  1. for you boosted guys. can you post your blower type and pulley size with psi? this is a what you actually have thing, not what you've seen/heard... i'll try to edit them and put them in a single post to help out boosted info.
  2. that's not what i meant. the average built 408 is going to have a mild cam and some kind of cylinder head upgrade. i'm comparing a 408 with lets say stock or mildy upgraded heads and a mild cam with compression at around 10.5-11.5:1. for a comparison i'd say a stock long block 364 with say headers, as much boost as can be ran on pump gas with a street tune, and the usual bolt on's. the boosted 364 would probably be a bit quicker, but it's tough to say how much.
  3. when i say equal mods i'm referring to a stock longblock 364 to a 408. mods being external and both on pump gas.
  4. in simple form, your average 408 build is going to run a high 12 in the quarter naturally asperated. a supercharged 364 with equall mods except cubes will run roughly the same time. this obviously isn't always the case, but i'd use this for the general rule.
  5. i'll be looking for it in the hot rod magazine. i hope to stop back out again someday to check out some numbers on that new supercharger kit. i'm trying to find some uses for them. we're hoping to try one on a gen III sbc truck or an s10. that supercharger is damn cool. once you get some more info on that we should add that to the list. i'm not sure where would be cooler to work. W2W or the playboy mansion.
  6. i will say that living in the hot states is a very good application for electric fans on the trans cooler.
  7. i believe the newer one's are running the same system as the cadilac with the open differential in the transfercase instead of a viscous coupler. i could be incorrect on this, but i haven't much looked into it. not sure what all changes are done there either internally other than the differential part of it.
  8. well, i just read your post over at tech. i think for your application the 65E is what you might want to stick it out with for a while. the 80E conversion if and when it does come about is going to be rather expensive and quite complicated to boot. the hp level you are currently at a well built 65E can take. the weight of your truck makes it pretty hard on it, but i'd say you'll be safe for quite a while. if the 80E conversion comes about i'd expect the whole deal to run about 4k for the swap if you can imagine that to go with more drivetrain loss. as for the swap on the denali, i think it will be the same for your year denali as an SS. the newer one's use a different case all together, but i believe it's a doable thing with yours. even if an SS t-case is needed. i believe both use the 149 series case?
  9. are you still running a stock 65E? judging by your quarter mile times an 80E might be a bit excessive.
  10. 4L65E should be able to and a 4L80E would do it without much complaint at all. i wouldn't try it with an allison, they are too heavy internally and couldn't handle the rpm. they could handle the power, just not the rpm.
  11. How about some suggestions..... -Edelbrock -Holly i believe he preferr's the nitrous express kits.
  12. i'd say go with a direct port system that is programmable. hellbents10 uses that on his grandpa's truck and it works out very nicely.
  13. what happened to the exhaust?
  14. the funny thing is that if he still has the stock intake on it, he could send it in looking completely stock.
  15. the stock part is the main issue you're having with that trans.....
  16. i wouldn't recomend the 4L80E if you're planning to get rid of the truck soon. if i recall the reason you wanted the 427 is because you plan to get rid of the truck soon. that's alot of conversion for something on it's way out.
  17. how'd you find that? i have comcast, i wonder if i have extra space???
  18. I think I've heard that somewhere before... yeah, same here.... such fond memories... why is everyone bringing up the past you know it didn't happen right
  19. I think I've heard that somewhere before... yeah, same here....
  20. 3 days should get him enough miles....
  21. usually this only happens under valve float or when a rocker arm fails.
  22. ok, same rules as the other list. we'll give this a shot and see how it goes. to get on this list you must have a minimum of 50 posts or more. this list is only for regular members of the board. if you see your posted time and it's incorrect, just reply. if your mods for that pass need to be updated, post it. all updates must be posted in here to be on the list. (no g-tech times, no corrected times, and you must list all info for your truck...) (newbie times will not be posted) OVERALL TOP 10 1. Quicksilverado: [email protected] 1.68' (XXXXXX) 2.
