Where is the intercooler located on the Magnacharger, and how much does it cool the incomming air?

hi all
i just bought a 03 ss,,,,, arrival blue, 22" rims. black interior. only 18k on the clock. appparently no mods.
we have a 4.1 mile road course 13 miles from my house just outside reno nevada. i know the owners, they have lots of weekend events. how many would be up for a weekend on the road course. if we could put together a weekend event i would do all the leg work on this end. let me know how many would be willing to come out here, maybe mid spring or early summer.

Well, as some of you know, this is the 3rd aftermarket exhaust i've had on my SS in less than 4months. first exhaust i had was a magnaflow cat-back, dual in, single out. it was nice, but too quiet for me. then i put the corsa sport on. again, very nice system, but too quiet for me. I was talking to Quick online the other day and told him i wasn't happy with my exhaust and he suggested i talk to Jeff at 1st Try Engineering here in Pittsburgh. Well, two days later, i finally got what i've been looking for in a exhaust setup. It consists of 2 Flowmaster 40 series mufflers and all mandrel bent, stainless steel 2.5" pipe. All TIG welded. here are the pics. man, this thing sounds AWESOME! exactly what i was looking for, and the best part about it is NO DRONE at highway speeds!
Sounds good, but I can't see your picturres can you repost?

That looks awesome man. wow on the price, but I see why at their site.
Now down to buisness, You need to get rid of those cause the extra paint is gonna slow you down so i'll PM you my address and you can just ship them straight to me, I'll make sure they get used properly.
Who's grille is that?

It might not require oil, none really do, but they still need to be cleaned
From what I hear they are ment to be replaced

Agreed. I'm going to pass on adding a scoop.
Adding the scoop increases your intake area almost 50%, and provides a ram air effect
-
no kidding? I suppose it is pretty much the same performance wise right? Im just always worried about over oiling.
I haven't seen any horsepower numbers but I can't imagine why it would be less than the other CAI
That's not correct the GM cold air intake does not need to oiled, check out this web site http://www.oeaccessories.com/jimpacepontia...roductID=415667

hey all, just picked up my SS and it came with a K&N kit. My question is there a better kit out there? Im not a big fan of reoiling the filter. Can I buy a AEM brute fore filter and run the K&N pipe? Or would I have to buy the whole kit? Thanks or any help
GM performance makes a CAI filter that does not need oiling. They can be purchased at ant GM dealership

I got a question for the guys who have the Volant installed under the hood. Do you guys get the Volant Air Scoop for your CAI as well, or no? What can I expect out of getting the air scoop also?
I purchased the scoop along with the cooler; I attached it to the rear of the passenger side air scoop on the bumper. I haven’t had any problems with it, although I worry if it will get wet in rainy weather.

Looks good to me, is your truck also lowered? If so how much and what did you use to lower it?
Thanks!
My truck is lowered 2/3.5" or something like that using the McGaughy's deluxe kit for our trucks.
Have you had any vibration problems?

I'm going to be needing some new rubber soon and figured I might as well start looking now. I was just wondering if any of you wished you had gone with a different size? The brands don't really matter to me since I'll probably end up going with the same Nittos unless I find a better deal on another brand.
Currently I have Nitto 404's in a 305/40/22 on 8.5" rims. The tire actually sticks out past the rim a little when I turn, but other than that, I like the way it looks. It fills up the gap between the tire and the fenders. Some people think I have a flat sometimes because of the way the tire looks on a narrow rim. I was thinking of going with a 285 or 295, but I don't want my rim sticking out past the tire. The protection these 305/40/22 gives my rim against curb rash is great, not like I rub these Intro's against the curb anyways. Also, I have zero rubbing issues with my current size.
Any suggestions?
Anyone have profile pics of a 285 or 295 on an 8.5" rim?
TIA
Here is a pic of what my tire looks like currently.

scoop probably not worth it. I added it to my outlaw CAI because I thought it might help some. One of my first mods but not really worth it. Use the money on a tune for your truck.
The scoop probably helps if most of your driving is above 50mph

Seems a bit high priced for what you get. I wonder if they have tested results on it?
Using a filter that does not need to be oiled might be a better way to go. I never know when I've used too much or not enough. I have heard that the oil could affect the MAF sensor. I wonder how much does the filter cost?

The McGroughy's kit comes with all of the parts including an air bag kit if you need to tow.

Ive read many posts and either Im reading them wrong or not reading them enough but everyone seems to either piece together a kit or is unhappy with the kit that they purchased. Ive reailized that the McGaughy's kit pretty much sucks. I noticed that Belltech seems to be the way to go. Why cant I just go to Summit or Stylin Concepts and purchase the Belltech kits? I havent read of anyone doing that yet. Everyone seems to be buying pieces seperatley and its confusing the hell out of me. Is the kit that these places sell not good enough? If so, can someone suggest the best pieces to buy seperatley. When it comes to suspension I am totally clueless with bumpstops, leafsprings, shackles, etc. I know what they look like and I can locate them I just have no clue what they really due. I just wanna lower my damn truck the right way.......

Hey guys, I forgot I took these pictures before I installed the Corsa Sport cat-back on my SSS last summer and thought people considerng this exhaust might like to see how the muffler is made.
I think it is funny to read comments on the various boards like "The Corsa exhaust does not flow very good just look at the size of the muffler, it's as big as the stock one." or "My Flowmaster 40 out flows the Corsa Muffler just look how big it is" They have obviously not seen the inside of the Corsa muffer to see it is sraight through or have an understanding on just how the RSC system works w/o internal packing or baffles. Hopefully the pics will help a little in understanding how the muffler works. Of course just wanting the Flowmaster sound is understandable as I have owned 8 of them on various other vehicles in the past, so obviously I do not mind a Flowmaster either. (Don't want to start a "My muffler is better than yours debate with this post) ;)
I am by no means a Corsa pusher but we do have one on the wife's 2001 SS Camaro and one on my SSS truck and have been quite happy with both of them. Even wth Longtube headers and a off-road y-pipe on the wife's car the exhaust is mellow (read drone free) on the highway at 70 mph, but screams at WOT on the outside. Personally I love the GMMG chambered exhaust on my SS Camaro with LT's and 3" ORY pipe but wouldn't want to listen to that much exhuast volume every morning on my way to work in the Silverado. So the Corsa Sport is a nice compromise, quiet on the inside and roars on the outside under WOT.
Muffler Inlet end ............ Notice the single holes one on the top and one on the bottom near the inlet for the sound waves to enter.
Muffler outlet end ......... notice the same two holes near the outlet end along with the rectangle windows to allow the reflected sound to cancel out the highway droan.
Muffler Cut-Away................. the inlet is on the RH side of the picture.
Note: The grinding marks around the internal holes were done by me to remove any welding boogers, I did not want to take a chance on having a whistle while under WOT.

Looks great, from what I can tell you did you do the installation yourself ?
-
Wow, those notes were great, I talked to the shops that perform most of the installations in the Sacramento area and there were several things about your comments that even they were not aware of. At this point, I am leaning towards the Mc Gaughy's spindle kit with either air bags or an active suspension. Does any one have experience with either kit? In addition, the front and rear of my vehicle is about the same so if I went to a 2/3 drop the rear would be lower than the front. I've heard that once the kit was installed the torsion keys can be adjusted. If the keys were adjusted to lower the front end, would it cause any problems or reduce the handeling?those notes were great, I talked to the shops that perform most of the installations in the Sacramento area and there were several things about your comments that even they were not aware of.
