Silverado. Anyone in Oregon?

  15. Not sure what you mean misterp. The possibilities are endless at the moment since it is even more torn apart at the moment. I'm definitely going with a grill and bow tie and replacing the standard Silverado rear bumper with the SS one so a hood may be a little much at this point budget wise.
  16. If it had been an SS I wouldn't have thought twice about it but it's a regular Silverado LS with a lot of mods. Now it will look like an SS though
