  1. Yea...........pricey...............ricey................and gay!
  2. Sticking caliper is the most likely reason for uneven pad wear. I would replace the pad after cleaning everything up and keep an eye on it, if it continues then its time to replace the caliper.
  3. ohhhh. so thats where the seafoam comes in. see i had a mechanic awhile back tell me that its pointless to use a "fuel system cleaner". to just buy the higher octane (91) at the pump. and it would be the equivlant to running a fuel system cleaner every oil change...glad to find out he was wrong now, instead of 10 years from now. btw, im currently using 89 octane...and i'll just run some fuel cleaner in there every oil change. which i'll be using a full synthetic oil. (mobil1 or castrol) so that will be every 7500mi. sound good? im keeping this truck, so i want it to last me. i've never had a car longer than a year, so i'm not to "big" on longtivety (sp). and my dad is the same way....chip off the ole block i guess. ha! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you run the Lucas every oil change and change oil on a regular "3-4k" basis your SS will not let you down due to engine failure. The LQ9 is no different than any other small block chevy when it come to longivity. Take care of it and it will go the distance. I put 150k on a 2.2L chevy S10 with 3k oil changes of Mobil1, she never sneezed or leaked or gave any sign of going south. If that pitiful little motor could take my abuse for that long and not smoke then I have faith that my LQ9 and I will grow old together without any major problems. I laugh when I think of the 283 my dad had in a 63 Impala that hit 350000 miles without the vavle covers ever being off. It lasted that long with regular oil changes and that was before synthectic. Treat it like a member of the family, it won't let you down. If the red lablel Castrol German is at your local Autozone then get it, if not grab the good old Mobil 1 and no worries.
  4. XER273HR - 224/230 - .581/.588 w 1.7 rocker - 114 LSA I noticed the thread started with "just a cam swap" and wondered about the TC? Does he have a higher stall converter, that cam seems a tad big for a stock stall?
  5. Flush trans for $120; if that is a flush with pan drop and filter change go for it, if it is just a flush I would avoid it with that many miles. To many people end up with slush boxes after just a flush without a pan drop and filter change on higher mile vehicles. Fuel injector flush $120 is high in my area, but shop around, that may be the going rate where your at. Lucas makes a really good fuel injector cleaner I use every time I change my oil, $3.99 most places. Fuel Filter, yea it needs it probably, $51 is steep, but not harsh. You can do it yourself on the '03 it is still on the frame rail. Oil? I've used the German Castrol Synthetic since the first oil change, it's a 0w-30 but viscosity is more like a 5w-40 Mobil. So far I've can't complain about it. As for gas, my VHO doesn't like anything less than 91, she's picky like that. Anything else on a new/used '03 SS, well if it was me I would probably change the plugs even though chevy says they are good for 100k.
  6. Pace has the GMPP sport exhaust for like $404 plus shipping, same as the Corsa. I'd put up a link but since the aren't a sponsor I don't feel its good. PM me if you want a link.
  7. Which dohickey? The one that has the thingamajig on it or the one on the whatsyamacallit?
  8. I put some Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads on the front of the Envoy about 6 months ago. Couldn't be happier, low to no dust, noise is not an issue and they were not very expensive at the local parts store. Just did the backs recently, put on OEM type Wagners since the back doesn't do that much stopping anyway.
  9. Caliper sticking? Could just be like you said, time for new pads. If the rotor has not been turned since you've had the truck it could be a sticking caliper causing premature wear on the pads/rotor.
  10. Had a guy in a few weeks back at the dealership I work at, grenaded his rear, he told me he was pulling a boat and it "clunked" while he was pulling a boat leaving a stop light. I knew better but we fixed it under warranty. Only thing we didn't replace was the axles and the housing, never saw such a mess of steel sludge in a punkin in my life. I wouldn't worry about the tune or K&N, we never looked under the hood or hooked it to a Tech2.
  11. First two cats? There are only two cats to begin with. Since your in the politically correct state your stuck with those cats if you want to pass emission tests. Live with it, or get some Magnaflow cats to replace them.
  12. Truck has right at 50k on it now. But he told me they just did a flush on the tranny. So I am probably going to take it back and tell them the issue I am having and go from there. Thanks for the info <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If the dealer advised you to get the flush they "may" be responsible for repairs. Some better dealers will, if you went in and demanded a flush your up a creek. If you are calm about it usually they will take care of you. Sounds like a possible clogged pressure control solenoid, that is the most obvious cause of slipping after a flush.
  13. My dealer doesn't use synthetic trans fluid, just Mobil ATF. Question, how many miles on the vehicle, did they drop the pan and change the filter or just flush? Usually we won't just do a flush on a vehicle with more than 50k on the clock, it ends up flushing the crud out of the filter then you end up with a problem like your seeing.
  14. What was the point? Ricers
  15. Thought I'd bring this back from the dead. My wife.com won a Delphi MyFi XM2go portable, not what I would have bought, but nice for free. I installed it in her Envoy yesterday using the wireless FM connection to her Bose 6 disc indash, sounds good, no static that my geezer ears can hear, but had a ? regarding the RDS. Would a FM modulator send the song info to her radio, or would the song info still only be displayed on the MyFi?
