  1. Hell I will do it. If not me I got a guy who will in Nome Tx. Its not that big of a deal cause if you get caught its your problem not the shop who did its problem.
  2. The new Harley f-150 with the supercharger is a big turd. A stock 5.3 crew cab silverado could beat it. If it came from ford and it is based on the 3 valve engine you basically got 200 horses under the hood and 100 horses in the bed because thats actually what it is going to run like. Also a supercharged silverado would be a better match for a gt 500 that doesnt really run as good as 500 hp sounds. Dont get me wrong the gt 500 hauls ass but it seems quite a bit shy of 500. Seems like ford bases their horsepower out put on fuel consumption rather than actual output. The supercharged harley drinks fuel like 450 horses and runs like 350 with 22's. Im just happy to see other buisnesses that primarily deal with ford products starting to switch to gm. Probably because of the 3 valve engine being such a turd. Why cant gm put an l92 in a single cab with a 6l80e and 4.10's and be done with it. Sorry to mention ford on here but just wanted to clear things up that the new supercharged Harley is not fast at all and the gt 500 reallly isnt all that great either.
  3. If they build i buy. 427ci in a scsb with a 6 speed! Thats all i ever wanted! Probably wont ever see one on a dealership lot though. The exhaust on the driver side is in the ground effects so the pipes would be below the fuel tank probably with a heat shield between the tank and pipes. After seeing this i cant help but get my hopes up eventhough it will probably never happen.
  4. I was thinking of a turbo too. but i wont have enough money to buy all the good stuff. So i was thinking of geting the gt-67 kit the fuel system upgrade that comes with the intanke fuel pump and 44# injectors, a wide band, and just running 5 psi at first and then when i get enough money for the fmic i wanted to go with 10psi later down the road. If i get the 4.10's and the shift kit i want for christmas, just 5lbs of boost should do just fine for me with the 4.10's untill i get a fmic and double the boost level. What is a 2 bar OS?
  5. Your Momma said that your truck is so slow that her moped could out run it. There, a your momma joke
  6. damn, sorry i asked. Thought maybe someone had gotten one similar dynoed on a chassis dyno, or took out the front drive shaft and ran on a 2wd dyno.
  7. I know the sss's dont use lq4's but for anyone wanting the lower compression of the lq4, and a 80e and all wiring and pcm let me know, I was going to buy this motor out of a wrecked truck a few months ago but it got tied up with no title now my buddy has the title and i have no money to buy it, so i figured someone on here would want it. Any Q's either pm me or post here but i tend to loose posts quite often or forget i posted them
  8. So if i was to buy these heads and port the exhaust port, i could still get away with the cam that was designed for the lq9 heads?
  9. what times can be expected from 8-10 pounds of boost? Or should i say hp numbers?
  10. Are both intake and exthaust different or just one or the other? i was told that you could use the ls1 rockers on the side that doesnt need offset rockers.
  11. Im new to the whole FI world. what is so good about the 122 super versus the 112? a bigger displacement? would that mean more boost quicker? Or just able to feed a bigger motor at higher rpms? im still debating on super or turbo. i really would like to see what is the biggest bang for the buck short of nitrous
  12. I thought you also had to have offset rocker arms for either the exhaust of the intake side, i cant remember though, and also i thought the valve covers were different. Just what i have been told though, i could be wrong.
  13. i have always had good luck with hankook Ventus St's but thats just me. They seem to wear more even than the last set of tires i had and also seem to grip better than the old tires eventhough they are a harder rubber compound. Jethro3 has grabbers you can ask him. my last set of hankooks lasted me like 50,000miles so thats not too shabby in my book, just make sure you arent burning the rubber off of them all the time.
