Ya know I did the same thing a while ago and it did the same thing...but its been fine since...I'm getting the 30,000 mile service tomorrow...I thought I blew the tranny too...

Depends on what color you go with as to how hard the labor will be.
Figure on your time 40-60 per hour body time and paint.. Thats what most shops base it on. If you just go with the cheaper number they usually forget to pay attention to the underside of the hood and all the inner peices. Totally doing a change out color is difficult time and prep wise. You have to take into an account a really good color change is going to involve painting the firewall door jambs everything that might be hidden from the outside.. but is still the original color. Doing it on a black truck say to a blue the new color.. no biggie.. black firewall no one will say shit over. Red truck to a white.. you have the white inner wells white firewall.. so be prepared when you get estimates on it that you might get sticker shock when they tell you about the addtional time. Don't forget Glass removal when doing a complete color change.
Ballpark idea.. I can say anywhere from 6-8k to do it properly. I know at my cousins we recently did an s10 that is in show condtion now from red to a gunmetal metalic.. and the owner of the s10 forked over about 6000.
I recently got a complete paint for $7200.00 but that was also new grill,windshield,headlights,Prob to do all the jams and all....showroom looking $10k
Granted it looks factory.. but it is very time involving.

the nexy day i recieved a call from progressive that they have my truck and i need to return the rental....all excited i thought wow the body shop took care of my issues that fast?i was getting wood just thinking ill be back in my SSS after a month...well there she was shiny,detailed looking good.Mr progressive wants to close out the rental and wants me to sign off on the truck before i looked at it...i said lets go outside before we close this truck out..well the windshiled still has chips(he said from road chips not concrete falling from 75 feet!)
the mirrors still not done(he said road chips) weatherstripping not done(he disagreed from powerwashing) and the one S on the emblems was 1/4'' lower(he'll fix),the headlights have small white rings from the concrete splatter that was powerwashed off(he said road chips again)then i climb in the bed look at the roof and asked Mr Progressive if he has a surfboard 'cause there were 10 foot waves on my roof! I dont want any plastic on my roof because there was no plastic there b4 the concrete hit my truck! i want a new roof!!Of course he disagreed like i was taking the $ out of his pocket! i want the SSS to pre existing condition I paid 30000 for a 03 SSS in december but she was very clean so i didnt mind paying over the blue book. so i left in Mini me not feeling wood anymore putting along calling my agent ....i'll let ya know how this goes.................................

been without electricity for 3 days here due to storms...got the call the other day from the body shop to come and inspect the SSS..i pulled in the lot...she's a beauty...shiny and black...but what is the first thing i see?
the SS emblems are on UPSIDE DOWN!!! this is the dealer here not Earl Shibe!WTF?I went in the office and Mr body shop manager standing there all proud of himself says looks great dosent it?I said paint looks awesome but...the windshield has chips on it...the painted part on the mirrors havent been painted..the weatherstripping has a couple tears from the power washing..and Oh one more thing....The SS emblems are on upside down..he said your kidding right? i pointed out the window to the 55 on the fenders..i like Sammy Hagar's music and all but there is no way those emblems are staying that way...

Hey everyone...sorry havent be on in a while...we've been without electricity for 3 days...that was one nasty storm...anyway here are the picts of all the parts:
-Hood : is in decent shape..no dings,just concrete splatter (the body shop power washed the rest of the truck and the concrete came off..but i would paint it)
-Grill : again decent shape..not broken just a couple specks
-Brake ducts : decent shape..not broken,couple specks
-Rear bumper pad : nice shape..i dont know why they replaced it
-Front bumper cover : there is a split in the cover on the right (pass) side on the edge of the duct definatly fixable
-1 pair of emblems(left and right) : nice shape no concrete on them
i have no idea on the whole shipping thing
so try and bear with me on that, and i have nop idea what to sell them for so all parts are individual BEST OFFER I live just northeast of Philly,PAPM me your offer any questions give me a call...my cell is 267 229 9250

Stopped by to check the progress...about every other day....and today there she was sitting outside...and to my surprise...a full,complete,100% Paint!! considering Progressive downgraded the entire paint they wrote on the window when I dropped it off to paint everything but... passenger rear door (above the cladding)and passenger side of the bed
...Being the pain in the ass customer and alot of bitching and letting them know I am going over this truck with a magnifying glass and they will do it util its right...the dealer wanted to make happy 
I get her back maybe monday...and i have all the parts they replaced! Hood,Grill and honeycomb,front bumper,brake ducts,both mirrors so I'll be moving these items to the for sale topic...cheap!more to come......................................

