  1. Since i will have to make a new head pipes to make the LT's fit what size pipe should i use? I can only bend up to 2 3/4" pipe. Is that too small with non Mandrel bends? I thought about just buying some pre bent mandrel bends and pieceing the pipes together making but welds for the head pipes since most of the bends are 90* for the driver side and the passenger side probably wont need much bending. Or if they ever get the y pipe delveloped i can cut my cats in to make that work. It will probably be cheaper in the long run and less time consuming to do that than pieceing my own head pipes together. Is there any word on if Pace setter ever Finished development on a y pipe for an SS or VHO? IM just trying to get an idea of How much this is going to cost me before i buy anything cause im on a tight budget. Any help would be appreciated
  2. Do the pace setters come with 3 bolt flange collectors? The pic of them i saw just had like a slip fit collector. Has anyone used these with their stock cats? Can you get a stock cat to fit even if you cut some of the collector off or do you have to buy new smaller cats?
  3. Do the pace setters come with collector flanges or do you have to buy your own?
  4. Thanks for the info. I guess ill hold out for the pace setters then. They seem to be a pretty good set of headers
  5. What is the primary size on pacesetters? I was really thinking of getting a set of pacesetters but my budy has a set of coated hooker super comps that he will sell me for about the same price as the pacesetters. The super comps have 1 5/8" primarys but what is best? Do the pace setters have 1 5/8" primarys also?
  6. How much mileage was lost when you did the swap? how much did your rpm increase after the swap? How come the diff in my truck is a 14 bolt? Is that what came in all 1500's or just sss and VHO? The parts guy at the dealership acted like my truck didnt come with a 9.5 ring gear and that it was smaller like a 12 bolt or something way smaller. Is the diff I have good?
  7. Im planning to change my rear gears to 4.10's. Anyone have any tips on this, like anything to watch out for? I have rebuilt several ford rear ends just not any chevy diffs. Im sure they are very similar. I was just wondering if anyone had any specifics on what kits to buy what special tools are needed and any upgrades they might make while the diff is apart? I want this project to go smooth as possible cause i cant go without my truck for more than a day. Any particular brand gears to buy? Any particular kit? what special tools are needed? What type of fluid would be best? Any info would be greatly appreciated? How noticeable will the gears be?
  8. I did like yall said and put my exhaust back on. I had to weld up a 6" gash in one of the mufflers but i got it back on but it will do for now. At least i didnt use beer cans and bailing wire. I had to give my buddy his scanner back. But im going over there tonight to borrow it again and i will drive while his looks at the scanner and watches everything. So hopefully the KR issue will go down. Before i had my exhaust off i could still feel it pull timming out but when i took off my exhaust it really made it noticeable. Anyway thanks for all the info and ill see how much putting my exhaust back on did and how much KR its pulling out now.
  9. Has anyone used a chambered exhaust before. I have to replace mine since it got ripped up by a piece of metal I ran over right after it fell off some idiots trailer. I was thinking of going with a chambered muffler. Due to the small size and muscle car sound. I have a few guidelines for my exhaust system though: true dual so you can hear the cam Side exit before rear wheel Not brutally agressive under part throttle and screams under WOT Anyone have anything like this? If so do you have any pics of your exhaust? What size pipe and what mufflers? My original exhaust was two V force mufflers and 2.5" pipe with 3" tips. It wasnt agressive enough at idle or part throttle but screamed at WOT. After a few months though, the mufflers started to rattle from the internal baffles comming loose and it sounded like crap at idle. Like a heat sheild was loose or something. So it really didnt break my heart when i saw that all was messed up was my mufflers and some bent pipe after i hit that scrap metal. Im just glad it didnt rip a hole in my fuel tank or mess up some wires or even worse, brake lines. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Im open to suggestions.
  10. Ill have to see what my o2's are reading at WOT. I havent really had the time to really dig into all the details as far as watching everything at WOT cause i dont have anybody to drive my truck while im watching everything. Im going to be putting a new exhaust on soon but ill have to post in another forum about that. Tommorow Im going to try to get the service manager where i work to watch the scanner for me while i drive since he seems to be a genius when it comes to these things. Does anyone know why my take off is so slow when i stall my truck and its better when i just sit there and punch it? The roads were dry enough for me to test my take off but the fog was way to heavy to even go 45 so ill have to try tommorow to see what is happening when i stall and when i dont. I havent had a chance to go to the track yet but when i g teched my truck it only went 14.8 at 102mph. Thats all i really have to go by as far as track times. I know G tech isnt as accurate as an actuall racetrack but thats all i have. I do know that 102 is a hell of a MPH for only a 14.8. I know those 20's are hard to turn but I think i should be at least a low 14 to high 13 with a trap speed like that. Does anyone on here have a VHO with a cam? If so what are your times? I have all day tommorow to play with my friends scanner so if anyone can think of anything i might need to look at in particular please let me know.
  11. I had to take my exhaust off after the cats because i hit a piece of metal in the road and it bent up my exhaust. I have been driving it for a few days like this three miles back and forth to work and thats it. To make a long story short i had to take my exhaust off. Now i knoticed that my truck has slowed down quite a bit and has actually started to noticebly pull timming from the tune. So today i borrowed my buddys Snap On SOLUS scanner and watched the KR and total timming and under WOT only its pulling a total of 9*out. Does anyone know if taking my exhaust off would affect the amount of KR im getting? Also, ever since i have had my tune my truck has been a total dog off the line especially when i stall it to 2400. Its like when i let off the brake and hit the gas it jumps and then falls on its face and after 3200 rpm or so it will pull hard to redline and then never look back. I have not been able to try stalling for a take off with the scanner yet because it has been raining where i live for the past few days and the roads are wet. It stopped raining today and the roads are drying out so i think im going to try seeing what amount of KR im getting when i stall. cause if i just stomp the gas from a stop it seems to not fall on its face as much. If anyone has any ideas as to what is wrong with my truck please let me know.
  12. Before i read this post i was set on a nitrous set up but now im just totally confused. I understand that they all have down falls. I just want as much low end torque as i can get as well as reliability and the capability to make more than 500hp. I do have to pull a trailer with three 4 wheelers every now and again. I think im more set on a SC now but i dont know which one. I have already done a few mods that i want to keep I would really like to have a mid 12 second truck that is reliable. My truck really dogs on the line but i can pull away from a lightning from a 60mph punch. What would everybody recommend?
  13. New Guy checking in. I live in the middle of the sticks by Beaumont Texas. I have an 05' VHO with a few go fast goodies and silver racing stripes<--adds like 100 horsepower! I dont quite have my truck fast enough for my liking yet but as soon as i decide how to get it there ie: Nitrous, SC or Turbo. Im sure I will be able to grab all the usefull information i need from this site and maybe post some helpfull info for others as well. I hhope to have pics by the end of this week.
