I know that there are not many awd dynos smog shops here in Cali and because they cost to much and the shops dont get the return.? My brother has an evo8 and he just does the idle test. hhhhhhmmmmm.....10 second AWD not under boost has to pass smog right? You guys are lucky.

  3. My truck side swiped on street and they took out my fender and mirror before they could recover. I had the body shop remove the door moldings, the 4x4 sticker and the silverado on the gate. Im going to keep the Vortec emblem because I think the red will go well with red baer calipers Because the truck is blue. IMO. Look good when I get my wheels back on, I hope! WUT?

  4. Anytime you take wieght off the rotating mass its good...... Lighter wheels, brakes.etc . My brother just pick a carbon fiber driveshaft and rims that wiegh 9 pounds each. Also lighter calipers..He is thinks rims and driveshaft will be good for for 2 tenths off e/t. I think go with carbon fiber if you have the dough.

  5. Took truck back to dealer today. same binding. and tech pressure washed the paint off frame and didnt even repaint. They now say they found a tsb from july 06 that states to change the g70 gearbox to a g80 gear box. and they have a different pump with a valve thats on backorder for 6 months. :icon_bs: This is getting old.

  6. Yeah they havent done the pump yet. They just did the gear box. The first time I took it in, I told them I thought it was the pump. The pump had over flowed all over. They checked it and said could not duplicate the binding. They said it was noisy but within specs. Also that when its cold pressure would build and its normal to have some resistence. :icon_bs: I brought it back again and again and they said the same. Finally I had the tech come out and showed him on the spot. :dunno: So he said gear box not pump. Picked it up and later that night and it was doing it again binding and tugging to the left also the steering wheel was off center. Brought it in on Mon. and the tech rushed over and jumped in the truck and I didnt even have to leave the lot to get it to bind. He was like "oh yeah, yup there it is boy I'm sure glad you could get it to bindecause I couldnt." .When they finfished with the gearbox it was binding on them and they still realesed it to me. He said I could get to bind to the left but not the right so I didnt change the pump. :dunno: I get it back today or tomorrow. And I did call the writer and its getting washed, and some fuel with the next oil change free. we will see about the under hood mess when I recieve the truck. Thanks Alan!

    :chevy: Got To Love It.

  7. every visit after that has been a nightmare. i hate that call "its all done!.........but could not duplicate".my salesman did switch dealerships. so maybe i will too, the one he went to is closer to my house anyway. vegas has like 50 chevy dealerships to choose from.

Got my truck, they say they changed the gear box. My steering wheel is off center and its pulling to the right. Fri my truck started to do the same thing binding. Just took it back today Monday. Tech comes out before the service wirter even talks to me and says he couldnt get it to duplicate the binding and since its doing it now he thinks its the pump. :dunno: While he is telling me this Im turning the wheel left to right and its binding both ways. I dont get it.When this is resolved Im done with that dealership.

  8. Yeah I think I need to switch. Maybe there just not happy with there job so they dont give a sh*t. I try not to get upset with them but when they say things like its normal or within specs it just gets me even more fired up. Its normal huh? Do all Silverados do this then? No...just mine but its normal right? :icon_bs: ......(8:05 am here)and I should be getting the its all done call shortly. Im tired too. We had a stop work meeting last night so I could only pick up a 3 oclock job (3am-8 am). I got about an hour sleep last nightbefore I went to work. Kids get out at 12:00ish today and I have to be at my dispatch hall by 4:30 pm to get a 6 oclock job (6pm-3am).....wonder when the dealer will call.......... :banghead: oh well...thanks for hearing me :tear: . :D

  9. I also had them bring a rearend tech out because of the clunk I kept hearing from slack in the driveline. There told me they were busy and I would have to bring it in another day. I said  .I dont think so. finaly after argueing with them that I should not have to bring my truck in again and again and again and again. To get the issue fixed. Well when you decellerate 2nd to 1st and off throttle and wap it a little it clunks. Backlash, understandable but I figure the tollerance could be off a little in the rearend. But he told me thats its normal. Does every truck do this I said. well ahh he said no. So why is it ok for mine too? He says well I know what I would do is pull the cover off and check for shaving and check the tolerences. Then he said but I know how these guys are they wont want to do that. Can you believe this sh*t. Sure enough the service writer says well we will regrease it and it will hush the problem. they refused to pull the cover and check. Well if I get it back and it still does it then im going to start going over there head. districk manager, writing letters to GM, better business burea... :dunno: maybe it will work. I have bad luck at the dealers.

  10. WOW!!! That is both funny and good I guess. At least you had it act up on the test drive so u can get ur truck fixed!!!  :driving:

Yes, but what a hassle. I told the writer that all the tech had to do was act like your in traffic and have to do a fast parallel park. The action of being on the brake and turning quickly caused this binding everytime. Three different techs. :dunno: Im just a little bitter because I work nights so getting up early screws me up good.

  11. THIRD TIME TO DEALER.

Took my vmax to the dealer today because the exhaust was rattling like a tin can and the steering was still binding. The service writer called about 2 hours later and stated the exhaust was done but tech could still find no problem with the steering. So I went down there and had the tech come out to talk to him. So I waited and waited while the service writers smirked and gave dirty looks then he finally came out. He was very condensending and sarcastic he stated that he was the second tech to check the problem and found that on could start ups that a high pressure built up in the pump and caused resistence....I call :icon_bs: . So we went for a drive and what do you know I got it to do itbefore we left the lot. But for shits and giggles we continued down the road as I kept telling look its binding :dunno: . WTF you should have seen the looks on the service writers faces when we returned and the tech stated that I needed a gear box!!!!! :pop: . I hate going to the dealers its a bunch of bullsh*t.