  14. Honestly the dealership is shooting themselves in the foot by not servicing your vehicle because the factory reps only come by like once a month and they dont check the cars your working on. The dealer was probably just too busy or the service manager was just greedy and trying to make a few more bucks on parts and a little bit of labor. I dont give a damn if you have performance parts or not but if that part breaks then i cant help you because you need to get another aftermarket part. From what i have been told is that they have to prove that the part you put on actually caused failure to other parts. So if you put in a cam your engine isnt under warranty. But how often is a cam going to cause you to throw a rod? Most likely if you do the install right it will last just as long if not longer than the cam that was in it only difference being that you have a heavier right foot. The computer tune can affect a bunch of stuff though so be carefull there. But there is no way they shouldnt service a tranny slip because of a CAI, billet fuel door or some stupid shit like that. Hell my truck is still under warranty and they didnt give me any problems any of the times i took my truck in for work to be done. I lowered my truck and they still replaced a bad outer tie rod end and aligned it for me. My dash bezel was cracked and they replaced it for me eventhough i had painted the one that was in it. My truck comes in with a nice cammy idle and they dont say a word about it nor does the mechanic who knows it has a cam. The dealer really shoots themselves in the foot turning down service like that so i think there is more to the story than we know about if they turn down a warranty. IE dickhead customer, dickhead manager... crap like that. Where i work we get blown head gaskets at 40k a lot on 6.0 liter power chokes and eventhough they have a chip, exhaust, CAI, blowzilla turbo and all the crazy stuff we still change the gaskets and dont ask questions simply because the head gaskets are gonna blow out around 40k wether that shit is on the truck or not. Look up the Magnuson Moss act. <= I might have the names switched forgive me if i do.
  15. Muffler isnt in backwards is it?
  16. Speaking of Diesels. I thought this might be interesting for all the guys that like diesels. Fords new power choke diesel is comming out in January. It is supposed to be 6.4L,Twin turbo's in series, 350HP/650lbft of torque. It looks to be somewhat similar to the 6.0's now. So we will see how those hold up, if they hold up as well as the 6.0 thats out now. Might as well kick yourself in the ass for buying one. Or if your too depressed ill kick you in the ass for you. I would wait a few years before i bought one and look at how they hold up in work trucks before i thought about buying one. Oh wait, transmission problems, ball joints, electrical problems, crappy interior quality, crummy seats. Nevermind The diesel truck to buy is the Cummins, the whole truck might fall apart around the engine after 100k but you shouldnt have a problem with the engine. If you could put a cummins engine and allison transmision in a ford chassis and put a chevrolet body on it i would buy one and make my own diesel in 2 liter coke bottles like moonshine. But they dont make that truck so ill stick to the VHO and pay a kajillion dollars per gallon for gas . I would say the Dmax but i dont care what anybody says I have yet to see anyone make a diesel that will handle the abuse and mileage of a cummins. The only weak point for the cummins is the injection pumps dont last. I dont know much about the D max but the aluminum heads scare me with a lot of boost, i have heard instances of heads lifting off the block, broken cranks, and after 100k the old 6.5L would out pull one. But thats what i have heard, im sure that if you do all the regular maintenance, especially fuel filters, they would hold up longer but the cummins is time tested. It would be worth it to me to buy a diesel if i could make a steady supply of fuel then i could afford to do every mod in the world to it and not have to go to the gas station unless i run out of beer .
  17. Read all the fine print in the Aftermarket warranty. I know a lot of people have been screwed by aftermarket warrantys. They will warranty small shit easy but some of them try to find anyway out of it they can. Like freeze plugs for instance. One customer blew head gaskets because a hole in a freeze plug lost all the coolant. They had a 2005 Ford windstar with 40K on it. Their warranty said freeze plugs arent covered under their warranty, there for the customer had to pay for new head gaskets. You better read really carefully about the warranty.