Is it wise to pick up another PCM to have tuned in case there are any issues with a "tuned" PCM? Especially for those times we have to go to the dealer for repairs/warranty stuff that way it wont get "flashed"?from what ive read here there is a small percentage of tunes that there are issues with....is this common?

was at the dealer today...he's up to $3505.00 but the insurance nazi's recinded the entire paint...the are gonna sand and paint the hood,roof,driverside- fender -door rear door-bed...cladding might have to be replace,sand and paint pass side-fender-door,polish -rear door-side of bed and cladding might be replaced.replace plastic piece where wipers are,grill,brake ducts,both mirrors might be replaced,along with windshield, front bumper had a split by the pass side duct so ill be buying a new cover...gm#12335650...$325.00...and they'll paint that since it has to come off for painting.the only saving grace is that the body shop manager is cool and dont like Progressive insurance so if they burn through the clear or if there is any dings it'll be a full dip!!also the manager said i can have all the parts that come off and get replaced!!

went to the Progressive claim center today... after telling them what happened..i had picts of the damage....picts of where it happened...from the ground and from 80' up on the 7th floor of this building next to the lot i parked at looking down at my SSS...set a bag full of gravel that came raining down yesterday...then he said lets go out to mark the damage as he grabs 1 flouresent green highlighter...i said you might need about 6 or 7 of those...that bad he says.....he walks around the gray speckled SS saying wow...trys to pick some of it off.....after some effort it came off....black paint and all..
then writes.....ENTIRE PAINT on the drivers side glass... 
now my dillema.....I want a cowl....need a cowl....since the paint is free question ...which hood to get?reflexxion?....goodmark?.....HELP also...we do or dont have the cladding? i know its at the bottom of the door but why would that matter for the hood?does anybody have part #'s

Went out to my truck today at lunch and as i got closer i seen a haze all over it...a 12 story condo is going up right next to the lot i park in and the construction company is pumping concrete to the 7th floor.... i was told an "air bubble" in the line caused it to "burb" aliittle concrete that shot over the form and into a parking lot...well that burp rained on 25 vehicles...the concrete was dry when i got there...made a claim with my insurance carrier....took it to my dealer the body shop manager said it might need to be painted....the hood,both fenders,both doors,both sides of the bed,the roof,grill....the only part that didnt get it was the tailgate!!WTF!! He'll write it up for paint but the insurance carrier might want to detail it.They claybarred a part of the hood but there are chips where the concrete came off....I could throw up!! here's the picts...the last pict is the clay bar part...wow what a difference

A local shop (United auto) gave me a price of $30.00 to supply and install a 160 t stat!!! also on a side note i asked for header install only(told them i'll supply the headers) for $200.00!! a deal or what?

Bryan tuned my truck. I love how the shifts feel they are nice and crisp. My dad has a tune from another tuner and my shifts are a little more noticeable than his. I have had my tune for about 2 years now and the only complaint I had about my tune is when the tech from the dealership overwrote part of the tune and put my shiftpoints back to stock. Bryan was also cool in helping me get my truck fixed back to how he had it tuned.
you know my truck hasn't felt the same since i did the 30000 mile tune from the dealer....ya think they change something? i bought it used...never knew what was done to her other than cai and exhaust...did 120 no prob...could beat a hemi but since the tune....its not the same...i think i need pcm4less

Got my 03 with 27000 miles for $24,500 with some mods(ARE cai,Flomasters) I think if I searched I might have gotten a better deal.