  18. See maybe its good to know a mechanic for the other team.
  19. Sorry I had to get all that out. I had a hard day at work!
  20. Have you thought about how well the truck is going to hold up? I work for a Ford dealership and i cant believe what comes in! Ball joints at 40k! and you have to replace the whole control arm too not just a ball joint. To align the truck you have to buy an excentric kit. How does a 1000 dollar alignment job sound? I love those cause it takes me 2 hours to do everything and i get paid 4 hours for it. Ford has their fair share of transmission problems as well as chevrolet and Dodge. U joints! Ford steering columns are shitty as well. After about 50k you start seeing a lot of slack in them especially with the lock cylinder especially when people hang more than 5 keys on them. I rebuild at least one steering column a week. Also DPFE sensors are horrible! 100.00 bucks for a stupid piece of plastic those go out all the time i change at least 5 a day! Also Fords policy on aftermarket upgrades is if you mod it you void the whole warranty, now weather the dealership holds to that or not is up to them. they usually dont worry about anything small cause that keeps the shop from making any money. but if it cost you a motor and a ford rep comes to see the damage your screwed. We have had a few lightings in the shop for excessive oil consumption. 99 percent of the time it ends up being washed rings and we cant warranty the motor cause 99 percent of lightnings have some kind of high flow air filter on them. ie. "Ford Represenative" Ford ignition coils are terrible too! 100.00+ a pop and they go out all the time. Not to mention it is a 4 hour job to change all the plugs. Im sure much more on a lightning cause of the supercharger in there. Also fluid leaks! after 30K almost everything has a small leak of some sort. Especially pinion seals, transmission pans and yoke seals, oil pans. Just everything leaks. A/C lines break all the time! 6.0L diesels 16 mpg, blown head gaskets all the time aftermarket exhaust+ Ford Rep=you pay lots of money Heavy duty trucks cant get the rotors turned even if you turn .0005" on the slowest speed. 900.00 brake job. Ford considers drivetrain just the engine. Driveline is the rest of the suspension. Ford seats dont hold up either and they arent the most comfortable in the world. Fuel economy is horrible try 14mpg average for all the 5.4 extened cabs. Plus they are super slow too. They accelerate like ford put 100 of the horsepower under the hood and set the other 200 in the bed. The old body style "less powerful 5.4" would blow the doors off a new one any day. So lets look at this. 71.60for spark plugs, 96.00 for plug boots, 30.00 fuel filter,35 fuel injector cleaner, + 5 hours labor @70 hr. 582.6 for tune up! On to Chrysler products. Horrible suspension, horrible fuel mileage, and expensive suspension parts "control arms, wirring problems, cheap parts, cheap materials, Dodge trucks still run off old school speed density set ups instead of mass air, Brake issues especailly with the 20's dodge rotors are too soft and they warp way easy. Run a Hemi Hot one time and see what happens, egg shaped cylinder bores. IM tired of listing all the problems. I work for Ford and drive my chevrolet proudly into the employee parking spaces. My truck is the fastest thing on the lot unless we have a new GT there. People are picky about those cars too! Cant open any thing but the driver door and cant roll the windows down cause if you break the seals on them it makes them hard to sell. Cant take any protective covers off cant start the car! you have to push the car around. it is a sweet car though. I think you might want to consider durability of the truck before you buy anything else besides a chevrolet. I am not biased in anyway about chevrolets. Im sure chevrolet has their fair share of problems too but, i spent 3 years at an independent shop and half of the shit i worked on was Ford, 6/16dodge, 1/16 chevrolet, 1/16 import. If you buy a lightning it will be used and probably have hard miles on it, just that much closer to bigger problems. Especially that 40K ball joint mark! If you buy the Dodge there again suspension and wiring problems. Chevrolet "The most dependable, Longest lasting trucks on the road". Ford and dodge cant say that. My last chevrolet was a 91 single cab sep side 350 5 speed with 280,000 miles on all original everything. Except clutch and starter and wearable items like brake pads and tires. Try to find a grease fitting on the front of a new Ford or Dodge. Then look under the sss, that should tell you something. I wouldnt buy anything but a chevrolet. I make at Ford but that doesnt mean im not chevrolet all the way. Ford is just Job security cause i know that i can make twice as much at ford as i can working across the street for Chevrolet. I dont believe in the Ford products as they are meant to bring you back to the dealership for major service. Also pay attention to how many older chevrolet trucks are on the road versus dodge and ford. Mid 80's dodges are almost non existand as are fords but you still see all those square bodys running around. Same goes for mid 90's almost all you see are chevrolets. If you want something that is going to last that is why you might pay a little more for it. By the way look at my sig. All that cost me $1400.00 and my truck can hit 146mph one mph from a lightning, and i still pull off 19mpg highway. You can make anything fast, its just weather or not it will last. If you want something lightning fast. Buy a regular cab silverado with the 5.3 and put a supercharger on it and go kill a lightning. Plus get better gas mileage on the way home. thats what i should have done but i wanted the 6.0. Just thought you might want to know this stuff before you made your decision. Im not being biased about this either. I have only been a Mechanic for 6 years and i may not have the most experience but it doesnt take long to figure out holds up and what doesnt. buy the SSS!
  21. If you dont know let me know when you here from the guy at Pace setter.
  22. I think im going to hold off on the LT's untill they have the y pipe out. That will make it 10 times easier instead of building my own out of pre bends.
